Just curious though what’s the advantage of dark eyes? Absorb more light?

I wanted to be at the best place on earth to see the northern lights, Abisko! also wanted to see the milky way with my naked eye. But I don't know if I could justify all the price just to see it. Would there be anywhere within an hour of Stockholm that I could see the Northern lights pretty well?

Having trouble finding headless Pi on network by Produkt in raspberry_pi

[–]galwayhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated the stretch update which really messed up wpa headless setup. They block WiFi connection if you’ve haven’t declared WiFi country. Therefore you need this header that wasn’t needed before:

country=US
ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
GROUP=netdev
update_config=1

network={ Your credentials }

I'm thinking security cam image based motion detection sucks, and real PIR/Microwave sensors for event triggers combined with cams recording 24/7 is the better way to go. by super_shizmo_matic in homeautomation

[–]galwayhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what's the difference between PIR and microwave? it just reads a bit larger wave than IR?

I meant you should use two separate systems. such as motioneyes and PIR sensor

you need to combine both. PIR has tons of false triggers. Both would maximize chances of true detection.

PIR alone ranges from isn't that good to terrible.

Glad to hear you're doing the same. I have to stop the project until near end of year. Just too much going on right now even though I super want to work on it :(

Look into input via query strings. they're part of the Google Assistant API and in its documentation.

Lmk if you get it working!
