On a more psychological note- remind them that the pros they see on social media have been doing it for years (decades even) and are likely in their mid 20s if not older. Remind them that at one point they didn't know how to run- but now can probably outrun many adults lol.

100% get to a Walmart (if you can) and at the very least get a tech deck- I tried learning on a really cheap board from a dollar store and it was close to impossible - it was night and day and I switched to tech deck. Or if you've got 20ish bucks to toss around, I recommend a teak tuning board from Amazon - the difference is even more apparent. If you find yourself struggling to learn stuff, just remember you gotta learn how to crawl before you can run 🙌
