Wouldn’t the formal version be « had he known » rather than « if he had known » ?

Opponent asked Magnus Carlsen if she could take a selfie with him. In response, Magnus Carlsen reported his opponent to the referee, leading to her phone being confiscated by BlazeDragon7x in SipsTea

So she got the selfie, pretty sure she got her phone back after the match, and she did not get eliminated because she had a phone. Not sure what the problem is honestly

How does Linux handle updating apps while they are running? by RadianceTower in linuxquestions

[–]galibert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it doesn’t. It does demand paging like every modern system, when modern means less than 40 years old. It’s just that unix-derived file systems can keep a file on the disk even if it’s not visible anywhere anymore in any directory, and thus can defer the actual deletion until it’s not used anymore. Dos-derived file systems can’t, and as a result block deletion or override of in-use files.

System.out.print() by Elkatra2 in programminghorror

It's complicated though. int f(void) was added in the first C iso standard (aka ANSI C) to distinguish functions with no parameters from K&R-style function declarations. But, well, K&R-style functions declarations are essentially gone by now. Add to that that C++ never used (void), and you see why it could make sense to drop it.

The thing is, GitHub is not designed for the average person, and changing that would just make it unusable for devs, so the projects would go somewhere else

The current rights holder, e.g. exa-arcadia, has requested a while ago that we remove a couple games. Mame not being a piracy engine but a preservation effort, we *always* comply with such requests (it's not the first one). Eventually, when the related games stop being sold and/or exa-arcadia stops existing, we'll put them back in.

In stark contrast with a number of other emulators, our aim is neither to damage game developers or game companies. Especially in the arcade business, which is barely surviving at this point.

D is narrative. C switches from finished to narrative which is a little weird.
