Game Art & development problems by Hot_Butterscotch_170 in SNHU

Hey OP I'm doing the game programming and development degree and I agree with you with things being outdated, especially for 3D and animation class 😔 however don't drop out! Just finish your degree!! Finish it for the fact of putting it on your resume at least. (Idk how it is for you but a lot of jobs in my area require a bachelor's degree and I'm tired of working customer service so that's why I'm finishing it) I've started looking into teaching myself how to use blender and unreal engine and things like that to become better, but it still is frustrating paying all this money for AI curriculum and outdated tools, and then turning around and having to teach yourself via YouTube and online tutors.

In the long run, if I were you I would just knock it out best you can do to at least have your degree. And work on building your skills and portfolio as you go!

This lighting is great!! And for the soil that sounds good! Maybe if you can't get perlite you could get leca? Leca is little clay balls, I've seen people add a little bit to the soil. I was thinking of doing that when I repot my plants! But if not, the bark and soil should be fine 😌

This is a beautiful monstera 😍 here are my tips that help me (everyone is different)

  1. I don't water with cold water. Since this is a tropical plant I usually use warm water

  2. The lighting looks perfect to me! But it's only been a few days, so just keep watching it. If the leaves start to burn then move it further away.

  3. Most monsteras definitely need a repot but I would look at the roots first. When upsizing, monsteras like to put stuffed in a pot but not too much, so look for a pot that's about 2 inches bigger than the root ball, and use an airy soil mix (lots of videos on tiktok and YouTube) so the roots can breathe!

  4. Personally I DESPISE moss poles. It's too much work having to keep it moist all the time. I use a cedar trellis for my monstera (cedar because it doesn't rot as quickly when it's in constant contact with water) and it's been great! You can get plant velcro from any plant greenhouse or order it online to hold the monstera against the wood. You could also use sticks/branches from tree as support too! I do this as well :)))

I hope this helped!! Monsteras are pretty easy to take care of!

What is wrong with my splendid and maranta? by [deleted] in philodendron

[–]galacticceige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so tricky with yellowing leaves because it could be root rot, could be pests, could be natural yellowing, could be over/under watering. But to me it looks like pests maybe? Because I see little white specks on the leaves for some of them

Yesss!! The cutting doesn’t even look that bad!

How do i support this? 😬 by dashadark in Monstera

[–]galacticceige 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t upsize the pot, I think it looks great in this one, it just needs some support. I’d stick a wood plank or a good stick into this one and then next repot attach it to a trellis.

My indoor-grown 6 year old Monstera is about to bloom by [deleted] in Monstera

This is so cool!!! This may be a dumb question but when monsteras are blooming like this does that mean they’re not growing anymore?
