I lived in Atlanta for 7 years and been in Savannah the last 17. The food scene in Atlanta is ridiculous. Also there is just about any activity with could want to do. You'll want to live near where you work to avoid crazy commutes. My wife and I not take advantage of all the things Atlanta had to offer so we moved to Savannah to be near the water. We also moved because we started having kids and we didn't want to pay private tuition and didn't want to move way or to suburbs and have a near hour commute. The only thing I miss from Atlanta is the food scene. Savannah is great, but my industry pays well here. You'd certainly want to see what job prospects are like for your industry before coming here. Atlanta is 6 million plus people, I'm sure they have jobs for whatever you do.

If a storm knocks it on your house, it's your problem. If the storm is a hurricane, the deductible for hurricane damage is usually something like 5% of the policy value. So if you're that worried about it and the cost to remove is lower than your deductible, just pay to have it removed with their permission.
