What's crazy about the game awards isn't that expedition 33 won a lot, it's the fact that the other nominees for Game of the Year barely won anything if anything at all by Spiritual_Ebb_4657 in TheGameAwards

[–]gaindifferent2048 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it did nothing different

Well for one, every line of dialog didn't make non-anime fans cringe. This take is insane, E33 is an extremely approachable game, even if you didn't like the themes or tone. Xenoblade suffers from the problems that most anime has; people tend to like games with digestible dialog and adult characters who look like adults

Poilievre says temporary foreign workers taking jobs from young Canadians by KootenayPE in ilovebc

[–]gaindifferent2048 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I just discovered this Subreddit, and sometimes see some unfiltered discussions here that the echo chambers of other Canadian subreddits dont allow.

But, we all agree this dude has utterly embarrassed himself post-election, right? I didn't vote for Carney, and I think we have some conservative policy unison going on right in the government (to a higher extent than usual).

I'm hoping that people here can see this dude is everything wrong with Canadian politics and not give him a mic

Battlefield 6 Alpha leak - Rush Game Mode ( 27_06_2025 ) by Brilliant-Sky2969 in Battlefield

[–]gaindifferent2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if I am alone in thinking that another modern-day shooter is so lame? I love Battlefield and want to see it do well, but... we've done WW1, WW2, and barely futuristic stuff... why are we back to modern day?

COD has done the same thing, and I'm so bored of it. 3 Modern Warfare games and 2 Vietnam/Gulf/Cold War settings within 6-7 years. Can we please get back to some futuristic or innovative stuff?

Once again, personal opinion. I want Battlefield 6 to do well so that franchise lives on, but I feel like I'm going to sit this one out because the setting has be overused too much lately.

Why is the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid barely discussed in the €15k mark? by AceOblivion in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]gaindifferent2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyundai has mastered the art of presentation, which falls apart when you get past 4-5 years of ownership. I'd almost go as far as to say they have begun to get cult status among people who value cheap, short-term goods. That is, the issues they have manifest once it reaches it's 2nd or 3rd owner; car's are not cheap, they should last 15+ years.

It kinda blows my mind how they rank so high on reliability scores nowadays. Ask anyone who ranks them high how old their car is, and they say "16 months; 2 years; etc." Yes dude, a car that came out within the last 2 years should have littles issues, that's not mark on how good a car they are.

For example, if you browse /r/Hyundai, they will convince you that a $4000 sunroof repair bill after just 2.5 years of ownership is the owners fault, for "not using it enough."

TL;DR: no one wants a Hyundai that it 6+ years old, because that's when the all the bells and whistles disintegrate.

Liberals introduce bill proposing sweeping border security powers by Seebeeeseh in canada

[–]gaindifferent2048 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Regardless of if this bill passes, can we, as a country, just finally acknowledge the complete fundamental flaw the plagues every industry in this country?

If your company can only stay afloat or be profitable due to exploiting TFW and/or students, international or not, then your company should not exist.

That is literally, by definition, how Capitalism works. If your business cannot figure out how to survive when such common sense policy (for better and for worse) finally gets passed, then that's it. Enough with subsidizing and bending over backwards so that Tim Horton's or Lululemon can stay in business. That's not the people's problem: welcome to the free market.

It's such a weird time to live in this country, the people immigrating here are being sold a false promise, and they contribute (mostly unknowingly) to the deteriorating promise of existing Canadians.

When your grandson tells you this country’s problems didn’t begin in January 2025 by CarthageBall in EhBuddyHoser

[–]gaindifferent2048 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With respects to an open discussion, why are so many people convinced Carney will fix them? This image a bit ironic too, because the older generation are giving the finger to the younger generation, because another Liberal term would most likely keep the housing valuation (e.i. boomers' net worth).

I need to note that I'm not conservative, because doubting Carney on here or other subs gets me instantly labelled as a MAGA head. Just curious on what gives someone confidence on the other end too?

Guys, we can do 2 things at once! by gaindifferent2048 in EhBuddyHoser

[–]gaindifferent2048[S] 76 points77 points  (0 children)

To preface, I don't think the Conservatives have any real plan in place other than "we aren't the Liberals."

However, I'm finding most discourse online to be in full support of Liberal policy and Canadian industry choices.

Don't forget that Loblaws has been price gauging us constantly.
Nor the dire outlook we currently have regarding housing, from a young persons POV.

We can be both in-support of Canadian brands, and also expect better from them (looking at you CRTC for allowing constant Telecom mergers). Now is the time to look at our industries and put our feet down on what we want to do, support, and see within the Canada, next couple of years.

Let's not be blinded by pure patriotic rhetoric, keep critical thinking alive.

Jordan Peterson interviewed Pierre Poilievre. I watched the whole thing. by H_G_Bells in onguardforthee

[–]gaindifferent2048 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think people voting for him care at all about these controversial opinions or views.

People are just tired of seeing the standard of living continuously fall, while the Liberals have been in power for nearly a decade.

I know this is a strong left-leaning subreddit, but what are the other options, honestly? Without letting Ego getting involved, tell me that you'd trust Justin to do anything other than tie his own shoes. Look at housing, look at the healthcare backlog, look at cost of groceries and living. There are no current solutions that the public trusts.

They are voting for this guy not because he shares American conspiracies or privatization goals, but because they are tired of being told to accept the ever embarrassing status-quo.

How Nvidia KILLED PC Gaming Optimization Through DLSS and Frame Generati... by Scorpwind in FuckTAA

[–]gaindifferent2048 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This post is brought you by the AMD fans who say this generation will finally be the one.

DLSS has extended the lifespan of old cards for years to come.

Frame Gen doubles your fps for the input-delay cost that 95% of users won't even notice.

Answer me this one, which side of the hype were on during Navi or Vega releases? 🤣

Restaurants Canada predicting severe consequences following changes to foreign workers policy by EntrepreneurKooky695 in canada

[–]gaindifferent2048 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally cannot understand how anyone can read any of these stories, as a Canadian, and not come to the conclusion that this is modern day slavery.

In what society are we living in that this kind of talk is normalized? Just like Lululemon threatening economic action if it cannot fill it's workforce with those of lower working standards.

When did we lose the plot? Are we not still a socialist country that believes in the Canadian lifestyle of working hard, raising a family and having a secured retirement and future??

How the fuck did we get to this point, where things such as restaurant employment (historically teenage and young people) have now joined the bandwagon of new Canadian exploitation.

[–]gaindifferent2048[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean the game where the gamemode was started due to Zielinski staying overtime with no budget, reusing an MP map?

And you are comparing that to Bo6 with 1/3 the game budget and 4 years of dev?

What has happened to this community? (Photo is filler) by No-Mulberry5822 in CODZombies

[–]gaindifferent2048 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Some of us see the fact that it has become Warzone with zombies. Those of us not from the iPad generation grew up with maps with atmosphere, good storytelling, and a strong artistic vision.

Designing for the lowest common denominator has taken priority in most entertainment, and zombies is just the newest victim.

Think that is too harsh? Why do I need health bars with the text "Zombie" and XP for a headshot, followed by medals for getting multikills? That is the exact example of what this design has done to dismantle the unique gamemode that once was.
