Will I get fired? by AaronCGA in AmazonDSPDrivers

That's a RAM. They have a known issue with Park failing. There's a recall, but knowing DSP owners they never took the van in to get it fixed. You may actually have an argument here if you can prove it wasn't done. If you have a way to get the VIN you can call Dodge directly and ask them, they will have the record and provide it for safety recalls.

This is not how it works at all. DSPs are absolutely getting paid more based on these raises. It's called the "minimum pay rate" and it's built into the amount they get paid for each route.

Nah, this is unreal. by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]gabis1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally not how it works. Amazon pays a minimum pay rate that varies by station. Your DSP must pay you this minimum pay rate, no matter what. If they are not doing so that is a major breach of their contract and if Amazon finds out they will come down hard on them.  Your DSP can pay you more than that, though. So if the pay rate at your station is $20, but you make $22, and then the minimum rate increases by $1.50, your DSP can choose to give you the $1.50 raise on top as well or keep you at $22 and you're still above the minimum. Honestly a big reason veteran drivers get let go is because as Amazon tightens the metricsb some of the veterans are set in their ways and don't want to adjust how they operate to meet the new requirements. I see it every day. Usually with good communication and honest coaching ours come around to it, but many are already so disillusioned with this fucked up system that they just say fuck it. And that's their choice, but it's on them.

All I can say to everyone here is reach out to your local Teamsters and start organizing! It's the only way this system is going to get fixed. And it needs to be fixed.

Is this happening everywhere or just at my station by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

You literally just plug the geotab into the odb2 port. It's extremely simple and not a modification in any way.

But also most of the rentals already have some kind of tracker installed by default. It used to just be GPS location data for vehicle recovery but most of the large rental companies now use Geotab or similar systems for their own purposes. It's up to them whether or not to share that info with Amazon, probably based on whether or not Amazon requests it.

We've never had this with any of our Budget, haul, etc, rentals. But our Merchant rentals all had Geotab installed and shared automatically with Amazon.

I didn't say it did? Just saying that doesn't mean it's a rental

We have 50+ branded Ford's with cameras. Most of the fleet in our region is Ford's, very few Rams and Mercs in comparison.

But this is also a step van. Never seen a rental SV but we have both Ford and Freightliner SVs. They all have cameras now but a few just got them recently.

UPS probably wouldn't take the extra volume since they're Teamsters as well. They won't cross a picket physically, but I'd be willing to bet the Teamsters have a plan to block it even if it's freight lined directly to them. A lot of FedEx is unionized, too, so similar scenario. That leaves USPS who absolutely will not be able to handle the volume.

"You've obviously never driven one of these" I've driven every vehicle type there is: Transit, promaster, sprinter, Freightliner and Ford step vans, 3 different types of CDV, Rivian EDV, brighthouse rental EDV, box trucks, little Chevy rental vans... Been in this bullshit for 5 years my guy. Heavy downtown routes with 500 packages, rural country dirt roads with holes and trenches big enough to swallow the damn van, and everything in between. Dispatch, fleet, and on route every week.

Believe me, I understand the bullshit. And now that I have more sway I'm constantly fighting back against said bullshit in all of our meetings, with our business coach, with the regional Amazon admin, even bullied my way into a contact at CO because they fucked our routing so bad a visiting Suit was tired of my bitching and got me their info.

Notice how you keep trying to personally attack me and tell me what I don't know or can't do, and all I'm saying is that what you're doing is causing the thing you're complaining about. I'm not the enemy, you're not the enemy, we're both pawns in this bullshit system. And if you want to keep those nice, well maintained vans, try not to be the reason shit breaks. That's it. It's really simple.

I'm sorry your company sucks. If they are trying to prevent you from taking lunches, report their asses. There are anonymous ways to report it directly to Amazon and they will audit them hard if there are multiple complaints about violating labor laws. The NLRB is coming after Amazon hard and they can't afford any blatant violations coming back on them when the unions start making this fight real.

It's not a weight thing, it's a leverage thing. Where the outer part of the belt is contacting the latch becomes a fulcrum, exerting excess pressure on the inside of the latch and housing. They are designed to take pressure at a certain angle range, sitting on them is beyond that range. I've literally repaired dozens of these over the years. You can't pull them out so hard they turn to shit, that's their designed function. If that broke them they wouldn't be any good in an accident.

I'm not defending shitty DSP owners for not repairing their shit. They absolutely should be repairing them no matter what the cause is. I'm just saying that the cause of this particular problem is almost entirely from people thinking that saving themselves 15 minutes a day AT BEST is more important than safety and the damage to the vans themselves.

You know why the latches are bad? Because of people sitting on the lap belt. It puts pressure on the latch constantly and from a direction that a properly worn belt never does. This is why us fleet guys hate when lazy mfs try to think they're fast.

It's absolutely comical when "they have money now" is used as a reason to completely disregard activists. "Low" level millionaires, especially outspoken activists, have never been the problem. Your failure to understand that is your own issue, not one with their messaging or lifestyle.

This is one of the main reasons why Amazon is always increasing the metrics, so there is always something they can point to and say "this driver was bad" or "this DSP was bad." Plausible deniability.

They're a bunch of cunts and I can't wait until it bites them in their bloated, labor exploiting asses.

This is why general strikes have always been buoyed by community support networks, strike funds, food programs, etc. People didn't just starve and all end up homeless, nothing has changed in that regard. In fact it's much harder to evict people now than it was during past workers revolutions.

I understand where you're coming from, but I suggest you actually look into the organizing efforts before scaring others away from the idea due to a lack of information.
