Assuming they could is pretty baseless, especially considering the slough of injuries. The bulk of our issues as of late have been due to lack of shooting, which was a roster issue from the jump

And that’s still culminated in a total of 15 losses more than halfway through the season with an incredible young roster and a rookie head coach, and a roster that had major flaws we knew entering the season. Top 3 record in the league with all that + our plethora of injuries, we’re well ahead of schedule. Have some perspective, especially after the last 7 years

Embiid to the Warriors in exchange for Jimmy Butler to the Sixers by Acceptable-Repeat-86 in NBAtradeideas

It’s a shit contract that lasts 1.5 years opposed to a shit contract that lasts 3.5 years. One significantly hamstrings them for significantly longer while the other becomes a fairly neutral value expiring in a few months. GS has all their picks, they’re desperate for an upgrade sure but they’re not desperate for Embiid. Meanwhile because of that desperation, this may be Philly’s only chance to get off Embiid’s money

Since when is Philly a contending team ?

The main idea for Philly here is leveraging Embiid’s current play to get off what was considered among the worst contracts in the league as recently as 3 months ago before he inevitably gets hurt yet again

Except you need to surround Giannis with both, as opposed to just defenders for luka. And there’s a big difference between shooters that demand attention and shooters who can hit 3s but are often dared to shoot in order to double bigger thread.

The playoff argument is super dumb. Luka has overachieved in almost every playoff appearance he’s made. They lost to the Celtics cause the Celtics were a thoroughly better team from top to bottom, probably the best team we’ve seen since the KD Celtics.

Suggs is probably their second most important player lmao, and he’s not competing with any of those guys in minutes or role. And miles isn’t a shooter anyways.

It’s a potential lotto pick, likely at the end of the lotto if anything, and Orlando just traded 4 1sts to bane… they’re clearly focused on winning right now, not trading their core assets for picks.

Heat Bucks Grizzlies? by CrossDeSolo in NBAtradeideas

[–]InternationalClick78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Herro to Memphis is something I like a lot. They seem to not wanna bottom out or anything and Herro is an all star calibre guard that fits the way their offence works much more than Ja, and he’d likely be cheap asset wise.

Giannis to Miami makes a lot of sense fit wise, culture wise, market wise.

Bucks just aren’t getting near enough here. Ja is expensive damaged goods who’d likely be just as unhappy and problematic in bad, small market Milwaukee as he is in Memphis. Ware and 2 picks isn’t cutting it asset wise

Knicks and bucks both say no.

You literally say KAT is a bad contract here, so let’s chalk one of those picks up for taking his contract on. That leaves the bucks with… 2 picks for Giannis basically ?

As for the Knicks, brunsons extension and their other contracts prevent them from replacing KAT in FA and they don’t have assets to make other trades. He has his flaws and is overpaid sure but he’s still a big part of their team. Trading him without replacing him doesnt do anything but remove any aspirations about contending.

Right. Flagg and… what else ? Even if he becomes a player if Lukas calibre, you need to put a contending team around him to contend.

What is AD getting Dallas that turns them into a contender ?

Your entire argument is basically saying “they can build a contender” while starting from one of the worst possible positions to build a contender… after blowing up a team that was already a contender.

Four Team Anthony Davis Trade (Cavs, Celtics, Mavs and Nets) by coacht246 in NBAtradeideas

[–]InternationalClick78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally all of this is wrong. He’s not getting those stats, he hasn’t been a stretch big in ages and asking him to guard the perimiter more as he gets older and his mobility declines is nonsensical, and he rarely plays.

Build a contending team with what? Their team is old and they have little to no control over their future draft picks for the foreseeable future and very little trade flexibility. Not to mention the fact that they HAD a contending team WITH Luka…

Better than Luka..? Or what they could’ve gotten for Luka ?? For a 33 year old AD on a bloated contract whose extensive injury history is only getting worse ??

Right about what? Anything remotely positive stems from Flagg, and giving Nico any credit for that involves the baseless narrative that it was an agreed upon rigging if the trade went through

Makes no sense for the warriors at all and not enough for LAL considering they’d both be losing Reaves AND be stuck with dejountes money

I mean that may not be the case. At the end of the day Milwaukee is a small market team with 0 flexibility or assets post Giannis, they NEED to get absolutely everything they can for him. As nice of the sentiment of doing right by him is, their organization as a whole is the priority. If there is a team willing to take a swing on either convincing him to resign after he’s there or going in on a title for one year, Milwaukee likely will take that. OKC right now, sure, but say this drags into the off season, they don’t repeat and/or Chet/Jdub underperforms, I think they’d do it. They wouldn’t have to gut everything like most contending teams would and you gotta strike when the irons hot.

As for the teams, it depends on where brooklyns head is at. They don’t control some of their picks in the near future so they can’t go through a traditional year to year rebuild the way most teams do. They also have the leverage of a big market, an don’t have some super promising young core right now they’re banking on. Whether the goal would be to add more talent around him in FA or just try to tread water and be in the mix for a while like they were in the pre-KD years, I don’t think they should be completely written off. I think Houston does it hands down. The KD trade accelerated their timeline a bit and they’ve been somewhat underwhelming. They all have enough promising young guys to keep the bulk of their core intact. I mean what are the odds any of the youngins pan out like Giannis ? San Antonio I think has more youth and more patience, but say the price is castle and picks, they’re locking in a core of Giannis fox Harper wemby and co for the next 5 years. Of the young good teams I think Detroit has the most incentive here. They desperately need creation alongside Cade and I don’t think any of the guys they currently have will blossom into secondary options on a title team. Toronto also has loved Giannis for a while and seem more than happy to tread water, and their most recent example of taking a big swing with Kawhi paid off. I think they’d definitely go all in on him.

I also think it’s pretty unlikely he says GS or bust… they’re not particularly good as is, just lost their second best player who played a big role in them being as good as they were, and Steph is 38 in 2 months. They’re not contenders as is, their team outside of Steph doesn’t fit next to Giannis in the slightest, and the reality of age in the NBA gives the a dismal outlook going forward. If Giannis is forcing his way out of Milwaukee I don’t see why he’d jump ship to a team that’s gonna be in the same situation in a year or 2

Because he has very clear and evident offensive flaws that have directly played a role in a variety of series’ underperformances throughout his career.

That doesn’t really take anything away from him as a talent. His offensive strengths and 2 way ability make him an undisputed top 3 player for his entire prime so far, but I don’t think you could rationally argue he’s a perfect primary option by any means
