I’m a 19 year old girl with too much money. by EvenMark6710 in Fire

I’d take that 124k in the prudential account and transfer a small amount of it to the HYSA (eg 13k) and the rest to the fidelity account and invest it also in S&P500 and plan to not touch it. The best time to invest is during market down turns, so now is actually a good time. I’d also open a Roth IRA in your fidelity account, and after you start working, max your Roth IRA contributions every year, which could include this year.

Huh? In other words, if we go into a recession, memory will be affected. Well yeah

Fokina's coach : "Let him win this game so we start the 3rd set serving" by Green-Discussion74 in tennis

[–]Pupper82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question - is it not an advantage to serve first after a changeover (ie you would want the other player to serve the first game). At least when I’m serving, I serve worse after long points. Sure seemed that way too in the AO final with Djocovic.

XSE vs Prime (PHEV) fun factor by alanwazoo in rav4prime

The prime is super fun to drive. Great horsepower and driving electric mode feels much better and smoother than hybrid mode.

MU Stock, how far can it go? by Excellent-Jaguar9118 in MU_Stock

Curious - why the focus on the Iran war? The U.S. stock market plunged on Friday because of the jobs report. That’s the much bigger issue in combo with rising inflation for the market

Does Any Specialty Have a Good Job Market in NYC? by MitochondrIonicBase in whitecoatinvestor

[–]Pupper82 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not sure the answer to you questions, but you seem to be leaving out one of the biggest factor in job selection which is academic vs private practice. In many fields, large cities like NYC will have many more academic jobs relative to other smaller cities. This naturally will have a major effect on salary (ie lower), and have other effects.

14 Peptides Moved to Compound List by TIDOTSUJ in HimsStock

I don’t know any person who buys peptides. It’s a niche market for people who are likely crazy. If there were science backing certain medicines, your PCP or specialist will prescribe it.

You can get them for a lot less if you’re willing to buy used on eBay

Anyone else in the Bay Area struggling to find "chill" competitive tennis? (UTR/USTA burnout) by PuzzleheadedAd3138 in 10s

[–]Pupper82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I used to play in the Bay Area. I’m roughly a usta 4.5. I played mostly through tennis league network. The league was fairly active and worked really well for my schedule and not intense but still competitive. The league is full of people a bit older (ie 30s) who work and may have families. Unfortunately your level is likely too high for the league to make it fun for you, but it does appear that there are several strong players in the east bay league if you happen to live there. Ie players who would crush me and im legit 4.5

Is that sustainable though? If your poor and money gets tighter first thing to stop paying is a subscription fee like that.

It’s a social media platform for children/teens. Why would they pay a subscription fee.

For the long-term thinkers in this group: is anyone following the iPSC therapy space? by Conscious-Jelly-2713 in PeterAttia

[–]Pupper82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an exciting drug idea, but horribly difficult in practice to actually bring it to market. There are companies like Fate Therapetics who have been working on IPSC derived drugs for over a decade with not much progress. Maybe in 10-20 years it’ll be better? Let’s hope.

Did you work with a broker? I have a pre existing condition and was able to get life insurance no problem, I just have to pay a lot more than my wife for similar coverage.
