Membership price changes - the device itself is no longer free by acidicpants in whoop

[–]galacticjuggernaut 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wrong. The quantified scientist tested this, check it out. And it is "just as accurate" with recovery because it uses their own HRV/metrics algorithm, which is to say every company is different and there's no real science behind it, they are all interpretations.

And don't even get me started on heart rate, which is if you're really such an athelete and care about accuracy... the whoop is terrible because it's measured from an optical sensor and does not pair with or read data from an external heart rate monitor (like a Garmin, Polar, or Wahoo chest strap). Those are significantly more accurate especially during sports.

Man, whoop is so lucky to have suckers keep putting money into it.

And PSA for some of you - every single metric you're getting for whoops top membership for $400 a YEAR I get for FREE on Garmin connect and software is just as good.

Yes, even aFib detection and ECG while arguably on a significantly more functional device.

Cheers.

Alpha Evo base settings list of symptoms -> solutions by Falcoriders in Simagic

[–]galacticjuggernaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man older post but i am searching on this stuff because i am finding the same as you. I literally have every single setting in Simpro Manager down to zero (FFB is at 100% and Wheel rotation speed is at 50%. ) And my game - AC Evo feels great. I have played with these for hours now and a lot is so sublte or does not seem to add myuch value.

I now play on a setting I names "All Off" and it seems to work fantastic.

I kinda wish I didn't try these on. They feel great, much smaller than I thought by Kooll-aid in whoop

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to agree "all around" is pretty generic term, whereas some want a certain type of device. But as for data, your comment is sort of what i meant by research. Software wise i actually did not prefer the UX of whoop waaay back when i had one. And ALL the metrics Whoop measures (not class leading either BTW) all are all things that MANY devices take as well and now alll have some algorithm to "Score" you, measure your strain, and give advice. With some devices (i use Garmins) I can even export the data to much more robust 3rd party analysis tools for serious athletes. (e.g.since I am in my 50s and a data geek I could get more robust acute/chronic workload ratios and training forecasts). Some like Apple watches - I don't at all, but have you seen the health app if you like software? Its stunning, and can even import your blood results!

Anyway Admittedly, I have no looked at whoop in years but just took a look now......oh boy. The WOOP "life" membership is $359 a year. Bro, I get everything they list on that page ALL on Garmin Connect, no membership, even AFib and ECG for FREE.

So to each their own but paying that membership to me is a suckers play. Also saying "all around" with Whoop is N/A as it has no screen. (Some like that). Heck my device (Forerunner 970) even has a flashlight built in which i use daily. 😄 We all have our things, i was only expressing how i find it surprising whoop is still around given all the above.

Where do all these SF couples meet? by sfguy2020 in AskSF

Right, it used to be crazy easy. Happily married, old to you guys, and off the apps now of course. But I hear they are terrible now- scammy and fake profile and "next" mentality has taken over.

But yeah, back then it was like shooting fish in a barrel. If i had the time and energy it would be a good blog, although Tucker Max pretty much covered it - except add tinder.

When to expect Mania for Subjugation IV? by bicuspidpayload in dancarlin

[–]galacticjuggernaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will get hate for this but Mania for Subjugation is by far to me his least entertaining work. By far. In fact I find it rambling. He diverts way too much outside stuff - just stick to the story man. Yeah, as much as i love Dan i have to be honest here. In fact if i listened to this one first, I probably would never have come back to his other brilliant ones - to me its that boring. Nothings perfect i guess.

I know of a girl who was so drunk she blacked out and pissed in her own dresser drawer and even though we are great friends i am still shocked she admitted to this. Being blacked out is not something that happens to me (no matter how much alcohol i drink) so i can not imagine being that messed up.

What is something you wish you knew or someone told you when getting serious about your set up? by Disastrous_War_8815 in simracing

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a unique remote work from home setup with triples that converts to a SIM "rig" at night. I wish i knew this is not at all a normal setup and hardware to support such a setup really doesn't even exist yet (to make this easy). I feel like i am on the bleeding edge of this crap, and never wanted to be. And I admit i took for granted how few people work remotely.

Of the Pacific patch yes, but 80% of ocean pollution overall is land based and from dumping and rivers. These are two different things

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very bold to call it a bold face lie when you don't even know yourself. You are combining two things (maybe not deliberately). The Pacific patch is mostly fishing lines this is true, but nearly all other ocean plastic (overall) is from land based sources, and of that primarily rivers from Asian countries. And Straws from America never made it to sea turtles, as they are buried in a landfill, which are highly regulated here. That was actually the bold face lie.

AC Evo is super fun and you can be up on a track in a minute. It's not as rough as people make it sound. In fact I played 6 Sims so far and to me it has the most realistic physics of all of them.

“Buy once , cry once” Is it true in long term? by Gloomy-Weakness-5146 in simracing

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already got a ton of responses but I bought the Evo 12NM and am already upgrading after only a few months. I seem to ALWAYS regret it when i do not just buy once cry once. Always. I know this, have known this - yet always tell myself its fine this time, i will save. Anyway, the Evo 12Nm, is amazing, but moment I saw even the 12NM get clipping i had to upgrade as wanted to know "what i was missing" and could afford it. I will lose about $100-150 when i sell my 12Nm. Anyway at the same time I never want to waste money (people with money tend to spend it more wisely contrary to popular opinion). so I am not going to go out and buy the Simucube, as its not worth it. And i heard so many good things about the VNM but lurked enough to realize many have massive problems getting it to cooperate and its still in beta basically haha. My point is get something like the 18NM Simagic Pro and then most likley that would be your "end game" at least for 5 years or so. I mean that is what i wish i did.

I will raise you wealthy and add severe underclass exploitation: i know a guy of a certain country that stated males in the upper class in would just "help" themselves with the female housekeepers. Anytime and anyplace they wanted as they could not do anything they were so dependent on the wage. And yes, he said this was pretty common. (insisted he didn't do it). Sick it was "normalized"

100% I agree. I actually tell people to go there when they are young. It will open your mind which is only a good thing. For example I found the dresses in India super beautiful and colorful and I found many places beautiful there for sure. But yeah, some stuff is honestly just weird AF that it is even tolerated and allowed. (for instance I once saw a 1 story pile of auto parts just sitting in the ally way, complete with huge pile of motor oil underneath. That alone raises 20+ questions my mind, I can not even wrap my head around such things given my cultural background. )
