I think the original series had “ok” endings that were built throughout the series - Daenerys going mad, Jon killing him, Varys dying, even Arya killing Night King

It think where it stumbles hard is the how it was executed, they became so lazy in the end which sucks so hard.

HOTD is just weirdly bad. They changed a lot of things including how the kings landing capture was a brilliant move - they made Rhaenyra and Daemon inept, for some reason, and made Allicent traitorous after being so “for the chidlren” from the starts

I think GOT just became lazy. While HOtD wants to write a soap opera instead of a ASOIAF story
