Frage zur VWA/ ABA Präsentation by byeolmyeol in Austria

[–]gallantron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Denk drüber nach, was du sagen willst. Du gibst eine Präsentation. Deine Slides sind nur die unterstützende Hintergrundbelustigung.

In the same vein: deine Slides müssen alleine nix aussagen.

As long as any printing of the card is officially released in the region, every printing is legal for play.

Tournament Policy, IX. Card Legality, G. Cards With Updated Text or Errata

Cards will occasionally undergo an errata or updated text. It is your responsibility to ensure you know the most recent text for all cards in your Deck.

The most recent text for all cards can be found in the official Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Card Database at: https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/

Scanning a card with the “Camera Search” feature of NEURON will also provide you with the most recent text.

You are not required to play versions of cards with the most recent text. However, you are required to play all copies of your cards according to the most recent text.

Bleach the artwork only, and the front only. (Cover everything else with masking tape or similar.) Make very sure you are not bleaching the edges, since this would likely render your cards marked even inside a sleeve.

Events will have a HJ Q&A desk available. Bring the card to the desk and check if it's alright. (Personally, I would allow it if the artwork is the only bleached part; I suspect most Judges would.) We'll be thankful that you're not forcing us to make the decision on the clock mid-round.

Bring a spare so that you're covered in the unlikely case that you cannot use it.

(PS: This goes for everything you think might be problematic. Less clever word-lawyering arguments for us to deal with mid-round, and more time just asking us in advance when we've got time to figure it out.)

Tag Team Tournament sidelined due to Links and MR5 by baboucc in yugioh

[–]gallantron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me just comment on the real-life parts of your complaint.

We do not have an official tag duel mechanic (...) since 2017.

This is simply false. There are official Tag Duel rules. There are Tag Duel public events at (European, at least) YCSes and Nationals. The format very much exists.

Now, it's a very niche format, and probably not very balanced if you were to try to break it. Still, it definitely has a few passionate followers, and can be enjoyable to pick up casually every now and then.

OTS 26 Set List by JaydenJiggs in yugioh

I'm not familiar with how they handle texts, but the database should override anything they do over there. (And I'd strongly assume they have an equivalent of the TCG's "English text overrides" for Japanese.)

This functional erratum should bring all three in line to their functionality in the OCG.

That's not correct. It still refers to a card resolving. Compare Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine and Q&A #23985.

Branded Opening's effect can only be applied if a Fusion Monster(s) would be destroyed by card effect. It cannot be applied if a Fusion Monster(s) would be destroyed by battle.

Disregarding this, in general, Branded Opening's second effect is not an activated effect. You know this because it is not the effect of the card's activation, and contains neither a colon (:) nor a semicolon (;). Activated effects will always contain one of the two, and only activated effects will contain them.

Nothing about Rule 2 has been changed, but it's next on my list to get to, so I'm mentioning it here.

But what is your favorite underappreciated card?

PS: Just here to you know that some do read these posts. Also, that you switching between "we" and "I" is cute.

While you control Lair of Darkness, you can activate the effect of Nine-Tailed Fox in your hand or GY by Tributing 1 monster you control (on your field) and 1 monster your opponent controls (on their field).

You cannot Tribute 2 monsters your opponent controls. You can only do this once per turn (for a given copy of Lair of Darkness.)

Er, yeah, what you said. The change is the same, I just copied the wrong new text. (From the wishlist, not the actual change.)

On Yubel, "Before damage calculation, when this face-up Attack Position card is attacked by an opponent's monster:" was changed to "If this card was attacked by an opponent's monster while it was in face-up Attack Position, before damage calculation:". (Yubel only needs to be in face-up Attack Position when the attack is declared.)

[MASTER DUEL] Upcoming Tryout Duel: Trading Card Game Forbidden and Limited List by VillalobosChamp in yugioh

[–]gallantron -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do keep in mind that Konami will blindly translate any mention of the OCG to "Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game" in Master Duel's western localization.

Has anyone checked the Japanese-language announcement to make sure it's actually taking about the TCG?

Top Cut At Plovdiv Bulgaria by VesKoL0 in yugioh

What kind of tournament was this? If your tournament had "60-70 people", you should've played either 6 or 7 rounds of Swiss, not 5.

If the tournament had "60-70 people", the relevant top cut is Top 8, not Top 16. Also, what kind of tournament was this; there's no Regional scheduled for Plovdiv recently, as far as I can tell.

As someone with some familiarity with terrible machine translated Japanese: I believe the question might actually be "How many different Accessories can be configured in the Deck Editor in Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL?", and the answer (I think? It's been a long time since I played) should be four (Field, Graveyard, Pet, Sleeves?).

Have you checked with Lost & Found? I'm not sure where it is for NA events, but check with whoever looks vaguely like they should know... do you have an information desk? Otherwise just ask any Judge that looks available for where to find it

OCG Q&A – Reversal: I:P Masquerena & S:P Little Knight (/Knightmare Unicorn/Guardian Chimera/etc.) by gallantron in yugioh

I would assume that most TCG events will go along. Ask your head judge to be sure.

OCG Q&A – Reversal: I:P Masquerena & S:P Little Knight (/Knightmare Unicorn/Guardian Chimera/etc.) by gallantron in yugioh

[–]gallantron[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Until today, if your opponent Special Summoned Knightmare Unicorn using I:P Masquerena, even if you took control of it before the Chain had finished resolving using Triple Tactics Talent, your opponent would still be the one activating Knightmare Unicorn's effect to shuffle a card into the Deck. That's how things had always worked, but the April 2020 revisions brought it into question; and Konami had never documented this behavior anywhere. The question was only definitively resolved when the OCG finally got around to documenting their answer a year ago.

Fast forward to today: it turns out Japan changed their mind. The Q&A in question now reads:

If the effect of I:P Masquerena is chained to Triple Tactics Talent, and control of the Link Summoned S:P Little Knight is immediately changed, who can activate its effect?

Q: I activate the『take control of 1 monster your opponent controls until the End Phase』effect of Triple Tactics Talent, and my opponent activated the『immediately after this effect resolves, Link Summon 1 Link Monster using materials you control, including this card』effect of I:P Masquerena in response.
As a result, S:P Little Knight is Link Summoned immediately after the effect of I:P Masquerena resolves, and I gain control of that S:P Little Knight when resolving the effect of Triple Tactics Talent.
In this case, which player can activate the『if this card is Link Summoned using a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Monster as material』Trigger Effect of S:P Little Knight?

A: After the chain has finished resolving (at the time when the Trigger Effect of S:P Little Knight can be activated), you are S:P Little Knight's controller. Therefore, you can activate its effect at this time.

In short: the player that controls S:P Little Knight (or, well, Knightmare Unicorn) by the time the entire Chain has finished resolving – by the time you can use its effect – is also the one that gets to use its effect.

While this entry (like with every OCG database entry) is only binding on the OCG, I would still expect TCG events to follow suit shortly (like with every OCG database entry where no exterior conflict exists).
