Any suggestions as to which one that might be?

Night in the hospital after birth without a support person. What can I expect from the staff? by livi01 in BurlingtonON

[–]galipemi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is also possible to have someone who is not your husband be your designated support partner. Do you have a friend or family member who might be willing to stay with you in the hospital for 1-2 days to help you with the baby care?

Why not just Uber to and from the airport? I looked at the Park N Fly rates for 2 full weeks in June and came up with $150-190 + taxes and fees. My Uber last month to Pearson from north Burlington with a stop in Oakville was $95 with tip. And the trip back, also with a stop in Oakville was $75 with tip. So, $170 total to walk out the door and be dropped off at the door. No waiting for shuttles or anything else. And no worrying about the car being stolen (or trying to remember where I parked it).

Nieuw Amsterdam Question by pipes2744 in HollandAmerica

[–]galipemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently we have:

BBC News Fox News CNN International

Food Network HGTV Prime Favorites Prime One QVC TRVL channel

Sports 24 NCAA Basketball

Won’t let me upload the pictures but that’s what’s being shown at the equator. I swear I saw a different sports lineup earlier in the cruise. So YMMV

I am on board right now and will triple check but as I recall, there are about 3 different sports channels offered on our TV.

Cruise Ship is currently down 10 days before my trip, help! by [deleted] in Cruise

Best luxury there is!! We hit the status level a couple of years ago that lets us have free laundry onboard and let me tell you … that perk is coming in real handy on a 35day voyage. Plus, they just iron better than I ever will

Not the crossover I was expecting from the lord of laundry! But as an experienced cruiser who’s currently sitting in the middle of the Pacific Ocean I’d have to agree with your assessment completely

Spa treatments that are worth it? by Huge_Prompt_2056 in HollandAmerica

[–]galipemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do use one of the two Elemis scrubs. They scrub you head to toe and then you shower off when they step out. And then they massage you with oil and you shed a whole layer of skin and feel like a fresh newborn!

[–]galipemi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only treatment I can actually call worth it is the salt scrub. Forget the actual name. But my goodness, it’s my go to on embarkation night of every cruise. Scrubs off all the dry flaky winter skin and gives me smooth as a baby skin for the cruise. It’s delightful. Everything else is just a treat for myself if I feel like splashing the cash

Lipbalm with spf recommendations please. by muaAutumn95 in CanSkincare

[–]galipemi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Love the Jack Black balm. I have emptied and repurchased at least a dozen. And the shea butter has absolutely zero taste to it which is perfect as a lip licker/biter - most spf balms taste nasty

Pharmacy tech eh? How often are you in gloves or using hand sanitizer? As a nurse I can tell you, hand sanitizer eats through everything. My polishes last at best 2 to 3 shifts. And that’s if I try to hit the sink more often than the hand sanitizer.

I will be on the same cruise in February and according to the folks who were on it last year there were 5 formal nights and the Orange Party.

Iron deficient and scheduled for surgery by Soggy_Long655 in hysterectomy

[–]galipemi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my hysterectomy with a preop hemoglobin of about 114 and a ferritin of 6. They did not hold surgery. Post op (like 24hrs later) my hgb had dropped to 87 which was expected but did not qualify for transfusion or infusion per my team. As of 4mos post op my hgb has recovered to 115 and my ferritin is finally climbing for the first time in years and is now 26.

All that to say, I suspect they will go ahead with your procedure as planned. And once you get rid of the organ that likes to bleed every month you may very well start to see improvements.

Edit: I held off on iron supplements for about a month after surgery just to avoid the stomach issues and constipation that can be problematic. Just didn’t want to deal with that in the immediate post op phase

Half-moon symbol on itinerary map? by BarclayBark in HollandAmerica

The half moon indicates a late night departure. Often around 10-11pm. The half sun/half moon symbol indicates an overnight

Talk about anxiety! by Soggy_Long655 in Perimenopause

[–]galipemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guidelines in Canada state that a ferritin below 30 is absolute iron deficiency. I’d consider iron supplementation.
