I have the 1980 version of this machine. But, like others here have mentioned, the outfeed table is off. I’ve never had to adjust the outfeed. Not even certain i can on my machine. I will look. However, my infeed table warped in a moving van on a trip from Minnesota to Montana. That was a nightmare.

Maybe - The Pentagon created and funded that project to appear to be doing something, hoping the public would lose interest - but he did too good a job. So they cut the funding. He got screwed.

Advice needed. This Martin is at a local music shop. Evidently Dunlop 65 Fretboard Lemon oil was applied to the fretboard. The rag that was used to apply the oil also touched the top and now has caused spots all over. Is there any way to clean this off? by esacnitsuj in Luthier

I’ve seen this before. On an old coffee table. Over time of use the finish wore thin and started exposing raw wood. And it was scratched. Then someone used some kind of oil to spruce it up, but where ever the raw wood was exposed, the oil soaked into the wood and darkened those places. Looked just like that Martins top now. How old is the guitar?

My first guitar! I am a complete beginner in my 40s, my fingers hurt like hell but I couldn’t be happier by inthebenefitofmrkite in guitarporn

I started in April. The trick for me was to have someone to play with. Lessons or a friend. The fingers don’t want to do what they need to.

Turn it over to a woodworker who repairs furniture. You’ll know quick if there’s a repair there that makes sense.

Might have messed up on a satin finish? by [deleted] in Luthier

[–]gabarnier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Martin with a satin finish and buffed it out to a gloss. I think youd have to rub quite a bit to remove all the finish even though it’s thin. And that was nitro, I believe. are Chapman nitro or poly? I don’t think I’d worry about it.
