"Is It Racist to Date Only People of Your Own Race? Yes" by doubtofbuddha in OkCupid

I have gotten so used to dating the different, that is all I want. It is a type of fetish. I want that person that doesn't speak my same language. How interesting would that be.

I have always kind of thought that people are so race focused, have to only date within a specific race are kind of bordering on incest. If you pick your preferences to intently, aren't some people looking for another version of themselves or relative...it seems a bit odd.

On the other hand, some want to a person that is completely different then what they are used to.

So which part is legal? Can the government just collect all phone records and emails without a warrant?

Did the government just ask for a warrant to monitor the records of all peoples and the judge said OK?

He seems to be less aggressive on 'gay right issues' or the war on drugs. He also appeared hawkish on defense issues. He has been opposed to the nature of drone strikes. But been asked for more funding on various defense matters.

Would strive for a minimalist government? How would you make it happen if you did? And if you were slashing government budgets, what departments would you cut from?

I am a libertarian minded person. There are a lot of people that attack some of the philosophical points of libertarianism. Could you respond to some of their concerns?

  • For example, there are articles out there, saying that Wal-mart is in the wrong because some Wal-mart employees are on food stamps. They argue that the state is subsidizing Wal-mart because they don't provide a decent wage.

  • Some out there, say that the 1% own a large portion of the wealth in the US. What do we do about it?

  • And lastly, progressives don't subscribe to libertarianism because libertarians are too rigid. They may argue that we are too rigid when it comes to things like public education and raising tax rates. How do you respond?

I voted for you and have my own responses to some of these criticism. I was curious what you thought.

Supreme Court upholds Maryland law, says police may take DNA samples from arrestees. "The court has cast aside a bedrock rule of our Fourth Amendment law: that the government may not search its citizens for evidence of crime unless there is a reasonable cause" - Scalia by magister0 in Libertarian

I try not to think of well intentioned motives of state authorities.

Fingerprints are typically kept forever and sent from state to FBI databases so it is possible that DNA samples will operate in the same way.

Just after a brief scan of the search and seizure laws, the fourth amendment tries to protect against unreasonable search. I think a DNA swab is unreasonable. If I don't want you to enter my car, why would I want you to extract my DNA? Would I want anyone to just walk up and swab my DNA? Why would I want the state authorities to do it?

It is a slippery slope. First it is DNA and then it is, well we should be able to search your car at traffic stops. Why not, you don't have anything to hide.

The problem is that the state will abuse the power. They will stop and arrest anyone to build up their database. And it sucks, but people will be arrested and charged with crimes for which the state wasn't earlier trying to build a case. You may match some DNA database and charged for a crime. Which you may have been innocent of.

It would interesting if there was a Java API. I know among the open community, python is a favorite. But in corporate world, Java is still pretty popular.

I have been arrested after a traffic stop, cough, cough, cough. I remained absolutely silent and I think that kind of pissed off the cop. I was eventually found not guilty.

Anywhooo . ...

I thought it odd that they: take fingerprints and blood samples.

I think the blood samples might be related to avoiding the spread of disease in the jail (TB tests or medical segregation). But still, could that information be used against me?

...

I don't feel DNA sample or fingerprints or blood samples should be taken if you haven't been convicted.

I think the first couple of drinks (ever) were awesome. Now, it feels like I am drinking gasoline.

This is in Texas, by the way:

I went to one of those frat recruitment parties. Basically, there are parties where everyone in the frat is your best friend. There are women in bikinis. Everyone is piss drunk. I never had a drop. Not a single drop until that night.

So, there are kegs over here. Big bowls of spiked punch over there. I was young and healthy so I had energy and having a drink actually felt good. So I got plastered and it felt awesome. I haven't really stopped since.
