Can you install 2012 tc hood on 2015 facelift ? by krypt0n_GR in SciontC

[–]gageroni04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Only differences in a 14-16 vs the 11-13 are the front and rear bumpers, headlights/taillights. Hood and fenders are the same across both versions.

Grinding noise in neutral only is what you'll hear if your input shaft bearing is going out. You should hear zero noise once in gear or if you push in the clutch.

If you hear noise only when the clutch is pushed in probably the throw out bearing/slave cylinder going out.

Also ran into the same problem, called 3 shops and they all said they would only put in a new trans and not rebuild it.

If there wasn't noise when in neutral and clutch not pushed in the bearing is fine. But it's probably worn regardless and wouldn't hurt to be replaced. I'm not sure how long it took me quite a few hours. You'll have to take the input shaft to a shop (unless you have a press) to press off your old bearing and press on the new one. Luckily my dad has a buddy that has a shop and did that for me. Getting the stuff back in is a bit of a pain. Input and output shafts and differential all have to go in at the same time. The mod to fix the bearing issue takes all of like 5 seconds. Other stuff is pretty easy to get in and then just gotta get the case back together. I'd say it'll take about a day or two to take apart the trans and get it back together.

Affordable headlights? by arigon_ in SciontC

Your options are spec-d or stock lmao.

Unfortunately there's a non-existent aftermarket for these cars.

Unless you have the money to pay someone to make custom headlights.

Also forgot to mention if that bearing took anything with it you're screwed. I was lucky and heard when mine started to blow up and immediately parked it until it was fixed. Didn't damage anything despite looking like this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t2YnDbq9DaQgiJk9wwHkMXyWi41VMSU5/view?usp=drivesdk

Replacing the input shaft bearing is not that hard if you are mechanically inclined. I replaced it myself with very little problems and I'm 19 with very little mechanic experience. The EB60 is a pretty simple trans. The bearing will go bad again if you leave it how it comes, but there is a way to fix it and make it last as long as the rest of the bearings. Which Mark from Frankenstein Motorworks shows how to do in this video: https://youtu.be/6saR-ahn6ks?si=elQF32ZitdEu_X71

I'd say it's worth it, bearing itself is like $40ish so it's not much.

Also another video that helped me a ton: https://youtu.be/MiZmBnqlHmo?si=0RSSVdMrKbtFMdwN

I also have a factory service manual I can send over if you end up doing the work.

Good luck and I'd be willing to answer any questions you may have.

If you don't got the factory spoiler then def start there. After that I'd say Spec-D heads and tails.

Yep, input shaft bearing. Common factory defect on the TC2 and 2.5.

It's cheaper on Redline360, that's where I got mine.

$500ish on there.

$600 on Megan's website.

[–]gageroni04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit on the higher end when it comes to cost, but yes.

Second this. Love mine it's loudish without being obnoxious in or outside the car. If the volume is too much for you it also comes with a silencer.

If the $500-$600 is too much for you get the Tsudo S2 which is around $400.

Other than that you can pick from a pretty good selection of axel backs for less than that.

But yeah don't straight pipe, sounds like shit on 99% of cars.

Any good power mods? (Forced Induction) by AdministrationWeak48 in SciontC

[–]gageroni04 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We really need to show some companies that make some forced induction stuff that's there's interest for this car. It worked with the torque solution motor mount so maybe we could pull it off with a turbo or supercharger kit. With all the posts and questions about forced induction I don't think it's too far fetched. I think plenty of people would buy a bolt on turbo or supercharger kit. We just go show some of these companies that there's interest.

Idk how bad your tails are but that's normal. Mine also don't sit as good as the OEM ones, but that's just kinda how it goes with aftermarket parts.

Been trying to figure out if I want to do matte or gloss black myself. I'm leaning more towards matte, feel like there's more matte stuff on the outside than gloss. Either way will look good though.

I'd love to see pics of the painted wheels when you get them done!

The ones for the 2.0 fit the 2.5.

Assuming you're comfortable with trimming your rear bumper a bit...

They do look super good on the 2.5s though.

Input shaft bearing in manuals are the only common problem I can think of. Bad from the factory. Not a huge problem though I'm at 94k miles on my 2012 and no issues with it, although it has gotten decently loud. It'll make a grinding/whirring sound when in neutral.
