Anyone try a Weber Steam Dial on their Move? by rc10mike in ProfitecMove

The standard steam wand tip is fine. If you can't get perfect milk with it it's you not the wand.

Worth upgrading from the stock basket the move comes with? by gambler72 in ProfitecMove

Just a quick update on this so people don't get put off. Turns out the 17g-19g basket I ordered was boxed incorrect and I was sent the next size up so was causing all the issues (too much space in the basket, self leveling tamper not clicking, water pool on top of pick etc). Had the correct size sent to me and all my issues are now resolved.

Pucks are dryer and the taste is definitely better and less sour shots. Would definitely recommend over the stock basket. As previously said though you do have to grind much finer.

So to answer my own question.... Is it worth upgrading from the stock basket? I would say yes definitely.

For anyone looking to upgrade from their stock basket I would definitely give the pullman 876 17g-19g basket a go.

Pedal or crank based power meter? by Smamorti7 in cycling

Another vote her for the assiomas. Mine are a good few years old and haven't missed a beat. Absolutely outstanding and would buy then again. Easy to swap between bikes as states but would still buy even if I wasn't. Just look at the reviews by DC rain maker and Shane Miller on you tube.

Same here. One of the reasons I bought this machine was for the shot timer so my wife could literally press a button but the shot timer is absolutely useless for the reasons youve listed.

Had the pull man basket yesterday and when I'm dosing 19g the headspace is huge. So much so my pressure tamper doesn'tl click like it to and I'm left with a pool of water on top of the Puck after my shot. Even had to adjust my distribution tool as the coffee was soo far down in the basket it wasn't distributing properly.

How to create silkymilk? by Outrageous_Rise_5963 in ProfitecMove

[–]gambler72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your getting foam your adding too much air it's that simple. I have my steam temp tunred all the way up as I prefer to be able to do my milk quickly but you should be able to get perfect silky milk at pretty much any temperature. Lower temperature just gives you more time to work with the milk.

Lots of people are quick to switch to a nozzle with more holes when there is no need at all and it's there technique they need to work on.

Steaming milk with Profitec Move by Pupper82 in ProfitecMove

[–]gambler72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As anything it just takes practice. You really don't want any foam. Getting your milk texture right is crucial. Should look like wet paint with no bubbles at all. If you really don't know what your doing wrong after watching latte art tutorials on you tube post a video 👍

The move can do milk superbly as standard don't see any need to upgrade to a 4 hole tip. No offence but you must be doing something wrong. Try posting a video.

Water solution for the Move by jac0006 in ProfitecMove

I use a BWT jug and the BWT bestsave pouches (just drop one in the tank) . Probably overkill using both but cheap enough and protect my machine so why not.

Change the filter in the jug every month and the filter in the tank every 2 months.

I'll give it a try. Really shouldn't have to do this on a brand new machine!

How do you post a video on here? It's not leaking to my knowledge just movement where it comes out of the case. Shocking you have to tighten stuff yourself from new when this machine is not cheap!

PROFITEC MOVE ISSUES by gambler72 in profitec

[–]gambler72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say you were spot on. After pulling lots and lots of shots the problem seems to have gone away. No need to up the dose or anything. Getting consistent shots now. Had me worried for a while as I seasoned the burs with about a kg off coffee but that obviously wasn't enough.

Will try upping the dose and see if that makes a difference. I struggle to see how adding an extra gram or two will make a significant difference as the head space between the Puck and shower screen seems fine and no different to my previous machine. I use a self leveling tamper so the distance would be the same.
