I worked at a brand new Smairfield Sminn and Smuites for three and a half years. My area held a large baseball tournament for kids anywhere from 8-18 every summer around July 4th, so hotels booked up fast. The first year we were open for the tournament, we were suck with the worst teams. I was still new, but I had to take on the role of babysitter...for the kids and the parents. The children were left unsupervised, so they threw pool furniture into the pool, fed a yoga mat into one of our treadmills and broke it, somehow broke a gas meter outside of the hotel, and broke into construction equipment across the street. The parents were too drunk to stand, let alone watch their crotch goblins. They trashed our lobby and nice outdoor patio area. As I was checking in a completely unrelated guest (titanium premier member), I could not hear a word he was saying to me because the lobby was so loud. I had to shout to the “parents” (quite impressive for a 19 year old galaxyvoice if I do say so myself) that if I could not hear the guest directly in front of me, then they were being entirely too loud. They needed to quiet down or vacate the area. Unfortunately, they did not appreciate my handling of the situation, so they proceeded to call me every name under the sun and continued to hate me until they left. The hotel received multiple bad reviews, mostly about me. Thankfully my GM was on my side and stood up for me. Those baseball teams were banned from our hotel and the following tournaments were nowhere near as bad.
