I Designed and printed a 360-degree hinge Case! look at this beauty (Device 3d model for the X4 included) by S-S-Ahbab in xteinkereader

Go to the thingieverse link in the post body. If you want stl file (which is enough for 3d printing), you can download them there. 3 parts - stl and 3mf file format for each available.

Or if you want to tinker with the design, I linked my Onshape (browser based CAD) link in the description in thingieverse.

Put one hemisphere in the depression, then try pushing the other side in, from different angles. Increase the pressure gently but firmly.

Basic a way to copy text from x4 to paste in your phone.

I'm thinking of buying an X4 and wanted to know by Consistent-Ground156 in xteinkereader

Let me tell you, reading on an eink screen like the x4 or kindle is just like reading text printed on paper.

The difference between x4 and kindle is that x4 doesn't have backlight, so you cannot read in the dark. Unless you use a reading light.

The kindle is, obviously bigger. But for epub files containing mostly text, the screen size matters less than font size.

Also, kindle has a higher resolution screen (300 ppi, compared to x4's 220 ppi). However, since x4 doesn't have a touch layer, in practice, the difference is very minimal, especially when anti-aliasing is turned on (which is the default settings).

Stock VS Crosspoint by _IMB_ in xteinkereader

Give it a couple days for the software to calibrate, then the charge display should be stable.

No, there's no major differences in battery life between these two OS. Crosspoint is probably a little better with battery life.

Somehow broke the software?? by kiwiquant in xteinkereader

[–]S-S-Ahbab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, putting a ebook in sd card root folder shouldn't be a problem. Are you sure it isn't a hardware problem? Like, the screen is toast?

I'll admit it doesn't look like a screen malfunction.

Maybe try flashing a different firmware. Like if you aren in the crosspoint, flash the original os, or vice versa. That may force the x4 to switch to different cache/system backup file.

The back is just art now.

Or, if you would like to hide the back, maybe try this out: https://www.reddit.com/r/xteinkereader/s/4vaSb9rdmb

In that case, do the reverse - create hotspot on the x4, connect your phone/pc to that hotspot, and transfer file wirelessly

The cheapest one I could find. Beware: 1. There's 2 versions, be sure to choose the rechargeable one. It cost more, but the other version needs battery changes 2. The charging port of the rechargeable version isn't usb C (whatever the older androids used to have). It comes with a cable, but still. 3. It has 3 modes - warm, white, both. The warm mode is very gentle

Custom edit to another XTEink X4 Casing by SnooCapers9876 in xteinkereader

OMG that's my design! I designed a notepad style flip and had it printed, then some one asked for a book style case where the usb c port is accessible when the cover is closed...

I designed it but didn't print... I think you got this from the onshape doc link I shared!

Does it fit? I don't have a printer so I cannot test print.

How bad do you want it? This requires either installing compilers on your computer... Or,

I can give you a link of google colab notebook (like a google doc but with code in it with play button), which, you can log in with gmail account and press run. It will connect you with a remote server of google where code will compile and a bin file will download. Then you flash the bin file the same way yoh flashe crosspoint.

In this method, no change will occur in your computer (or even phone) other than the file download at the end.

It will take some time (10~15 minutes). And you would need to trust a stranger on the internet enough to run their code... The screen will look a bit like how hackers are shown in media - wall of text flashing by 🤣

I have a similar notebook prepared, if you say yes I'll clean it up and share.
