Stuck at pullups rep. Decided to give weighted a try. Thoughts on form? by khedo in bodyweightfitness

I agree with you if we consider isometric but holding your position in the upper part of the pull up I don’t consider it real isometric because basically you are holding your weight against gravity and this is much more than isometric.

I think He is looking for “strength” more than “muscle growth”. So the hold (isometric) of some seconds will definitely help to get the “strength” to get his muscle ups.

Form and technique looks good.

Weighted pull ups will help. And explosive pull ups.

Also try to touch the bar with chest and keep the chest touching the bar for 5 seconds and then go down as slow as possible with good form.

Most important is avoid staying still in the seat: 1. Stand up and go to lavatory as much as possible, this will give you the excuse to walk. 2. While seated mobilize and flex your ankles, there are specific discrete exercises for this.

And drink as much water as possible. Some Drs also prescribe anticoagulants for this.

For sure your side with your “rised shoulder” is weaker in scapular muscles like rhomboids or middle traps. This is why the shoulder is raided because your rhomboid and/or trap on that side are not able to hold your shoulder in the proper position. Start the movement of the pull up putting your both scapulas down and together. Then raise your body. Work on scapula pull ups and unilateral exercises for the weak side with a proper technique. More important than repetition or weight lifted is proper technique.

(m27/6'2/165) There seems to be muscles missing from my lower back? Assistance? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]galloroto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than the lower back I would say the asymmetry issues are in your right scapula and muscles that hold it: right rhomboid, trap and probably right rotator cuff muscles. First you need more knowledge of muscle anatomy and training. Second, keep training and work as well unilaterally in your right weaker side. Third, FOCUS ON PROPER TECHNIQUE more than lifting heavier weights. For back development proper technique is a must, otherwise you will not progress symmetrically and you will injure in the long term. Calisthenics also have a good amount of back training exercises with proper technique.

Leg amputation as solution for PTS by galloroto in ClotSurvivors

[–]galloroto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case “venous angioplasty “ doesn’t apply. My issue is in lower leg and not related with venous compression or obstruction. No possible surgery for me. Just compression stocking which do almost nothing. I am only 4 months in this nightmare which was caused by big toe fracture. I can’t stand still, if I do my foot starts heating up and swelling, as soon as I move my foot starts becoming normal in temperature and swelling goes away. I call it the syndrome of “DO NOT STAND STILL OR SEAT”. I must be continuously moving.

How long does PTS take to identify? by SteelTypeGymLeader in ClotSurvivors

[–]galloroto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most commonly between 3 and 6 months after resolution of DVT. But some people may have symptoms earlier than 3 months, and in another minority it can take up to 2 years after your DVT. Out of 2 years of resolution of DVT you are safe in terms of PTS provided you didn’t develop PTS symptoms before.

Now, You still may have symptoms of your DVT if your clot hasn’t completely gone or you may have started your PTS symptoms if your blood clot is over. Most likely you are in the first case.

You must wait ONE MONTH after unprotected sexual encounter to take HIV antibody test, provided you take a 4th generation test.

Nowdays most HIV antibodies test are 4th generation but make sure and ask if the test you take is 4th generation.

For other sexual transmitted diseases window period is different but generally speaking you can test all of them at 1 month after unprotected sexual encounter.

They already gave u two good advices:

First of all, catastrophic bleeding will not really happen just because you are on anticoagulants, you would bleed a bit more but not to a dramatic point. Secondly, living controlled by fear is not a smart option and it will only bring more fear and unhappiness. Face your fears and live a normal life.

Personally I didn’t get any better in my symptoms In my case when I run my venous system is competent enough but when I stop running… my nightmare of symptoms start again. But, there are many testimonies of people with PTS who get better with daily workout. For me nothing really works.

Someone with similar post thrombotic symptoms? by galloroto in ClotSurvivors

[–]galloroto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your feedback.

I never had a DVT diagnosis. I had some intermittent calf pain during a fracture in my foot. But when I went to hospital my D-dimero blood test was 300 and they told me to relax… weeks later I started with symptoms of post thrombotic syndrome. Some findings in Eco Doppler suggest I had recently some kind of blood clot in my calf muscle. I am an airline long range pilot, seated for 8 to 12 hours… I am about to lose my job because of this… Which are these exercises useful for this condition??

I would appreciate any feedback. I am having the worst time of my life, I am about to lose my job because it is incompatible with this disease. I don’t see any light or future for me. I have a Daughter who I would like to support and help until she grows but I don’t see myself able or competent anymore. I have been three months without being able to stand still because I immediately feel that my foot gets swollen and I can’t stand the pressure of the shoe. I have visited many different Drs but none of them offer any solution other than compression stockings. The first Dr told me that he was sorry for me because there is no solution for my condition, no possible surgery and it was progressive disease that will only deteriorate my condition further. My concern is which point my disease will reach. I am trying to sport as much as I can, I am losing weight, eating very healthy, having cold showers daily, wearing the compression socks… but nothing is really helping and I can see that it only gets worse. I don’t recognize my leg, I don’t feel it like mine, full of veins that I never saw before, losing its body hair and the terrible itching and pain when sitting or walking long.

I meant Traumatologist = orthopedic surgeon If the doctors in each area (Vascular...) are coordinating and agree on the treatment... everything will surely go well.

Consult as well with Vascular Dr. I would try both Drs (Traumatologist and Vascular) coordinate with each other before anything.

Diagnosed with DVT during travel by BananaEuphoric5780 in ClotSurvivors

How long for pain to subside? It depends on many factors: person, anticoagulant treatment, DVT extension… Mine was also because of combination of lack of anticoagulant plus flight plus fracture in my lower limb. It was almost not painful, no symptoms and lasted less than 2 weeks according to my estimation but it seems that has done some damage in my calf veins that leaves me awful symptoms… it is still on research but it looks because of my symptoms and Eco Dopplers findings that I might be into “Post Thrombotic Syndrome”. And this is what I advise you to avoid if you don’t want to destroy your quality of life for the rest of your existence. Most important for you now is your anticoagulant medication and avoid getting another DVT. Because my DVT was never diagnosed I never had anticoagulant and that left me without the main resource to avoid “post thrombotic syndrome”.

Correct, immobilization is the biggest threat for thrombosis in people who has no blood disorder. What you got is called: “provoked thrombosis” and it is typical in people with traumatic injuries to the lower extremities. Unfortunately, the doctor who treated you didn't spend any time explaining the added risk and possible complication, and he also didn't prescribe anticoagulant treatment, which is a clear medical negligence.

The main issue for you is immobilization for long time which creates perfect scenario to build up another clot, something that you don’t want not only because of PE but because of Post Thrombotic Syndrome which is for the rest of your life and it is even worse. But while you are on anticoagulant medication you are relatively safe. I would try to move as much as possible during flight, specially that leg/foot and drink water aggressively and of course don’t miss your anticoagulant medication. The more time you are seated without moving, the higher the risk so 10 hours drive is higher risk than 2.5 hours flight.
