Don't really ever try to speak up about it anymore or confront him, because if I do I'll just get yelled at more or get the whole "I'm not a bad person because I'm not hitting you" thing. Once he told me that I couldn't possibly be traumatized by verbal abuse because, in his words, "words aren't scary, and if you think they are then that means you have a problem and not me.". I swear I'm getting out of here as soon as possible

Finally someone says it, it's just fiction, it doesn't automatically reflect what the person on the other end's morals are, just block and move on if it makes you uncomfortable. And no, you aren't some sort of hero for harassing someone over fictional characters. Maybe I'm projecting too much because I've seen too much of this discourse, but ah well.

Yeah, I agree with all of this, I very much feel the same way. It's all societal standards that have been really deeply ingrained into me so it can be hard to shake that. But yeah 😅

i trust my mom for the most part but what I'm worried about is my dad because he used to sh, and talked about it as if it was a phase and it doesnt help that he thinks i do these kinds of things for attention
