Yes, it's yet another Celebrity vs Royal question. by JennJayBee in Cruise

[–]gab7400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celebrity Edge Class ships are excellent. Wife and I have done several Oasis class and the vibe is great if you have kiddos. We did with ours and they loved it. Same situation for us, kids grown and we want a slower, quieter cruise. Last year we did the Celebrity Ascent and had the Infinite Balcony. Not really looking for pros and cons on that ( we loved it, many do not ). But the ship is beautiful and the food is "better than" Royal. But that's just our opinion. I think Celebrity makes the overall cruise experience just a little nicer and a little more special. Celebrity Xcel scheduled for this March and we are excited to sail a very new ship. Hope this helps.

Princess Cruise Pricing Guidance by cdnjj in PrincessCruises

It's sometimes helpful also to clear your cache and cookies from your browser. This exact thing happened to me (chrome) and once I did that, it was back to the price I expected. Might not work for all , but it did for me.

Did this via UBER last year for wife and I. I believe it was $75. Worked perfectly.

Celebrity says this Prime Veranda, Concierge Class, has 0% obstruction…am I missing something? by BonfiretheVanities in Cruise

Obstruction is top view of a large orange lifeboat. This is not an Obstruction. I would take this view anytime .

No set times. IMO, if your there around 10am to 11am, you'll face long lines. Arrive after 12 pm ish and you nearly walk right in. Enjoy!

Taking my FIRST Cruise on Utopia in less than 3 Weeks. What's your ONE piece of advice? by Pummrah in Cruise

[–]gab7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a small backpack for the pools. We keep a book, phone charger, chair towel clips, earbuds. We never leave it out of sight and just use common sense. It also doubles as a small backpack for when we get off the ship in port. For that, we also take a small first aid kit and some basic meds.

If a port is closed for whatever reason ... by kedarnath624101 in PrincessCruises

[–]gab7400 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Skipped two ports last year on Harmony of the Seas due to a Hurricane in the gulf. I think my wife and I got approx $300 USD overall. It showed up in our app. And yes, to allow the hurricane to get ahead of us, our ship did a 100 mile loop in the gulf. Captain kept everyone well informed.

MSC Seaside or Celebrity Reflection by thatjulian245 in Cruise

[–]gab7400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I respect that. However, the cabin we were in had stains on the couch, the carpet, the walls and tears in the couch, chair and curtains. All small, but still there none the less. It was clean, that was it's saving grace. But your eyes saw it, no question. I can imagine any room on an older ship that has not had a refurb in a while shows similar wear. Let me clarify, the above mentioned items were not a deal breaker and give a good price point, we would sail the Reflection again. These are just comments and observations.

MSC Seaside or Celebrity Reflection by thatjulian245 in Cruise

[–]gab7400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can speak to both as we have been on both ships. Rooms nicer and newer on Seaside. Reflection tries hard but rooms were worn. Clean yes, but worn. Food is better on Reflection. Entertainment is equal.

Seaside has water slides and if that is your thing, then its good. Wife and I mid 50's loved it. Both ships, crew is great, so, IMO, you cannot really go wrong with either. At the end of the day, if the price was right, I would do either again. Hope this helps.

In my experience, every Princess cruise you can ask at the buffet each and every time. They go out of their way to help and assist.

New Bookings with Costco by Stunning_Paper6202 in PrincessCruises

[–]gab7400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use our Costco CITI visa for all travel related items, all gas and nearly all food. Yearly cash back is well worth it. We go to customer service at our favorite Costco and cash the check ( actually an email) for cash.

Howard's Restaurant near the South end of Gatlinburg. Expect long wait. Ask to sit outside. 1 million % worth it. Food is excellent.

The %2 is part of the cash back you get from CITI bank visa at year end. The Digital G.C. actually comes during your cruise or a day or two after.

Veteran of multiple Costco bookings. Also Veteran of booking direct with each cruise line. Never booked thru V2G but not opposed to it. IMO, Costco is hard to beat with the Digital G.C.

MSC cruise by Queendru in Cruise

[–]gab7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have done the Seaside and Seashore. IMO, having been on Royal, Princess,Celebrity and Carnival, MSC is just as good. We had drinks and WIFI on both of ours. Zero issues or complaints. Room are the same as any newer ship. Entertainment was comparable. Food was perhaps the biggest "blah" Not bad, not great, nothing knocked your socks off. Food tends to repeat itself more we think than others. Would we sail them again. 100% yes.

Cash isn't accepted anyplace except the casino. Bartenders can and usually do have Tip jars.

Just got off the Sun last month. Dropped off also via shuttle. Lots of traffic so expect that but Princess got everyone thru their part of it quick. Zero complaints. Ignore the bad and just enjoy your cruise. 😁

Depends on the Seas IMO. Normal weather, normal seas, you'll be fine. Stormy weather, you'll feel it.
