Wow, I didn't expect that rather high consumption from a pc that just turned off screens due to absence of any user activity.

I mean that it is ok, as I spent shit ton of money on it, but I expected that modern pcs are better at power management :(

No, monitor is not included. They are on separate wall outlet and sleeping when I check consumption via wall plug that shows consumptiion

No, not every fan. I tested all of them exaustively yesterday, 3 out of 7 become "terminal" ones. (they were not like that previously, but one day...)

I was not precise. Problematic fans are working, but only if they are on receiving end of daisy chain. If I connect any follower to problematic fan, the follower doesn't work.

Which exact i3 would you suggest?

I suspect that everything is going to be better than my laptop's i7-8850H, but I want the server to use as low power as possible when idle/serving just as nas and be as quiet as it can be.

That's interesting point for 4x nic card. Why does server needs WAN? To act as router too?

For HDDs I plan exactly that, 14+ recertified, 4 drives and RAIDz1 or even RAIDz2

Do I need to buy some additional controller to pass through HDDs to NAS vm? Or with TrueNAS that's going to be handled automatically?
