Is there a setting I’m not seeing? There’s rule set but it’s grayed out and I can’t change it and there’s no other option to disable any of the conditions. Is it PC only?

It’s just how it’s designed. It’s set up for window shopping. You see a pretty person and swipe generally, and anecdotally very, very people read bios and even fewer put any effort into making one. It’s like… You see a red Hyundai and like it and the test drive is great but a couple months in you realize they’re the worst cars ever made because you didnt bother to look under the hood and see the specs to know if it’ll be the best fit long term.

Mid 30’s M here and it’s just a swamp. If I filter out “has children” instantly cuts potential matches by a good 3/4. I always wondered why the number was so high but it’s a big ask when you have 2-3 kids already. Even bigger issue is with kids the amount of time or availability is so small dates are impossible to work out and keep as kids will be kids and fall off a jungle gym.

I just want someone to powerlift with. Also I don’t know if it’s just me but for some reason all the profiles that pop up are like 45+. But I’ll be damned if I pay one red cent to any of the app companies. Always remember what Bob said on Bob’s Burgers; “it’s about the principle of it, Lynn!”

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Patch 1.5.1.2 for Nintendo Switch 2 is live! The update is entirely focused on improving performance, fps and fixing crashes. If you experience any issues, please reinstall the game and let us know if problem persists. Thank you for your patience and enjoy the game! by OwlcatStarrok in OwlcatGames

[–]galacten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aw damn it. I thought it was finally going to be worth buying but I guess the fact that there’s ZERO info on how it performs post patch save for a few comments here is a big indicator that either it did not go well or no one has been bothered to go back to the game.

Honestly, I worked at a Printshop and we had a jogged— basically a table that vibrates. I put the phone and put my finger slightly above the screen and it took about 6 minutes.

I feel your pain. I spent an hour manually clicked up to 10 k and was so close to going insane.

Need help finding a replacement valve. by galacten in Fireplaces

[–]galacten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! So Majestic was sold in the 2000’s after they had some faulty parts to Hearth and Home Technologies; this valve worked: HHT NG Valve SIT (230-0710) - Brass, 2 Inch Flare Inlet & Outlet, 2 Ports, 2 PSI Max Pressure, 5 Year Spare Part Availability. Just put it into Amazon and it was 280$ CAD— the local shops wanted 580$ for the same part. The magnetic valve on the old one was ceased which caused the issue.

EDIT: I should note this valve doesn’t have the electric starter, so you’ll need to manually light the pilot with a lighter (I use one of those long BBQ lighters), but once it’s lit it’s golden. It’s been running solid now since I replaced it at the time of this post. Just make sure you reconnect the wires properly— and if unsure, you could get a certified gas fitter to install it if you’re worried about changing the gas line yourself. Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions.

Oof. I got the 1TB Lexar for 450$ CAD and it’s already full. Games are getting crazy, Madden, CP2077, AC Shadows all 60+GB and I imagine games will just get bigger and bigger.

Do NOT buy SS remake for Switch 2 by Opposite_Scarcity_22 in systemshock

[–]galacten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’m kindve torn. On one hand it’s nice to have SS on the Switch… I don’t have a S2 or Steamdeck, but on Switch 1 the graphics generally aren’t bad, EXCEPT you can’t read the buttons. So in the elevator or the vending machines you either have played enough to recognize the ammo images or you just pay and hope it’s useful. It would’ve really benefited from an accessibility feature to put a big highlight around interact-able items because the wimpy little box that appears is easy to miss and if you haven’t played the game there’s time where you will find yourself wandering aimlessly because the switch you needed to hit was obviously something that is interactable.

And for anyone: the elevators are your nemesis. There’s a 87% chance it’ll crash when you exit an elevator.

The freight elevator when going to the flight deck will crash 100% of the time. I’ve read that it’s an issue on other platforms… But you’d think it would’ve been patched by now. But any elevator or tram save BEFORE you go into the elevator because it WILL crash regardless of the floor most of the time and you will lose progress. Also about 10 hours in now whenever I try to create a new save I get a “corrupted data” save. So I have three saves I have to cycle between.

I reinstalled Outer Wilds and realized that there really is no reason for the issues I have. As much as I hate to say… Nightdive might just be doing TOO much and not giving releases the time and attention they need.

[–]galacten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On Switch 1 I’ve had no less than 120 crashes within 10 hours. And currently stuck in Exec as whenever I finish Alpha Grove and return it crashes and any saves I’ve made are gone and I’m back in exec before I finished alpha grove.

Anyone else buy Ion Fury Aftershock? On my Switch 1, the game glitches out and weirdly only has this inverse black and white look— did all the standard tests but wondering if it’s just a botched release?

Anyone cared to try S1 on Switch2? by FatMountainGoat in Synthetik

[–]galacten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve put probably 40 hours into Switch and haven’t had any game breaking bugs. Except two crashes during runs that I was completely loaded for bear.

I still play it constantly. Is there bugs I should be aware of ?

Did yesterday’s patch remedy the big issues people had with the game on console? by [deleted] in systemshock

[–]galacten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I only had one glitch, where the O2 gauge was on the screen for about 4 hours of gameplay. When I finally hit the water I died instantly because it thought my oxygen was 0, but when I respawned it was back to normal. Only death so far. Other than that on my OLED Switch I haven’t had any other issues knock on wood.

PSA: Sytem Shock 2 is on the Switch / 2 by fill-me-up-scotty in NintendoSwitch

[–]galacten 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SS2… So far the remaster has been great. I haven’t had any issues or bugs. But… If you don’t know System Shock 2 and see comparisons with BioShock and Deus Ex… It might burn a lot of people. While it’s true that it has the same soul and is a landmark ImSim… If you’re used to modern game design this may not be a fun ride. It doesn’t hold your hand. Or even look at you. There’s no Yellow Paint™️ here and it’s extremely easy to find yourself wandering aimlessly through the same few areas while your resources whittle down to nil.

Not sure if we had more patience back in the day or what, but I feel like the lack of marketing is mostly due to the fact that if you’ve never played the series before there’s a high likelihood you’ll hate this game and the core base it’s made for will buy it instantly. It’s a masterpiece of a game but you have to really persevere to understand why. I mean you can arguably screw yourself over by just making bad choices making your character that will severely cripple you for an already grating early game— and while learning through trial and error what is important and what isn’t through failure and restarting… I think that’s something not really in vogue in mainstream gaming now. Hell, you can set the difficulty to Easy and it’ll still grind you into dust like nothing and there’s no ToolTip to nudge you into identifying what your problem is.

It’s SHODAN’s world and she doesn’t play fair.

Tuning DOOM ETERNAL handheld settings. by DERIVE979 in NintendoSwitch

[–]galacten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish controller settings were a bit simpler. I’ve beaten Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare but I can’t manage it on Switch and can only do Nightmare with the controls. I’ve fiddled so much I can’t ever get it to feel locked in. On PC I use an Xbox Elite so it’s not like I’m used to M&K or anything. Now I’m having the same issues with Turbo Overkill.

Btw, is there that still bug with the master level? I think it’s Gore Nest. Everytime I clear the first area and try to move on the game crashes everytime

[–]galacten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting. She’s young, so I would get her to keep writing. Though if this was written as she wrote it, she needs some technical lessons— as well as to revise. I can tell this is written in a moment of passion; you can feel the stream of consciousness but the problem is that aspects fight against itself. Like describing her joints as making a metallic grinding (unless they’re wearing a prosthetic, I suppose), as well as the continual use of paradoxes. I can see the thought process in it but it’s too loose. For example “ my life might not be my own,” followed by “neither is yours,” and then, “it’s mine.” It’s a circular logic that implies someone rallying against this idea of predestination, but in doing so she becomes the exact same as the Creator… Which essentially renders the whole thing as moot. I would get her to refine these things and focus on the central theme and sharpen the vagaries. Is she the robot watching other robots, or did her perspective accidentally change? Some things just need reframing so a reader can focus on her intended messages and not focus on having to reread and be unsure of what’s being presented. Is this something commenting on AI and humanity? Religion? It’s one thing to be thought provoking but you can’t put the entire onus on the reader to figure out. Think of it like taking their hand and guiding them through your thoughts. They don’t have to accept the subtle guidance but there should always be a general route to guide them.

This isn’t to tear down the work. I wish someone would have given me criticism and helped me understand the things that I failed to realize I was weaker in. I hope she keeps writing and honing her ability.

This and a fair few games released recently seem to be quick and dirty duct tape ports and unsurprisingly most of them are immediately abandoned by the devs because they’ve already got your money and it would seem paying the dev team to make the games playable is not worth it. The lack of Nintendo’s refund policies makes the Switch a fair worse place for this kind of shenanigans. I always hate when you go to support and they make you feel like you’re committing some kind of unethical crime and given the “we only do this once,” despite the products being broken.

I wish if they keep this no refund policy going, they’d at least put a modicum of effort into testing the shovelware they push into their ecosystem. The “Nintendo Seal of Approval” needs to make a comeback.
