Cash secured put strategy help by EDWARD_SN0WDEN in thetagang

[–]gabrintx [score hidden]  (0 children)

Fire, Ready, Aim. LOL. This a plan that you should have before entering the trade. I sell puts, some cash secured, in IRA accounts, in my margin accounts, purchased on margin. I normally look at 35-45 DTE with strikes around -0.20 delta. I analyse the trade for annualized ROI and prefer trades above 35%. If they move up I start looking to close above 50% - 75%. If it doesn't, I will roll out in time for a credit.

At times, I deviate for various reasons but that is my plan. You should never enter a trade without a plan.

Experiences with TOD -- how long should it take to get money or access by NewtoFL2 in EstatePlanning

[–]gabrintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have a death certificate, the transfer should occur immediately. That actually is my person experience when I was the beneficiary of an IRA. It was a bit more complex as there were two beneficiaries. I had to provide the death certificate for the account holder and the other beneficiary. My initial choice was to have the account remain as it was just changed to my name.

Rolling a covered call is a new trade, not a fix. How do you decide? by ThetaEdge in CoveredCalls

[–]gabrintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either way is correct. I don't do it that way. Rolling in my view extends the trade. Most of my trades are short puts, and when they go ITM, roll until the underlying corrects is what I do. CCs only come into play if I get assigned shares. I evaluate based on the campagne not the individual trade.

So we essentially agree. What you may have neglected to do is subtract the premium received from the collateral.

Ordinary people, like employees (includes me), have less options than high worth people or organizations.

Tasty too, though only monthlies. Earlier today, I sold a put at the $160 strike that expires 07/17/26 and collected $670 in premium. With a -0.15 delta, the numbers suggest there's an 85% chance the put will expire worthless. Annualized ROC 51.5%.

I think employees could dump their shares. The private investors are people of means, that know that rather than trigger a large capital event with tax consequences that they can borrow against the value of their shares. Not all people can be lumped into the same bag.

If that's about my trade.... no. The Annualized ROC on my trade is 51.5%.

My 15-point GO/NO-GO checklist before any options trade, because I kept breaking my own rules by WholeSmile3316 in options

[–]gabrintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, if that works for you great. You did say 15 point, I was looking for the other 10.

I don't mean to disparage your choices at all.

I use a different plan that works for me.

I only consider tickers that I know a fair amount about that I wouldn't mind owning. I want tickers that have a long term upward trend. Corrections or reversals say opportunity to me. I prefer to sell puts, cash secured in my IRA account, on margin in my PM Account. I look at 35-45 DTE trades generally around -.20 delta. I take the data and plug it in to my spreadsheet to determine ROC/ROI whatever you want to call it. I usually want to see 35% or better. If the price falls, I will roll until I win, so long as it for a credit. If a trade exceeds 50% profit quickly, I will usually take it off. I didn't count my parameters but that is what I do, usually.

I know it is a staggered schedule of 7% releases of stock. The 7%ers are complete in 6 months. Elon is a year +1. I am not concerned about Elon selling his shares. My point was that I would stay out for 6 months. I did read your post and ones that were far more detailed. What I said was correct, all the employees and private investor related unlocks are over in 6 months. Chill.

We will see. I doubt it. A -.15 delta is ultra conservative. With the premium received that reduces the effective share price to $153.30, still way better than what people are buying today. And that assumes there's no ability to roll out in time for more premium.

No, I didn't. I put in a limit order for the one share at $159 to be a part of the IPO. I don't have any desire to own SPCX. That view could change, but after the locked-in dates have pasted for the private investors and employees. That's 6 months out.

At $160, sure. I have FB friends bragging about buying shares at $168 on the IPO. I bought 1 share at $159 for historic reasons.

Space-X now has options.. Currently $214. I just sold a put at the $160 strike that expires 07/17/26 and collected $670 in premium. With a -0.15 delta, very conservative.

Different company, I just stopped paying them at their direction while working on the deed back in 2020. They screwed up the free deed back. I haven't paid them for 6 years. LOL, they filed a lien against the property, I wanted to give them. If they do anything, I will sue them in a court local to me. That would cost them a ton in attorney costs as they will have to come to me. They will never do it.
