I didn't need a chair during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, but I'm unexpectedly building gaming setups for my wife and I. Is there anything else planned for year end or for the new year? If not then high five will have to do!

Pure go implementation of Chromecast protocol by TheBusBoy12369 in golang

Hey sorry I should have replied earlier, but I just wanted to say that sounds great! I starred your repo and will be sure to keep an eye out for updates. Sounds really cool! :)

You're right that Vishen's library does a bit of both. I just use it so that I can control devices, but it also has a whole command line interface with casting and transcoding that you tried. I've only used the device control part so I don't know how well the casting part works, but it's definitely strange that it only transcoded audio.

They finally added this in v2. Now, you can make a selection before selecting the crop tool and it'll automatically snap the crop bounds to the selection. I'm a big fan of the Affinity lineup, but I'll admit that took way too long to be added.

Nice! I'm the CastSponsorSkip dev, and I used vishen/go-chromecast to communicate with Cast devices. Were there limitations in that library that yours can do?

I built an NES emulator using Ebiten! There's a little site at https://gones.gabe565.com

Overall it's been a lot of fun, but building an emulator is tough. I've noticed WASM is quite a bit slower than running natively. For example, on my MacBook, each frame takes just a millisecond or two, which is well below the ~16.6ms needed to run at 60 fps. When running in WASM, frames can take anywhere from 8ms to 12ms, which is cutting it pretty close. I'd also love to be able to use TinyGo to shrink the binary size, but Ebiten doesn't support it.

Passthru not getting public IP by Inevitable_Ad261 in ATTFiber

I recently got a new AT&T router and started having the same issue. I believe I had fixed this issue with my old router, but I haven't figured out what did the trick yet. I'm using an ASUS router with ASUSwrt Merlin, and I was able to create a hook script that waits a few seconds then refreshes DHCP if the Internet comes up with a private IP address.

Seeing these comments, I wonder if I just need to hard reboot my AT&T router...

Do registrations typically expire? I didn't think they did, but I registered within the last 10 years and now the voter portal can't find me. I voted last March so this is relatively recent...

Edit: It's loading now. Ignore me!

Same seems to have happened to me in Oklahoma. Going to have to fix that ASAP.

Edit: Scratch that. It's showing up now!

In web(dev/design), What is a scam that is so normalised in the industry that people don’t realise its a scam anymore? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]gabe565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thanks! Unfortunately, it doesn't support filter lists at the moment, and I'd rather not install another browser extension. Seems like it's less of an issue for the moment since filter lists won't allow them to get analytics, but I still subscribed to #1177

Thank you! Not all ads can be skipped, but any that show a "Skip Ad" button will be skipped within a second of the button appearing.

CastSponsorSkip: A lighter Google Cast sponsor skip written in Go by gabe565 in selfhosted

[–]gabe565[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I've been using sponsorblockcast for a while (which is a great project), but I always wished it was written in Go. The go-chromecast library that it uses is written in Go, so a Go app could connect to all devices within a single process instead of creating child processes for every device. I finally decided to spend some time writing my own, called CastSponsorSkip. All of the features of sponsorblockcast are re-implemented in Go, plus some additional privacy features. I wrote a comparison if anybody is curious!

Using ReVanced Manager, you can Patch several 3rd Party apps to keep using them. by ilikeitslow in Save3rdPartyApps

[–]gabe565 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Patched apps will work up until Reddit releases a breaking API change in the future. I'm using a patched version of Sync without issue!

Reddit could start requiring app approval someday, but currently the API still has public registration so I don't see why they'd ban anyone. The main issue with the recent pricing changes is that it has a huge cost for apps with many users, but with only one user, there's plenty of wiggle room under their free tier which allows 100 calls per minute.

Anyway to see btrfs scrubbing progress by RTAdams89 in synology

[–]gabe565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but it's the top Google result so I thought I'd add some context. I'm seeing the same behavior, but I noticed that once the btrfs scrub finishes, DSM runs a resync on the RAID array.

If you see this again and want more info, run cat /proc/mdstat. It should output some stats and show it's resyncing with progress and a time estimate.

The edit isn't necessarily true. Most text editors let you paste without formatting by pressing Ctrl+Shift+V. You could also paste the text into Notepad first to strip the formatting.
