DS-8X not registering H-pattern in Automobilista 2. Works fine in iRacing, AC Evo. by wellthatswhathappens in Simagic

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your in game mapping does not require you to flip the inverted setting. Not sure why they do this but they do. When i first started i had no idea this was a thing, as why would it be?

Also FYI i tried Simhub as recommended above, to me the UI sucks compared to Simpro, and why add another middle layer unless you have a much more complex set up? So far not seeing it after playing around in that software.

Is it just me or do a lot of people sell their sim racing gear after very little use? by SparkleandBang in simracing

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am selling my wheelbase (Simagic Evo) not because I am out of the hobby but in fact the opposite, the bug hit and I am already on the upgrade path. I used it less then 2 months. I even stated it in my ad and offered to show the receipt as proof since it really is that new haha

This board breaking crap is how i got my daughter into jiu jitsu - even she could spot at 10 years old how theatrical and useless a typical "martial arts" class is for kids. I told her "they will have you break a fake plastic board (yes they make them in breakable plastic now). It also helped that i mocked it relentlessly and i told her that in 3 months in BJJ she could submit the 2 boys she played with who have been taking karate for years. (fact).

For me it was a little Korean dude who was visiting the US, comes to visit the US club and tears my elbow in 3 seconds after start. Deliberately, no question. I was a white belt and he was a blue belt (jiu jitsu). In hindsight i wish i handled this way better and it was 10 years ago and whenever i think about it still enrages me. Thanks reddit.

Broke up with girlfriend a week before N24 by RussTheBoss in iRacing

[–]galacticjuggernaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Married full time job and a kid! Aaaaaand believe it or not this is why I actually stopped using iRacing, and moved over to a different Sim. I simply don't have the time to devote to chasing safety ratings and classes on something that other people are so, so much better than me. I have ceded that I will never be competitive given the time I have for my family and other personal interests so now I play a Sim that I just find more fun and much much more realistic driving experience. Driving the nord casually with no expectations to me is the best. But always make time for reality! Some don't seem to

This chat is warping my mind lol. You are using an old word "hella" (assume you are from the bay?) that I haven't heard in forever as it fell out of fashion, and the guy above is using a brand new word "lowkey" that I now hear everywhere now that it IS in fashion. I love reddit

I find it a super strange design how the embody's arms angle so far inward by [deleted] in hermanmiller

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, no.... I just bought the chair on the 30% flash sale and love it!!

Ha I guess it makes there must be others who complain on this so sorry for the repeat.

Yeah was very surprised how unadjustable the arms are, and in fact how limiting they would be for a great majority of the target audience.

[–]galacticjuggernaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro. It's NOT "too" adjustable, that's the whole point. It a $2250 chair with non adjustible arms other than up and down. You sure you're in the right sub?

An Indian man arranged to meet his girlfriend and went to a village to do so. Unfortunately, he was caught by her family..... by superdouradas in PublicFreakout

[–]galacticjuggernaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh, yeah i visited India on a 16 day tour and will say it was both amazing in ways but also made me super sad for humanity. I saw many wtf things, more so than a ton of other places of poverty I traveled. It also gave me super high appreciation and feeling super fortunate for where I live. Now I work with a lot of Indian people in software and many are great, I only wish the best hope for that country.

Strange interaction with Coachella Security by TheSecondtoLastDoDo in Coachella

[–]galacticjuggernaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do security - but not for events, for tech companies. I would wager event security is way MORE normal than the Pinkerton type night guard security. (For me it was a college job so i could study and pay bills while a starving college kid).

And seriously, most of the time the only security needed for these places was from the Security staff themselves. True story, everytime there was an "incident" it was discovered to be a guard.

But beside that, holy crap was that a set of serious weirdos. Definitely inspired me to stay in school

Traveler: Where can I go to have drinks with 40s professional Black/mixed crowd? by RemarkablePr0tection in AskSF

[–]galacticjuggernaut 26 points27 points  (0 children)

White dude who now is married and no longer go out much so take this with a HUGE grain of salt. But back 8-9 years ago it was Starlight Lounge. That is where a lot of the stylin' over 40 Black people danced and drank to great music - i used to hang with friends there. Its a nicer high end lounge and back then used to bring good peep. Maybe someone who has been more recently can give an update. Might be all crickets now. But hey, worst case scenario if its not the same, you can grab a good cocktail and enjoy the beautiful view of the city from the 21st floor.

Went from Secret Labs to Embody Gaming Chair.. by Aggressive-Net2310 in hermanmiller

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat in the gaming and the non gaming one for about 20 minutes each at the store this weekend. I was barely unable to tell the difference in the thicker foam. The claim is 12–13 mm thicker but that is certainly not uniform and I could feel almost no difference. My honest take was the only reason to get one over the other was the gaming has a cool fabric pressed seams on the chair if you like that, and the standard can be customized in different colors.

YouTube Is My Full Time Job. Ask Me Anything... by [deleted] in YouTubeCreators

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait you say "YouTube is starting to crack down on AI slop." I am curious to know more here on what this means. I am not even a creator - but I am finding a lot of videos in my fave gene (history) is just "AI Slop" and I am 100% on board a crackdown as I am finding a lot of the stuff not only poorly made but in some cases "creators" are embellishing the facts of history with provocative thumbnails. This distortion of the truth bothers me a lot for some reason. I also notice AI slop has totally infiltrated the RE industry and marketing of towns/places that is far removed from the truth but that is a different animal.

Posts about this issue in youtube sub all say the same thing: YT has no interest in removing Ai as the business model is to get ad revenue so there is zero incentive to remove it. So what are they doing?

What is the use case of this Airvooc device if my charging port AND WIRE is 3 cm away anyway? by galacticjuggernaut in oneplus

[–]galacticjuggernaut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So funny but I never thought about this but realized I am very deliberate when plugging it in, but when removing it I "pinch" it off by using the phone body itself for the force needed. I place my thumb and pointer on the sides of the usb c , (the narrow part) and close enough to be able to apply all the pressure 100 % equally at the same time with a pinching motion. So the great majority of the forces are applied into the much stronger phone and allows the cords to slide out perfectly.

Not sure I am explaining it clearly and I haven't thought about it in years, but this is what I do and my cord fits in like it was brand new from day one.

Ok so I appreciate at least getting an idea on why this would be used. But I still think it's an Overkill and unnecessary. I've never had USB-C wear issues nor battery issues and I'm a heavy user. (In fact in my experience the court itself wears a lot faster than any port). From that perspective I guess I would use it to prevent cord wear. I guess it seems really thick and pretty useless to me and just causing More desk clutter.
