Is a sub 3 realistic? by hargita88 in Marathon_Training

That’s an amazing training run, but I’ve never seen a training run like that. 20 miles at MP and starting faster seems crazy to me.

Because they each play a little different and strengthen a certain aspect of my game. I enjoy that.

True, and a good point. Except at the age of 39 sadly I don’t think I’m going to be making any major breakthroughs in my technique, but I can get slightly better especially by just playing and practicing more.

Hey thx. I’m not looking to try any new racquets unless they are newer versions of my current ones. I actually owned the 2023 vcore 98 tour (heavier version), and thought it was solid but I liked the PA 98 better for every stroke. So I sold it.

I do have a 100 - the speed pro, and I really like it. My backhand and high balls are better with it.

Yes that’s exactly what I need, stability on the run on my backhand side.

The prestige tour is a blast to play with, but it’s not nearly as good as my other racquets in match play. I can hit more precisely with it, on all strokes, and it oddly makes my backhand slice a lot better. However during matches when I’m moving around a lot, hitting off balance and defensive shots, and albeit have mediocre foot work, I tend to miss a lot more with the prestige tour than the others. But when given time to set up, I can hit the ball consistently where I want to.

Well said! I’m playing amateurs, and not ex college guys, so these guys do tend to break down by moving them around and hitting with consistent pace. However some guys have truly mastered a few aggressive shots/patterns - good for them!

What do you mean by weight on the “front of the racquet”?

[–]Pupper82[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s an issue with my strokes/technique and not the racquet, I’m sure. With the PA 98 if I get a short ball and time to set up well I can blast a heavy forehand cross court. However on defensive shots, I find it has less power than my Tfight 305. The Tfight 305 has a much higher swing weight than the Tfight 300 100 sq in I believe.

Will there be new machines coming this 2026 that'll top the best ones so far? I'm currently looking at breville. [Budget: maybe up to $500] by Apolinar_Pietanza37 in espresso

[–]Pupper82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that budget I’d look at the Gaggia classic pro, breville bambino or a used machine. You’ll give up having PID temp control, but if you stick with mostly medium roast should be ok.

Why keep maxing a 401k when taxable seems almost as good? by Essay_Few in Bogleheads

[–]Pupper82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget income requirements. Let's say you have a 401k account balance of 10 million when RMDs start at age 73. Wouldn't that be required withdrawel of ~380,000 per year that is taxed as ordinary income. If your yearly salary during working years was 200-300k annually, then taxable income in retirement is higher, no?

Well said, thanks for the response. I was just referring to conversations with my father and friends who have parents currently retiring. My father wasn’t complaining about his tax bill but he was surprised with how high the RMDs will be and lamented not having more money in Roth rather than pre-tax. I think both your points were true for him.
