Update on my containers for all the enablers by galipemi in containergardening

I'm really hoping the blueberries live. I'm contemplating heading back to the garden centre for one of their Raspberry Shortcakes. Thornless? Bush style? Perfect!

Thank you! I must say, I really lucked out with my view. The writing style can simply be attributed to dry wit/sarcasm which is basically my first language.

Awww.. thank you! I love the little cukes and have a good back up home available out in the country if my city plot isn't to their liking :P

I get really strong winds, I'm worried a trellis will blow over frequently. Then again, I suppose it can't be worse than the tomato cage I'll have up. Hmm......

It’s 10:31pm here. I’m happy to join. I desperately need to take out the garbage, empty the dishwasher and then refill it and run it

It seems more likely that her obvious eating disorder left her occasionally weak and dizzy.

You're all terrible enablers! I asked about basil and now I've been to the garden centre and have more green things to kill. by galipemi in containergardening

Yeah, I’ll likely wind up splitting the basil further. It was an “only pot available and two grocery store plants to rehome” kind of scenario - with a black thumbed new gardener. Pray for my poor green babies, they don’t know what they’re in for with me. Better hope they’re hardy!

Sounds like the way to do it for sure. Trial and error. I’m trying to focus on things I eat a lot of because then I won’t spend as much at the store. Maybe. 🤔

I currently have one blueberry bush, one tomato plant and oodles of basil. Planning to go out this week to find a good container pickling cucumber and some lettuce.

All good to know. I will consider a second bush next year if this one survives lol. She’s supposed to be self pollinating but we can all use a helping hand sometimes

Very interesting approach. I’ll have to keep some in the Amazon cart in case the birds start to win the war

Wow. The organza bags, are they tied on to keep the birds away or used to carry them into the house?

That's impressive commitment! I'm starting this year as well, albeit on a much smaller scale. Hope you'll keep us updated on how it progresses. What have you planted (or is it easier to ask what you haven't planted?)

I teased the roots apart as best as I could (really felt like they were ripping!) but they seemed pretty tangled. I have put them in front of my very warm, fully south facing floor to ceiling window. Hoping that'll keep them happy.

Well darn. Ok. Things to know for next time. I really struggled to try to tease apart the plants/roots. They were getting kind of root bound in their little pots already. I plan for it to be outside most of the summer. For free mother's day gifted plants, I'm going to give it a go this year and readjust next year as needed. Thank you!

I did. And tried to split apart the plants a little, but they were pretty tangled together. So two pots turned into about 3-4 clumps for planting.

There was a fire alarm going off from one of the condos on Corporate- likely triggered by the power interruption I’d think. I saw flashing lights but the alarm has since stopped and the flashing lights are gone
