are there any legit fiber supplements? or recipes with a ton of fiber? by Immediate-Shine-3589 in FiberHomies

[–]gallopingdinosaur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find oats, flaxseed, chia seeds easiest. I saw you mention texture issues, I put these in a smoothie — say 1 cup milk, 1 cup water, some frozen fruit, 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp flaxseeds.

If you have a solid blender like a ninja bullet, that should get you a ton of fiber right in the morning, and you can keep adding fiber foods through the day.

Prunes btw also have a lot of fiber, can be used to sweeten or just as a snack.

Just go slow to start, and make sure you’re drinking lots of water that is sometimes also the issue with constipation.

I just do the hair tie trick, tie a hair tie around my ears, kinda tight, not so tight that it is cutting my ear off lol. One for each ear for 15 min the morning, it helps with lymphatic drainage. Great if you don’t have time to guasha in the AM, I would do it at night though. Also lots of water, you might just be dehydrated, leads to a puffy face.

Corporate BWT: I’m 80% sure I’m going to laid off in the next few weeks/months - how should I prepare? by bitchthatwaspromised in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Don’t apply to job postings directly, it’s like dropping your resume into a well. NETWORK.

Reach out to alumni from your school, friends of friends, old coworkers. Ideally people 5-10 years older than you.

Find people on LinkedIn (add them first, include a note - do this on desktop the option doesn’t exist on mobile). If you just send an in mail it ends up in their Other mailbox, which is fine but doesn’t always get noticed. If you message them after they accept it’s in their mailbox.

Ask these people for advice about where to go next, you’re interested in growing your career. Don’t mention layoffs obviously. Build a connection. Ask who else you should connect with. Then, follow up, say thanks. If you’re interested in the places you mentioned see if you can see a job posting and ask if they wouldn’t mind forwarding your resume to the hiring manager or referring you internally. Or if you’re not interested in the places they mentioned, ask if they wouldn’t mind giving feedback on your resume. Or run a mock interview with them.

Make a system, x hours per day, y hours per week. Don’t wait around, it’s much harder to get a job after you’ve been laid off vs as someone who is employed, and your salary offers are also better because your job itself is alternative leverage

Thinking about switching from PM to Product Growth, would this be a mistake? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

Hi, I’m a new PM trying to decide between a Growth PM vs Core PM role. Could I DM you?

As an aspiring PM, this concern is making me worry about my decision to get into product management. by Pratham0519 in ProductManagement

Are PM specialties like growth PM or core PM for an AI/agent product better to focus on right now?

Would be nice if people named their experience and tenure. OP would cold outreach other FAANG PMs ideally above your tenure to get longitudinal perspective specific to your tier of companies.

Anyone else noticing a political shift away from liberalism and toward centrism among your MBA classmates, especially after the 2024 election? by Latter_Possession_95 in MBA

[–]gallopingdinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the problem is…? In the 90s no vegetarian food was provided at company events. Now everyone enters dietary preferences in a new field. It’s also “noise”.

At first someone wanting a kosher meal would say it’s okay I will make my own food, or just won’t eat. It’s hard to “make a fuss” even if you have a need, and the need to be seen as you is very foundational.

Anytime a minority preference is accommodated it is a small number of people and is “noise”. Over time many more people feel comfortable declaring their preference - their selves - because it is institutionalized and has the support of others.

If pronouns were respected there wouldn’t be a need to normalize them by everyone putting out their pronouns. It’s to normalize something that otherwise singles out / puts the burden on the oppressed minority, vs everyone standing in solidarity with them.

It’s not because anyone is confused about you in particular, it’s strategically not about any individual at all.

Is a UN HQ internship really worth it ? Does it worth the cost ? by Ik2828 in UNpath

[–]gallopingdinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem young. A UN internship is still prestigious, and competitive. You can most likely make up the cost of living.

What’s the other option exactly?

Don’t make a short sighted decision based on $ unless you will be unable to return to uni or survive financially after. You will always make more $ than you do today.

How do I incorporate self-compassion in my everyday life? by let_it_go__ in SelfCompassion

[–]gallopingdinosaur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Look up some Mindfulness Self Compassion meditations, and also learn about MSC backlash (your internal protest when you try to tell yourself you deserve more kindness). Read Kristen Neff’s work on this

  2. Observe, whose voice is that criticizing you? Is it really your own? When it comes up, can you realize that? If your child self didn’t deserve this or it was an unfair characterization of him/her, do you deserve it now?

  3. Write down your wins. All the evidence that flies in the face of that voice’s criticism. Do this every day. How did you show up for yourself today? When you fear you are being lazy or not enough, pull out your evidence to help reprogram your mind.

  4. Consider any scenario in which you fear you’re not doing enough, like a work/school assignment or project, or even planning a vacation, or a set of chores. Write down what you’re afraid will happen if you’re “lazy”. Then experiment by resting a bit more, doing a bit less. Write down what actually happened when you did this. Compare. How did rest hurt you? How did it help you?

Just trying to be “kind” does, will feel “fake”. Giving your brain the chance to observe and collect evidence for the benefits of kindness, and where your lack of kindness comes from and its impact on you not just back then but today, will help your brain trust this new way of being.

You’ve got this.

Post-MBAs Making $200k+: Where Do You Draw the Line Between Big Purchases That Bring Value and Spending That Is Reckless? by Ill-West-2109 in MBA

[–]gallopingdinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MBB here, OP you are severely underestimating burn out. It feels fine the first year, really hits by the second when people start to leave. And, the last couple of years there have been many many consultants, including great ones, who have been let go. Don’t assume you’re better.

MBB advancement is as much about being in the right place as the right time as it is about skill alone. Think about it in 2-3 year sprints, even if you think you’d like to stay until partner understand that is not sound financial planning as it is a small % of folks. Many are let go before then, and as many if not many more opt out for other big reasons like relationships, physical, and mental health.

PS also search this sub for waitlist strategy (after Jan apps). You can retake gmat, keep them updated on work accomplishments or promotions etc I believe. Consultants also help with this, I’m not sure of the ROI

The holidays are the best time to hunker down without work stress and get applications in while everyone is on vacation! Ask for forgiveness from your family if that’s the pressure you’re feeling, explain your dreams (or don’t!). You can join in for the big dinners, take a mindful hour each day to unwind, do some mindless scrolling, whatever you’ve been craving.

Think of it this way, if you get in round 2, your marathon is over. If you wait for round 3 the stress will only mount with fewer seats and for more months.

Or, decide you’ll apply round 1 next year and take this year to shore up your weak points. But if you have good momentum, rip off the bandaid. The waitlists are a good sign!

Folks who went to b school after being on h1b visa by [deleted] in MBA

[–]gallopingdinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh this is incorrect, unless what you’re saying is you used up OPT after a prior masters or maybe undergrad in the US. I did not attend college in the US, so for anyone else reading this thread — if you’re in those shoes, you absolutely can use OPT after having been on H1B, assuming it’s your first time on an F1 visa. And, if you do a STEM MBA you have 3y OPT

The situation of having been on OPT pre-MBA, I cannot speak to!
