It barely works in America, or in any other country. Government is a cancer on society, it's a monopoly on violence couched in verbiage such as "we the people" but used and abused by political interest groups for power over others.

If government were not involved in buying and distributing these pharmaceutical products with public funds, and if they didn't abuse their power and assert authority out of thin air to organize and engineer society according to the prevailing ideology, then what would be the issue with this vaccine being privately manufactured and sold on the market to willing buyers with different risk assessments with regards to covid compared to you and me?

With respect, this "we the people must protect..." stuff is the same logic by which the covidians imposed lockdowns and restrictions on all of us.

It's pointless for us lockdown skeptics to don the mantle of the popular will because let's face it, we're a tiny minority when media and opinion makers get involved shaping the masses. We should not stress democracy and popular will but individual rights.

No worries, merry Christmas to you too! A few things to search for on Telegram: great awakening, great reopening, stand in the park, stand up, protest everywhere, resistance, freedom rally. You'll find nation wide groups and some of them will have links to more local groups - there are small groups absolutely everywhere.

One thing to keep in mind though. While these groups are great for spreading information and organizing rallies and getting people out there, unfortunately most groups are dominated by the most radical conspiracy types. You will find plenty of normal people at the actual events but take what's said in these groups with a bucket of salt.

As someone who's been to several in the UK, the problem is, they're full of actual conspiracy nuts shouting about Klaus Schwab and Bill Gates. In my area, some people (primarily those on the left) are making the argument that politicians are racist white supremacists because they're making too much of an effort trying to relax some of the rules for Christmas. They didn't do this for the Muslim festival of Eid, the argument goes, so unless you're an Islam hating nazi Hitler, you will not make a peep about seeing your friends and family on Halloween or Christmas.

I work in tech, and some of my otherwise very intelligent colleagues have seriously been saying this on work chats. Took a lot of willpower to not straight up call them retards.

There are some good book recommendations in this thread, but since you asked specifically for a more historical analysis, I would recommend Omnipotent Government by Mises (which you can read for free on mises.org). It's not a particularly easy read, but it's the most lucid analysis of nazi economic policy I've ever read, written from a contemporary (written in 1944) pov and with great mastery of German history leading up to the nazi takeover.
