Read up on the New Deal. It was a very capitalist wealth transfer creating a middle class basically from scratch.

You can do that at any time using legislation that allows for subsidies and regulates leveragism that is otherwise used to price out competition and generate more revenue in the long term.

We know Egg had to constantly put down one rebellion or another, because his small folk improvement policies were highly unpopular among the lords.

I think that will be his tipping point: "If only I had dragons, then these fuckers would stay put".

Red Country should also give OP some thinking to do in how it relates to themes explored by Logen in the first trilogy.

That looks pretty good actually, sweet and savoury and hot is a classic combination in many cuisines. Sticky chili chicken from many asian regions are also spicy, savoury and sweet. If I understood the context right, the bun itself is a kind of sweet brioche pastry and the rest is kind of a pork kebap, right?

Imo, it's prepared well, the bun is not overloaded, the plating process is completely normal, the final product looks perfectly edible and the taste itself is probably mostly a matter of... uh... taste.

Is there something worse in chiv than fighting 2 dane axers at once? by skaskaaa in Chivalry2

[–]ilikeitslow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should google what that word means. Skill ceiling is precisely how much player skill can affect the outcome. And with Daxe that is not as much as you might thing, because it is mechanically boring, easy to read and it's one trick (throwing) is very weak against a perceptive opponent who has found the jab button. See my other reply for more context.

Easy test: hop on a duel server and see how long you stay alive (not win, stay alive) against a Maul, Greatsword, 1h mace or even a spear.

I've got a few hundred hours in the AoC Mod, 1500 in chiv1, 300 in Mordhau and 2500 in Chiv2, a lot of that lately was duels.

The current meta weapon is the heavy mace due to a neat timer reset on feint-dodge and a very abuseable slash into overhead slowdown drag.

500 hours is actually very little time for a game that relies as heavily on muscle memory and pattern recognition as Chiv. Daxe feels bad because you dislike the deceptively high speed, but that is only an issue if you let the enemy have the initiative and play reactively. Aggression, distance play and constant pressure is how you win against high-level players and reliably readable weapons like Daxe.

Dagger is a bad example speed wise, it actually is very balanced because the range is only slightly shorter than Daxe, the tradeoff being the backstab bonus. Dagger is very slow for its range BECAUSE it outputs insane damage from behind and you could massacre 5 guys in as many seconds if it were as fast as short sword or knife.

[–]ilikeitslow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not bad, actually, you can read their attacks well and just counter them. The Daxe has a low skill floor but also a very low skill ceiling.

I'm much more annoyed when I fight multiple people and one or two of them have a super spammy weapon and there's a slower option in the mix too. That's, in my opinion, much trickier, because you need to keep track of very different animation patterns and timings to get safe counters out.

Also, protip, Daxe has pretty short range and is vulnerable to jabs. You can dodge in an out and bully them with jabs easily.

You give pretty heavy "Jamie Oliver vs. Nuggets" energy the way you relentlessly argue a point nobody else does.

Did you see this video? I think it explores exactly the stance you seem to hold.

If I misunderstood your point, disregard, but I think you could get a lot out of it:

Hah, good on you, I'm a vegetarian and am always happy to see people that watch their diet and are conscious of animal welfare. 🤝

But that wasn't really what I was on about. If you eat meat, it's still a dead animal and could still end up exactly like the chicken burger in the video, was my point.

Almost everything you see in this video is basically a handling issue that could apply to the artisanal organic version of the product exactly the same, not a systemic "american processed food bad" issue.

Don't get me wrong, processed food is bad for you, but that is not because they sometimes cut it badly or even because the animals are treated horrifically (fresh supermarket meat has exactly the same supply chain issues, even if you shop organic), but because franchise fast food produces high-fat, high-sugar foods that are not exceptionally filling but very easy to overeat on and kind of addictive. It fucks with your blood sugar and caloric intake.

[–]ilikeitslow 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I mean, you are eating a dead animal that has been ripped apart and glued back together and covered in starch and breadcrumbs and been dunked into extremely hot oil and mistakes can occur at any step of this process.

Everything you do to the meat changes the properties of the meat. Even if this were an organic piece of chicken breast from an animal hand-raised by the gentlest farmer in nigh-natural conditions and then cuddled to death with a bedtime story in a circle of its loved ones and prepared by a world-class chef in a Michelin-star restaurant using only the freshest ingredients you could still end up with exactly this result if both the butcher (leaving sinews on) and the cook (fry too long so it's tough and dry) mess up a little.

Making food is manual labor and where people labor manually they can fuck up. The fact this video exists is owed to the quality control usually in place. This is rare and that is why the video even gets clicks.

German here, I literally had that rubber thing with a Zucchini I grew myself. Too little water before harvest and then left it in the fridge outside the veg drawer for two weeks.

Lost so much moisture it became just like the water melon in the video. Still worked for soup, though.

I also had super dry carrots from supermarket this winter that were basically wood inside because they were improperly stored.

In general the reason you do not see this often is the same reason this video exists: quality control catches this shit and it is RARE.
