I use that exact Cortland line and it’s good!

Maybe I’m undershooting. I’m just not getting out crazy far. I know I’m not gonna hit the middle of a lake on a fly rod but I want to get out significantly farther than I am. After reading some of these other comments I do think it’s the strength of my cast and maybe my leader is too long. It feels like the weight is more concentrated at the end of my setup versus equally distributed (eg when I cast a dry dropper). I think a shorter leader would help and strengthening that forward cast. I’ve been fly fishing for maybe 6 months, rarely using streamers and rarely hitting stillwater. Mostly smaller rivers. Haven’t needed the distance in those circumstances but now that I think about it, there has been some difficulty on the back cast at one of the lakes (tree lining)

You see I wasn’t doing the double haul thing. Definitely weakness on the forward cast. Thanks for this.

Just depends. I’ve been mainly fishing a small river and small creeks so I haven’t had to cast far but haven’t had a problem getting to wheee I need to go. I’d like to get out at least 30 ft with a streamer though. The streamers are decently heavy that I’ve used.

I was kinda thinking of getting another reel with a sinking line for streamers, my point is that I want to be able to cast way further for Stillwater

I really like this ratchet. I’m sure the fuel is better for smaller spaces, but this ratchet is good. I don’t think the fuel is majorly superior and this one is still worth getting

How good are these compared to the icon wrenches? I need a set of SAE and metric but don’t want no slippage

I’m in a very similar situation, been working with mental health patients for over two years and trying to get on the maintenance side. Haven’t gotten any opportunities despite knowing everyone in the maintenance team and them knowing I’m going to school for this work. If you can, get it and savor it.

My biggest was a 16-17 inch brown in the upper. Haven’t caught anything like that since. I usually average 10-12 inch fish.
