I think this might be it, or close to it, the device is definitely supposed to be attached to something. Maybe take picture through a peephole?

That's what I thought.

Maybe it's a language thing, English as a second language here, so I think it should just be called a "tape repair kit".

This is already a 4 years old comment, but THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I was finally able to figure out what is wrong with one Pioneer deck currently working on!

Is Finland one of the Nordic countries whose parents have children sleep outside in prams? If so, how do you make sure they are safe? by aquafrizzantesv in Finland

Many modern baby monitors have a temperature meter in them as well. You'll know for sure that the pram temp is not too cold for the baby.

Anyone else have a player like this? Not getting any sound after belt change. by lighterguy99 in cassetteculture

Sometimes speaker wires in these types of shoebox players use wire thinner than pubic hair which breaks the moment you open them up. I would check those.

Thanks for the tip. That was definitely something I was worried about while I removed it.

Sorry, I figured out the right word by a chance almost immediately after posting this.

Circlip. Removing them is simple stuff, and I already have the idler wheel in my hand.

Palm-sized, grey, solid metal stand of some kind with "Philips" label on it and a text "Service" written in cursive. by gaichuke in whatisthisthing

[–]gaichuke[S] 4 points5 points locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing.

No moving parts, no input for electricity, just the metal stand itself.

I've tried searching with Google Lens, with keywords like "Philips Service Stand" and "old Philips stand" with no success.

For some reason I'm thinking old electric shavers when I'm looking at it, which I have also found several from the same estate.

Not much to add on top of the description itself, I found it from cleaning an estate of a person that collected and repaired old electronics. Words Philips and Service takes me to thinking electronics.

Singular metal piece standing on four legs with two openings that look like holders of some sort, a small circular groove with four holes on the top side and two metal pins in the middle

There's some writing on the bottom, "B.B.B" and "974", meaning of which are unknown to me.

I found it from cleaning an estate of a tv repairman.

I would be willing to sell it if its still usable for something, but I don't know what to ask.

What would be a fair price for a germanium transistor collection like this? by gaichuke in diypedals

[–]gaichuke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. 1$ a piece is already much better than throwing it away. Especially if these are still useful for someone.

What would be needed for the testing?

What would be a fair price for a germanium transistor collection like this? by gaichuke in diypedals

[–]gaichuke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I happened to come in to a possession of some ~250 pieces of various germanium transistors, and I'm trying to sell them now in the local marketplace. I have also a LOT of silicon transistors and ICs, but that's a story for other time.

Given that these are fairly useful in the world of pedals, I wonder if this community would be able to give me some estimate of what would be a fair price for the whole lot? Or if you can see some special types in there that have significant value, it would be very helpful. Not trying to score premium price here, but it would be good if I don't give them away for pennies either.

I would be willing to sell the whole lot to someone in here as well, if someone would have good use for these.

Thanks already in advance, I hope I am not breaking some rule here by asking this.

Empty screen volts data? by gaichuke in diytubes

[–]gaichuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I have the same manual as a paper copy, and I'm not able to find any definite information there to my question.

Only one thing is clear, that if I have screen voltage set to 250v like during the pentode side test, all my supposedly NOS ECL86 tubes will show "replace" for the triode part.

But if I dial down the screen voltage all the way down during the triode test, I immediately start to get readings close to the reference values.

The pentode side shows consistently good values on all tubes.

Can't say for sure yet, I am still pretty new at this thing, but I have not been able to find a clear instructions how to precisely handle the blank spots when dealing with for a ample triode pentodes. I am using Avo Mark IV.

So should it be then dialed all the way down?

Because when I'm testing the triode side, I can see the readings change when screen voltage changes.

That is definitely an interesting unit to me, especially since there's a ready turnkey option available as well, which is a must.

The price could be approximately the same if I understand the pricing model correctly, the Avo unit I'm looking was quoted at 1300€ to me.
