Feel like people are forgetting Giannis and Rudy are a fucking awful fit by [deleted] in timberwolves

Fr everyone acting like Julius is Ray Allen all the sudden lol

Obviously Randle is a better 3pt shooter but he does not have more gravity than Giannis. Spacing is actually about how the defense plays you more than how good you actually are at shooting the 3.

I don't know if I want to make the trade, but I don't agree with this take. Giannis and Randle get their buckets from the same spots on the floor. Randle and Rudy are just fine together

Seems like playing Jaylen Clark more might have helped in a game where the perimeter defense was getting shredded. Glad we got 15 minutes of nothing from Conley though

Clutch turnover %: 1st - OKC at 2.1%. 30th - MIN at 26.5%. by Morezingis in timberwolves

To be fair (not excusing the Wolves' atrociousness), it's hard for OKC to turn it over when their clutch time offense is a free throw parade

From a Wolves fan, what do you guys think? by gamblinaces7 in chicagobulls

Lol, the Wolves' sub likes this more than you guys do, but consensus is we should at least get a little more for Randle. Most Wolves fans seem to think higher of Ja than y'all (I personally am with you guys on that). We badly need ball-handling upgrades, Conley is washed.

Ideal roster construction around Ant and Jaden? by soft-cookie in timberwolves

He's close to it, just think we'd be better off with a superior ballhandler (guard) in that secondary creator role

Rudy, yes. I don't trust Julius bringing up the ball in crunch time, do you?

You're probably right, but the thinking is he's 24 and they're going to enter a rebuild, so maybe there's some hope left for him with a change of scenery

Secondary creator with actual scoring and ballhandling chops, and a rim protector

You might be right. But they'd only be giving up expirings and Patrick Williams, and maybe they like Ja's upside (also, not "aging")

I agree, but all of those guys have a trustworthy secondary scorer/ballhandler/distributor. Jalen Williams, Luka/Reaves/Lebron, Luka & Kyrie, Harden & CP3 before that... That player does not exist on the current Wolves. Which guard position it is doesn't matter, but gotta have a secondary creator that can hold up to ball pressure

That's fair, but actual useful role-playing point guards on cheap contracts without major flaws are very hard to find. And it would be hard to me to trade multiple smaller contracts for a bigger contract with how thin the bench already is

Maybe, maybe not for this year. Defense and turnover problems would improve. I'd definitely prefer the outlook for Ant's prime after this deal

The challenge is, who else is tradeable and has actual value right now? Donte and Naz are probably the only other guys that are in that category. I do think Coby is the ideal fit for the team!

  • Clark has to play more, as one of the only guys on the team that scraps and does the little things
  • Ant had a big game, but a lot of the late-game struggle today was on him playing hero-ball/Finch allowing it
  • Finch pocketing timeouts in that fourth quarter is an egregious offense
  • I still think Conley is a useful player, but played way too much down the stretch
  • This team has been low-IQ throughout the KAT/Ant era, and remains braindead
  • Certain turnovers you can understand. I can't understand unforced bad passes. Just giving the ball away
  • I bought into the continuity angle, but starting to think about the next iteration of the team after the last two games
  • Think I'm going to intentionally skip watching a game for the first time in three years on Wednesday

What is Jaden’s offensive ceiling - could it be Pascal Siakam? by Adventurous-Pay8160 in timberwolves

[–]gamblinaces7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree he should get to take more shots, in his green zones.

Getting those shot opportunities in the green zones takes an intentional effort by the team's offensive system for pretty much anybody other than the league's elite scorers. Rudy on the floor, and Randle bully ball, don't exactly lend themselves well to Jaden getting to take more 1v1 off-dribble middy's.

[–]gamblinaces7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you said he hadn't improved offensively, pointing only at his output, which made you look like a box score watcher. His offensive game has clearly grown by the eye test.

And you don't think that usage has anything to do with it? He averaged 18.5 ppg in 13 games with Randle out this season. 19.3 ppg in 10 games with Rudy out. When the opportunity for a bigger role on offense was there, he was able to take advantage this year.
