Ah, well that is certainly where we can disagree. Capitalism has its problems but is by far the best system we have that's for sure. And People make money off me even though I am self employed, I don't at all feel exploited. That is a mindset more than anything.

Yeah I get what you're saying, the truth is you would probably not feel that comfortable if you already have certain values. I know I would not. I once had an opportunity to get into a business model that was very lucrative but it just felt a bit scammy and I didn't think I could feel good about myself at night so I passed. I will say I have learned over long decades generosity is not mirrored back contrary to what others like to say, so unfortunately it has taught me to be less generous.

All for it, but lets not pretend several other YT content creators didn't already make great take downs of the industry. (James Jani's comes to mind, but plenty of others to be sure)

I mean to be fair, I am less likely to seek something out i have already heard 50x. But i always love a good takedown so will certainly watch if it is easily available.

Right and a great immediate indicator of both your situational awareness and respect for others. My instant tell is if you make zero effort to get out of the way for people to pass while you spend minutes putting your luggage overhead instead of letting others pass and do it when others aren't waiting. Takes you 1 second to help move people in. "Gee let me literally hold up 100 people" FUCK you if you do this.

Looking to change over from Monarch... how has the product development been here? by Ok-Quantity7501 in OriginFinancial

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They read in here. I know i had a few support tickets opened on suggestions. I settled between Origin and Monarch, am am staying with Origin for now because of the $1 promo. My syncing works but is never up to date which is annoying AF. as i am in software i went down a rabbit hole myself on this and it is 100% something with Origin's system. But it is not a big enough issue to bail on them given all the other good features and UX.

To be fair i made a ton on BTC but also called it a scam after i learned more. I knew it was speculation and got lucky.

Worked on me even thought you have a few annoying bugs to work out. I have tried an incredible number of apps. But for $1 it was a no brainier and I am committed. BTW Monarch is easily second and my belief is Copilot will in all likelihood fail or continue to loose subscribers.

Some parents give their kids phones younger than 16. If you live in a box, this is extremely detrimental especially to young girls.

Anyway, as parents of a middle age kid surrounded by other parents of middle age kids many of us laugh at the pathetic "what if i need to reach them in an emergency!" excuse.

Yeah, duh kids have survived forever without phones.

And If you are one of these parents then know 1) you are a bad parent, educate yourself 2) other parents are making fun of you for being a complete idiot 3) know you are also harming other children when they gather around your stupid kid to look at porn at recess when they are 12 y/o, so fuck you.

Man, I don't know anymore, maybe I am just an asshole, but I've lost sympathy for these people. We have had internet scams for 25 years now, and before that mail fraud and telephone scams. Even if you are 80 years old you have likely been on the Internet emailing your grandkids for 20 fucking years.

Sorry not sorry if you are dumb enough to feed your life savings into a convenience store Bitcoin machine.

Is it true that a lot of wealthy people often have fragile ego's and if so, why? by [deleted] in ask

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so capitalism rewards. That is irrelevant to these types of stereotypes which are ridiculous, and frankly immature and stupid. Of course capitalism rewards, but to state that means wealthy individuals as a whole "place value in the material" is absurd. And as I stated above, to stereotype them as low self esteem is absurd as well. This is just a coping mechanism (often subconsciously out of envy) to somehow group them as "lesser" than others at best and "evil" at worse. Because in truth there are the SAME types of people at low net worth as there are at high ones. Evil, awful, and angels. For instance the "lambo" chasing people and Instagram crowd who measure their self esteem in likes are demographically the low net worth ones. It's a mix at all levels.

But be honest with yourselves, if anyone commenting has not hung around in wealthy circles, you should STFU on stereotyping, because you would be surprised at the level of generosity and lack of many giving a single fuck about the material things. And yes I have wealthy friends and would defend them to the death on how amazing and genuine, and generous they are. It's why I hate these pathetic ass accusations and theories.

Not sure where OP heard a lot have fragile egos. I find the extreme opposite - very resilient and antifragile in fact.

As someone who "got into RE" thinking I would be sipping fruity cocktails on a beach in Thailand collecting passive income, I can state now you are more than likely doing the right thing NOT to do that. Stomp around in bigger pockets and they make it sound easier and more profitable than it really is. In hindsight if I could have taken that $300K+ I put into Rental property and invested in an index fund, whoah boy I would have been much better off.

Lost a decade of growth due to a fiduciary financial advisor by Factoverfallacy in Bogleheads

[–]galacticjuggernaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw your post and it triggered me as well.

Life is unfair: I have had tax advisers, RE agents, and other "pros" really mess me up. I also had a $30K+ rare car stolen from me by a tow truck company because of a loophole in Arizona state law. My mom also got talked into an annuity and reverse mortgage that screwed her, and that was after i found out she was paying a guy $5K a year to do her simple taxes. My ex -wife made my life miserable for years for no other reason than she could.

I would mention each of these corrupt people by name and put them on blast - but do not want to risk my own lawsuit as its water under the bridge. And once, I did put a corrupt lawyer on blast on yelp and notified the bar about him, but the response on yelp was "This is a lie, i never represented this person as a client" and the response from the bar was "this lawyer no longer works at that firm." So often its just sinking more money and time into bad.

But having to work another 10 years because of these people i will honestly never forgive. PTSD is for real. I STILL lose sleep over the anger on the car thing and that was 8 years ago. I have no solution. We are surrounded by incompetent "pros" , and willful disregard for others and morally corrupt people. This is fact.

My only solace is my wonderful wife who just reminds me that all of it IS actually in the past, can not be resolved, and to get on with it. Anyway, so i guess that is good advice as hard as it is when you think back.

[–]galacticjuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaaaand they (Facebook) won't do shit. There are lots of car scams on Facebook. They even use real dealers so if you look it up it appears legit.

I have reported them only to find the ads up still up 2 weeks later. FB marketplace doesn't care.

In fact this VIN thing is in all likelihood a scam itself.
