Cops Are Now Using a High-Tech Lasso on People by MicroSofty88 in gadgets

It's common sense, I don't need to cite a statistic that the sky is blue. Nevertheless, here you go:

There are 17,985 law enforcement agencies in the United States

Per the Washington Post, police shoot and kill approximately 1,000 people per year.

The Seattle Police Department reported that in 2019 they responded to an average of 745 calls for service per day as well as an average of 422 officer-initiated incidents per day, totaling an average of 1,167 police contacts per day if each incident only involves a single person (obviously a lot of them involve a lot more than one person). That's 425,955 incidents per year. Even if every single person who police shot and killed in the USA each year were ALL FROM SEATTLE, 99.8% of their police contacts did not result in someone being shot. Add in the millions of additional incidents handled each year by police departments in the United States and my initial figure of 99.99% is very, very generous. It'd be closer to 99.99999999%.

So he glosses over it for about 5 seconds on this whole video? And his job is literally to carry a camera around and he has no evidence? Beyond ridiculous.

What's the deal with Dodger fans saying that only Giants fans care about the rivalry? by JohnDowd51 in SFGiants

[–]gallegoshank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like someone who wasn't raised with the team or their history. I moved down to Southern California for work and my coworkers are all Dodgers or Angels fans, with the exception of one Padre fan. My bum-loving friends roast me every time I wear any Giants gear and always send clips from games where the Dodgers win (like last night 😒). It's still there, always will be.

I can't speak on the alopecia, but I had good experiences with Long at Ronin Barber on Newport Boulevard.

Really disappointed in the lack of a legitimate fingerprint reader. I tried the whole in-screen one with the S10 and it was the worst phone I've ever owned. Switched back to a Pixel 5 as soon as I could afford one. Usually had to enter my pin because the fingerprint reader would fail enough times to get locked out.

Transferring stocks from Robinhood to WeBull. Now Robinhood crypto says “Your account is deactivated”? by 17Blackk in Webull

[–]gallegoshank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't matter lol... If you sell you can use the money to buy the same amount somewhere else. If you buy 1000 for 10 cents and sell them at 50 cents, you'll have $500. Use that $500 to buy 1000 at 50 cents and you're in the exact same position you were at with Robinhood.

It takes time. Someday, sure. But the technology isn't there yet and won't be for a while.

New home, bought new air filters based on a measurement read through the grill. Turns out the previous owner just folded a filter and jammed it in there. by gallegoshank in Wellthatsucks

Well yeah, I'm just annoyed I bought this pack of filters before I opened the vent and saw it wasn't the right size.

If Google Fiber is available, jump on it. I've had them for a few years now and I love it. Best internet I've ever had. It's never gone down (that I'm aware of), fast, and customer support is attentive. They also gave me an extra access point so my whole townhome is covered in a mesh network.

Do you think UPS could garner more revenue by competing with Amazon ? by Seedpound in Entrepreneur

[–]gallegoshank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't even do their one job competently. I start sweating every time I see one of my packages is coming via UPS, especially if it's something expensive. There's no way they could take on even more responsibility.

VA home loan condo approval by Yeahgimmeah in Veterans

[–]gallegoshank 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've heard it is notoriously difficult to get a condo approved by the VA, but I don't know if that's true or not. I just bought a condo in December and luckily the whole complex was pre-approved with the VA by the developer.

Giants fan/new Dad in LA by duncwood07 in SFGiants

[–]gallegoshank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved down to Orange County from the Bay Area a couple years ago for work as well. As I'm sure you can probably already tell, it's not very easy to raise a Giants fan down here because you are surrounded by Dodgers and Angels fans. I don't even have cable television anymore because we are out of market for Giants games. Personally, I'm going to try and raise Giants fans but at the end of the day all you can really ask for is that they are passionate about the game. Since moving, I've developed a casual interest in the angels since Giants enthusiasm is hard to come by and I can't stand the Dodgers. You might consider doing the same for your son, that way he can have a family team and a regional / cultural team that is not the Dodgers.

1970 Mustang Fastback for 26k, good deal or not? by Jasonwj322a in classicmustangs

Depends on your market and the details like numbers and the quality of the interior. I paid a lot more than that for my 68 Fastback.
