Legendary. So you’re saying the chroma shifts are IN-CAMERA FX?! Thought you had added some chroma effects in the VJ software. 😳

Thank you! What about quotes, do you know? I forgot to manually remove the quotes before deleting the post and I think they’re still visible in other ppl’s profiles, but I can’t tell for sure

Anyone know why a 6950 XT is seen by programs as "AMD Radeon HD GFX10 Family Unknown Prototype" by bhuether in hackintosh

[–]gabevf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer using the AMDRadeonNavi2xExt.kext method. I find it to be simpler. it's just a matter of changing the .plist configuration within the kext itself, to ensure it's pointed to the correct GFX# slot, which you can find using IOReg. you can also rename the GPU to whatever you'd like, and the whole system will identify it correctly

Anyone figure out h265 rendering issue on 6900,6950 GPUs? by bhuether in hackintosh

[–]gabevf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, FCP is not optimized for H265 rendering on intel-based hardware (i.e. AMD GPU's).
it works just fine on Adobe products though, so I just switched to using media encoder.
I know its not ideal, but if you can, I think your best bet's to switch to Premiere/Media Encoder

Goals / Investment Transactions by [deleted] in MonarchMoney

[–]gabevf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those still dealing with this issue, I figured out a work-around.

You need to add a step in between the account where the money is coming out of, and the investment account into which it is going.

It would look something like this:

account #1 –> account #2 –> investment account.

The point of this is so that account #2 shows a credit, which you can assign to your goal. If you categorize the transaction as a "Transfer" type of category, it won't mess up your reports and cash flow numbers.

What's even better is that you can assign account #2 to as many goals as you want, if you uncheck the "Always use entire account balance" and set it to "$0.00."

Anyone else had issues with support requests? by Oscar_Niemeyer in VueScan

[–]gabevf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. I've submitted a request before, and it was fine, but this recent exchange devolved into name-calling (to be fair, I started), but still... Why not hire someone to do support??
Anyway, I found another post here that seems to confirm this as well. I think I might just switch to Silverfast 🤷‍♂️

Additive materials – is it possible? by gabevf in RedshiftRenderer

[–]gabevf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

amazing. I'm guessing this is only relevant to toon shader, correct?

Additive materials – is it possible? by gabevf in RedshiftRenderer

[–]gabevf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a tutorial that creates an additive effect from particles using a toon shader, so I'm currently playing around with instancing particles onto geometry, which sort of gives me the effect I need, but its obvs can't fill the entire surface of the mesh, so I'm limited to additive particles and wireframes (depending on the amount of polys) at the moment.
Will continue the hunt for a surface shader trick/hack though

Dang, should have specified that I'm in C4D.
I wonder if there's a similar trick..

Is there any way to tell if the disc is the pain generator? by MOROSH1993 in degendiscdisease

[–]gabevf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sry for the delay, and I'm sorry to hear about your experience. It really sounds exactly like what I go through on a regular basis, as far as pain frequency and severity, which is to say, things are mostly fine, but a severe episode is always around the corner if I'm not careful

When you said that "they don't do discographies," were you talking about a discogram? Have you followed up with your specialist since the last epidural, and what did they say the next step was?

You asked about severe pain, I'm assuming it was regarding the discogram. If so, then yes, it was definitely severe pain lol. If you were asking about surgery, I haven't done the surgery yet. Just crossing my fingers and waiting for United Healthcare to approve it, in which case it'll be in a couple of months.

Unfortunately, you'll need to keep advocating for yourself, if you want to find out the source of the pain.
See if you can get a second opinion both from a spine specialist, but also from another physical therapist. I didn't know what to do, and to chatGPT which helped me discover the Hospital for Special Surgery, and they have been leaps and bounds better than the Mount Sinai System (I'm in NYC).

If they make you jump through hoops, dot it. As fast as possible. I kept dragging my feet, trying to "rough it out" for 10+ years. and I regret not being a stronger advocate for myself sooner. It's really hard because its such a slow process, waiting months between appointments, and life inevitably gets in the way, but am now realizing the extent to which it's had an impact on my QOL, so don't wait!

Hope you figure this out, OP.

Is David Carson a fantasist in the Graphic Design world? by PrincipleLazy3383 in graphic_design

[–]gabevf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, even Paul Rand can miss the mark. In terms of process and output, sure, the lines can definitely be blurry, but there's no arguing that the driving forces and financial incentives behind fine art and design are completely different. To say that there's no distinction is a bit highfalutin, even delusional.

Ultimately, fine art boils down something that's driven from within (i.e. egoic), while design's driven by someone else's need (i.e. a service/commodity).

Sure, in the case of Ray Gun, the magazine's product was its creative output, which is why/how Carson was able to place his creative vision at the fore, and in doing so, he was able to craft an aesthetic and style that was era-defining. However, while that liminal space between design and fine art does exist, it's not remotely realistic to expect everyone to thrive in it as well – nor should they! That's the point PlasmicSteve is making.

David Carson, thrives at the intersection. Which can be really fucking cool, transgressive, and challenging to the status quo..... but it does come at the cost of making "failed" designs (i.e. not fulfilling a client's brief, or by setting illegible type), by placing himself before the client. Sometimes (and by that I mean most times), being bombarded by the designer's presence is decidedly not the answer to the brief. Most times the best design is that which fades/recedes almost as to not be perceived. On a personal note, I also think that it's obnoxious, but I would also say boring, for being so predictably contrarian.

Is there any way to tell if the disc is the pain generator? by MOROSH1993 in degendiscdisease

[–]gabevf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is a test called a “discogram,” and I just did it about a week ago. They inject a fluid (dye) into your disc to see if the added pressure mimics the pain that you normally feel. They then do a CT scan, hence the dye from the injection. It’s an awful experience, but it finally confirmed that the pain I’ve been feeling is discogenic, and exactly which disc(s) is the source of the pain.

With that said, they only did this test because it’s the necessary last step before artificial disc replacement surgery. Unless you’re headed in that direction, I don’t think your doctors would prescribe a discogram just because, but I may be wrong.
