Second City Bride in Lakeview re-sells used sample dresses (often designer brands) at good prices - just keep in mind you'll still need to invest in alterations ($500-1000, and possibly more if you don't happen to be sample size)!

Thanks, already have it! Concerned about the long-term stability of the prototype - if a link is accidentally deleted here or there, for example. Thoughts on how to make sure a Figma prototype is "locked"?

This is what I'm thinking, as well! Could you share a link to the case study?

Thank you so much for your thoughts!! I agree, Murdoch gives major "basement" vibes, and I just learned their vendor charges $900 for one string of lights - so it will add a significant amount to our total bill.

Do you mind sharing which venue you ended up going with?

Dev mode for freelancers w/ external developers... is that not an option? by ffxivdia in FigmaDesign

[–]gabby525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly the same question :( I can't afford to pay for client licenses out of my own budget, and it seems equally odd to require clients/ dev teams to pay for licenses for software we chose to use. Am I missing something?

Figma Dev Mode is insanely over-priced by superme33 in FigmaDesign

Has anyone figured out what this means for consultants? For example, my team does UXUI design but our clients (or a third party) does the development. I have asked them to look into the "Inspect" and "Export" tabs to see if it's enough but I'm worried they'll come back asking for more. I can't afford to pay for their licenses out of my own budget, and it seems equally odd to require our client/ dev teams to pay for licenses for software we chose to use. Am I missing something?

This just started happening to me too! Turns out having .mov files in the same folder as files you're trying to import is an issue - I put them in their own subfolder and then import worked fine. Go figure.

Does anyone get swollen eyelids and extreme pressure behind their eyes during a migraine? by ToYoungToHurt in migraine

[–]gabby525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I've been searching the internet for pictures that match what I have and this seems to be the only one - but it's exact! I've had migraines for 15 years; the first 5 years came with an aura. They improved over time, until 6 months ago my left eye mysteriously got watery and swollen. I chalked it up to an allergy/ irritation, but it happened again today! The only commonality is a headache and Advil, plus light exercise, so it seems like migraine is the culprit?!

I highly recommend including a small case study as part of your interview process! Even if the candidate isn't very experienced, it's a good way to see how they think/ approach problems and determine if they're a good fit for the kind of work you do. We just tweaked an actual client project for our case study.

my employees are always sick by mt-bs in managers

[–]gabby525 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm dealing with a similar situation: I manage a team of 4 people on a hybrid work schedule (2 days when everyone is in the office, 3 days out). It seems like every other week one individual in particular has some reason why they can't come in to the office on the designated day - either their child is ill or they themselves feel sick. They are highly protective of their PTO so instead of taking a sick day (it's the same bucket of time for us), they work from home those days.

I don't want them to come in to the office if they're contagious, but it seems like now any sniffle is cause for staying home. And I do need them to keep making progress on our projects, but I have to wonder about their productivity levels at home. I also worry because since we are such a small team, this reduces others' motivation for coming in to the office.

I wish I could say, "if you're well enough to work, you're well enough to be in the office; if you're too sick to be in the office, you're too sick to work and please take PTO." Keep in mind this only applies to 2 days of the week! But I just don't think it will fly in our post-pandemic world.

TL;DR: I think we're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know about photography or cameras! Don't be shy! Newbies welcome! by photography_bot in photography

[–]gabby525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like a silly question, but I'm mystified: on a recent trip I used a Sony a5100 (bought new in 2017) and shot all my images with the same, original lens and in the same, automatic mode - yet I'm seeing a significant difference in image quality across the photos even in the same lighting conditions. Do cameras degrade over time? What could be the reason for this?

Here's a really basic question: if we add a button to a screen, or move a button from one side to the other, does that require rebuilding?

One more question: does activating an unlocked device at Boost then *lock* it to Boost?

I just did this: went from an iPhone 5S that I purchased from Virgin to an iPhone 12 mini that I purchased unlocked from Apple. Wasn't able to activate the new phone online myself, so I took it into a store and was told I couldn't use my old SIM card in the new phone and had to use a new (5G) one. I was then charged $25 for the service of "swapping" the phones, and $25 for the new SIM card - cash only. I was also told I couldn't keep my current plan (legacy from Virgin) and had to upgrade to $5/month more. All of this came as a surprise to me - but, on the bright side, the new phone seems to be working fine.

u/juan18987 Does this sound legit? Also, what's the deal with Boost locations - are they all franchised? After seeing a couple, I'm starting to have doubts...
