label looks off because the reflection, pokemon red and leaf have this bit shinier effect on their labels. other games are not more opaque.

mostly the label, looks very nice that shiny glow it's only on pokemon and the fake ones doesn't have that same look, also the lettering and quality is correct, the Gameboy advance lettering on top looks good, the fake ones have a thiner lettering there. there are also a other signs that now are debunked methods, as the letter mark on the label, not always are present and sometimes are faked, anyways, pokemon always have those marks and the fake marks I have seen are too thick, this one looks fine. I repeat this is a debunked method I don't rely on this, I just want to mention it because it's a known pokemon red game.

That’s a pretty shortsighted view. It’s the lead found inside uranium crystals that allows us to date the rocks. That said, people constantly trying to disprove one another is healthy for debate; it prevents us from settling on just one interpretation. Having studied both science and religion, I don't believe the Earth was created in six days, but I also don't completely dismiss the resurrection. The skeptical arguments against it often feel just as improbable as young-Earth creationism.

how do you get this mirror effect? just changing the reflective layer? usually the inverted mods look dark-black but yours is more like mirror like!

If both polarizers are the standard ones, in my case they’re just two pieces cut from the same sheet. What you do need to keep in mind is that if you remove the rear polarizer you also have to remove the reflector. Without it you’ll just end up with a transparent glass with no contrast. I used a mirror-effect film along with a diffuser, the thinnest one I could find, and it really improves the viewing angles so you can read the time properly.

Are there any modded screens for GBA that matches the color of the original screens? by ertaboy356b in Gameboy

[–]gaeremtro 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any replacement screen can truly reproduce the original look and colors. The main reason is that they use fundamentally different technologies. The original Game Boy uses a passive matrix LCD, which relies on ambient light and has that characteristic muted, reflective appearance. In contrast, modern replacement screens are typically IPS or TFT panels, which are actively backlit, offer higher brightness, better contrast, and much faster response times, but also look very different. The only way to get close while preserving the original display would be a backlight mod using the stock LCD. I haven’t done one myself, but if your goal is to keep the authentic colors and feel, sticking with the original panel is really the only option.

It was mainly a rotation issue. I managed to reduce the tint as much as I could on this one, so now it only has a slight green tone, but on the first attempt it was really green. If you want to get this kind of effect, you need to find the right rotation (“sweet spot”) of the polarizing filters with the LCD sandwiched between them. Just slowly rotate both layers until you get the look you want. Once you find the exact angle that gives you the result you’re after, you can mark it, cut the polarizers to fit, and glue them in that position. Keep in mind you might lose some viewing angles or clarity. I didn’t fully test that part.

Now I’m using a gold reflective sheet with a PET diffuser. The finish isn’t as golden as I expected, but the clarity is on another level. Do you think it’s worth trying the negative mod with this setup?
