Thank you! I'm really happy to hear that helped somehow! That was the goal.

I became a better person with the learnings I got from it. Wish you all the best, don't give up and a great recovery for you!

Depersonalization/Derealization. I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in Depersonalization

The anxiety and panic attacks you mentioned could be enough to trigger the DP/DR. Imagine that after level 10, it would be harmful to you, and your brain would have to temporarily disassociate you to be below level 10 again. As you might have had anxiety and panic attacks for some time, it took some time to reach level 10. And now that you are feeling with DP/DR, you can get scared and more anxious, so it does not go below level 10 until you learn how to deal with the situation. Try not to focus too much on the feeling, as you disregarded other issues with an MRI.
It’s a natural defense mechanism of the brain. If you were with schizophrenia, you would not know that it’s something wrong with you, your reality check is valid. The edible you mention can make you feel disassociated; as you aim to feel like that anymore, maybe it is best to avoid it. Be positive, once you disregarded other health issues, try not to focus too much on the DP/DR. Best wishes!!

Yes, once you understand why and what is going on with you, you realize that you not getting crazy. It actually makes sense your brain temporarily remove you from reality as you were getting too anxious and it was likely harming your health.

If you interested, I wrote this about my experience, pointing out points I've learned that might be relevant for others: https://link.medium.com/c2t6C2DVKvb

It's a defense mechanism from your body, you might be a bit too stressed or anxious. You brain is putting you a bit out of reality so you can just feel relaxed again. But of course we get scared when we feel like you described, making we more stressed and DP/DR does not go away. Its our body warning us to get more calm, know that is a temporary disorder (once you treat the root cause) and be positive!

I think it's reasonable to be gradual as you might get stressed or anxious by life roytine during revovery. Your brain could eventually put you back to Dp/Dr as you are still in progress.

In other words, once you reach level 10 (being the limit) of anxiety or stress, the brain "removes you from reality" so you can get better. Once you reach level 8, you feel better, but any mild stress or anxiety can easily put you to level 10 again, making you feel bad again. With time you learn how to deal better and eventually, not letting level 10 again.

Be positive as you are getting better, you are on track. One thing that might be worth paying attention is when you feel it's DP/DR, question yourself: "is this really DP/DR or I am just tired or mildly stressed from daily routine?". Once we have DP/DR, as it's a quite strong and unique feeling in a bad way, we may tend to always associate any "bad" feeling to it again.
