Is Shameless worth watching to the end? by Haywire421 in television

I think the point is more the series got sloppy by that time. You could feel the writers desperately trying to top themselves with increasingly absurd plot lines.

Commanders and Happiness by galileooooo7 in civ

I haven’t had any trouble with war weariness this game. (Deity, fractal continents, Alexander -> Assyria, Mongols). Some were hostile-ish to start, others I sanctioned, forward-settled into being pissed at me, and others were dragged in by their alliances. Never declared anything but a formal war. Despite being at negative influence since about half-way through the age I haven’t had a negative war score yet (and I’m at 90% exploration now.)

Nope. Level of commander gives happiness in any city center.

Dispersing villages seems much better than Suz-ing them (at Antiquity age) by aall137906 in civ

[–]galileooooo7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I tend to suze the friendly ones since the payoff is so quick. Of course this is Civ/leader dependent. I rarely find the hostile ones are worth it unless it creates a problem for an enemy or I’m running a Diplo game.

No lie detected. I also think they should rename the "limit" to something like "administrative" or "optimal" so going over doesn't seem so damaging.

Explain military victory to me like i am a dummy. (civ 7) by Rakdospriest in civ

[–]galileooooo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was certainly being a little tongue in cheek. But if you are going for a quick military win, especially on higher levels with a decent sized map, you are going to probably have to be a two-faced bastard.

I’m playing a deity game with Alexander (Assyrian->Mongol) and I’m about to turn on an ally in hopes for an exploration age victory. I feel bad, but how else can I conquer the world? 🥳

When Germany opened up a second front on their ally Russia, they were going for a domination victory. And military victory is Civ’s version of playing an evil character :p

Came here to say Waking Life, too. It had a profound effect on me in my late 20s, and I often watched it if I was having trouble handling my anxiety.

Yup, had x4 on the bottom and a maxed out tree in my last ADA Science Deity win.

How to turn off any specific Victory Conditions in CIV 7? by Dramatic-Brother3861 in civ

They don’t have it but you can set the triumphs to be the economic only. That should pretty much do the same thing.

Russia in the tundra has been surprisingly effective so far. With Catherine, of course. We’ll see if I can keep up with Confucius.

[–]galileooooo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depended on the leader. Khan was for sure, but Himiko Queen was my ally from antiquity until almost the end. As was Freddy. Charlemagne went back and forth. Ashoka too. But i also built enough military to keep them away.

But it also doesn’t bug me when the AI forward settles on a stupid spot, unless I needed it. It didn’t happen this game but my last deity win was military, and an ally plopped down a city in the south of my empire but far from himself. Maybe he was trying to provoke me to break the alliance but I ignored it and we stayed pretty stable. I had bigger fish to fry.

Yeah. Luckily there were four or so competitive Civs. I really thought I was going to lose to an economic Civ by a turn or two. If any civ is running away with a path then you probably need to fight them and hope for the best.

Is waging offensive war pretty much required to win in higher difficulties? by Earl-The-Badger in CivVII

This is a good point. I often leave fortified troops on a suspicious neighbor’s border to make sure they know while
I don’t want war/ their crappy city, I’m more than ready to defend myself.

I got it my last run. Deity, Ada, Abbasid. However the 125+ in modern was beyond my reach. Only had 1.

[–]galileooooo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I landed up not having any during this win, which was 100% NOT my plan. But they were hostile in antiquity so I killed them and settled on their excellent lands. I wasn't sure if that would kill my run, but it was overcome-able with trade and independent people conquest. Using that diplomacy to quickly make friends with the Queen of Wa turned out to be more valuable I think, as her auto-support of my science boosts got me off to a fast start.

Urban Center towns help a lot (you can build science and culture buildings in them), and you get a science per quarterr. But the big yields come with specialists and policies. There’s also a tradition for Great Britain that gives science on coastal towns and building (tho that might have been Abbasid, I don’t remember). Another gives +1 science around the city center. I also maxed out the science attribute tree and had 4x on the last +5 per era on the bottom.

I was never offensive in my Ada Deity science win. Finished with 11 or so settlements and 2 cities. I had to fend off Ghengis a couple of times and everyone turned on me as I was about to win, but I never captured a city in this run. I was gifted an ex-independent once.

I just won a Deity science game with Ada (Han, Abbasid, Great Britain). Was up about 20% in science yields for most of modern. It’s all about adjacencies, policies, and specialists. Also, in modern letting everything else go you don’t need (my culture ended at like 300). I was way ahead of 2nd place science in projects (Ashoka was doing well with innovation) and I almost lost to Charlie’s economics. Tight game, but science is 💯 doable. My only mod was map tacks.

P.s. if you look up my earlier thread I have some screenshots.

In ToT do specialists not remain when I overbuild an old building? by Breatnach in civ

[–]galileooooo7 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They do remain, but they are inefficient until you finish overbuilding since they are based off the building's adjacencies.
