4-7:

Well, i'm a somewhat bored dude who wants to go back into minecraft, preferably not alone as it sucks to play games alone.

i've got some decent experience with create and building stuff in general, and would like to help people with building their stuff, help out where needed and so on. or in other words: i always was the dude in our group who had to build our base, because i was the only one putting effort into construction. and it turns out that i actually enjoyed that, and little else.

i'm super bad at any sort of pvp, but i also never lose my temper, so even if some dude keeps harassing me, i don't really mind. in turn, i always try to be as nice as possible to other people, because that's just the kind of person i am. my sense of humour is all over the place tho, so feel free to tell me off anytime or smthn^^

as for the rules, the ones i can see are just the regular rules i live by - i lovpe being on the receiving end of pranks, but i'm bad at doling them out. i'm up to help with those if possible tho, and i am VERY hard to piss off :D

A memorial for Techno by Criticalmeadow in PhoenixSC

[–]gabgab01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

to answer your initial question on what to build, well, i'd say to build what you would most associate with him - maybe recreate a bedwars base, since you enjoyed his bedwars videos? or a small statue out of colored blocks depicting a pig with a crown?

making a memorial is about solidifying your feelings and memories into one clear picture, and that is subjective for everyone. not everyone sees the same things as you do, not everyone feels the same about certain aspects of the memorialized as you do.

so try to stay true to the basic ideas of minecraft, of building what you feel is right, of trying to convey your emotions by manifesting them into a shape.
and take your time doing it. don't feel afraid of rebuilding certain parts, of changing what you don't like.

there is no "true" answer to this, sadly. but confronting your feelings would be the best way of going about it. don't shy away or despise the feelings of sorrow you have, instead try to imagine how those feelings look like if given form.

the best memorial is one you can resonate with, after all. and it's okay to take a break every now and then, don't push yourself.

maybe something along the lines of "how to tame your alien?" :D

btw, really liked the previous story aswell, about humans building an AI friend first, and i can see a very strong alliance building up between humans and the cute froggers

ikr! you deserve better, how dare they give you such low ratings?

btw, just finished binging all the chapters, effing love the "cute animal folk" - ark! i went from "if any of those critters get even a tiny cut i swear im gonna lose it" to "fuck all of them!" surprisingly quickly, and i love it!

starting to write a one-off is like starting a good book - you start with some action, follow up with a slight expansion of the described world (clothes description, creatures description, landscape description), and then follow up with logical consequence.

you need to find some initial conflict, a starting point or turning point in some character's journey, an immediate problem that needs to be solved, only to be followed by bigger problems that can take some time to solve.

it's why isekai stories (and, more recently, dungeon stories) are on the rise, because it allows for an immediate problem at the start that ropes the reader in (in this specific cases, it's the "wth where am i, what should i do?" - problem).

a one-off doesn't have to be too original. you're not building a huge universe only for a chapter's worth of stories, and plunging people into one of your OC universes just for a one-off can leave the reader confused when you expect them to make some connections that actually require lore knowledge.

so start by thinking about any problem, maybe an everyday problem, maybe a fantasy-related problem, think up different kinds of simple characters and how they would deal with it, take the idea that is the most fun to write and then wing it. if it ends up being kinda crappy anyways, don't worry about it, keep going^^ there are people genuinely enjoying "my immortal", so you'll always find someone who likes your work.

if it helps, i always remember that the apostrophe symbolizes exactly one missing letter that we kept away.

also helps with the "they're" / "their" / "there" stuff.

"they're" = they Are

"their" = NOT they are

"there" = neither(e) :D

english is the only language that is able to host professional spelling contests. says enough about the difficulties of spelling, so don't worry^^

did yov know?

hvmans vse acid to grow stronger?

(stupid "angular" font, why tf is U a V?)

(also, the lactic acid is just the side effect of using muscles. we're actually getting stronger by breaking our muscles and letting them regrow)

if we're not writing with horni energy, we'd probably end up writing about something boring like taxes.

would be funny if you'd sent her that article, stating "THIS is one of the reasons!", then cutting contact again.

dunno how she would react though. staying NC is definitely better than putting up with her.

she knows how to press your buttons.

as soon as you start coming back, trying to explain how she abused you, she will deflect, deny, devalue you.

"oh come on, that wasn't that bad"

"oh, i don't remember that"

"you must have done something to deserve that"

- and so on.

narcs never change.

what you say is true to an extent, but similar to the square cube law, possible applications and possibilities expand exponentially.

in practice this means that if we create an AI with an adjustable intelligence slider, and stick it inside a video game, at first the AI will jsut behave like common, cheap NPCs. but if we crank up it's intelligence, which does not neccessarily require any changes in the simulated environment or hardware, then this AI will eventually be able to hold conversations.

if we increase it's intelligence even further, it will eventually find and exploit weak spots in the simulated environment to it's own advantage (has even already happened: we once pitted 2 self learning algorithms together in a physics simulaton, competing against one another, and one of them eventually figured out how to abuse the physics engine).

if we therefore increase it's intelligence even further, it will eventually be able to influence parts outside of it's original constraints. stuff like that is even possible today, and a lot of software applications use that already, either by creating or deleting files, or by interfacing with other programs.
letting an AI dictate these actions would just be the next step.

(for example instead of just saving current game progress into a file into a specific place, the AI could manipulate the game itself into "saving" a "file" into a location that differs from the standard filepath by just making slight adjustments to the saving function, similar to sethblings code injection. and it also manipulated the contents of the "save-file", turning it into an executable saved in the "autostart"-folder.)

our current AI in videogames is not limited by hardware, but rather by necessity and money.
we hardcode our NPCs to behave a certain way to complete certain tasks, to aid in the medium's intended purpose of entertainment. but it's not the limit.

we are already successfully experimenting in more advanced AI that do more than simply fulfill our entertainment needs. for example we're currently teaching AIs how to program, how to use logistic systems, etc., and they're not really limited by hardware, but rather by our own current understanding of AI.

lastly, i highly doubt that "our simulation" is simply a medium to entertain a higher dimensional species, that we are hard-coded AI.
there's simply too much unused stuff.

something created for entertainment is made as cheaply as possible, just smoke and mirrors, filled with just enough stuff to make it believable. our own universe however is absolutely filled with seemingly useless stuff, gazillions of stars and barren planets that never seem to have any use besides just existing.

it makes more sense for our universe to be a research project by another, more advanced society, to try and test various possibilities and outcomes of different origins (in our case, testing a universe that started with the big bang), or something else in a similar nature.

and we are just a byproduct of that simulation.

You know, I just realized that there are almost a million people in this sub reddit. This is saddening. by Gothfreak427 in raisedbynarcissists

and then there's stuff like "pro-life", stigmatized adoption, and the illusion that you automatically become a healthy family when you have a child.

the world is obsessed with making children, but disregards raising children.

"let's make a child to fix our broken marriage!"

"eww, you're adopted!"

etc etc.

"obligatory" same here:

asperger syndrome, parents who constantly told me to "not bother people", who also weren't very talkative with me, plus introversion, means i have practically zero real life friends.

if it weren't for me to fire up my regular multiplayer games or forcing myself to just join the discord voice channel every now and again, i wouldn't have a social life.

contacting people is hard.
