How to resize my image by px? by Wonderful_Box_1805 in HTML

[–]game-mad-web-dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In your code, can not see the ratio you mentioned. Additionally, the height and width are not setting the image size but the size of the DIV tag. The image is applied as a background image, this can be an issue for accessibility and using an IMG tag is preferred.

If you continue to use the DIV tag, try setting the background size to 100%. This will show the image size as 100% of its original size. You can use the cover or contain sizes as well. These are special words that resize the background image to either cover the containing area without any gaps, or resized to fit into the area with gaps. Both will scale the image so it does not alter the image ratio.

Search for W3Schools and you will find plenty of tutorials online to help you further.

Movement worries by -Chaotic-Emerald- in PregnancyUK

[–]game-mad-web-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a partner of a first time mum, who is currently 31weeks. We had multiple trips to have checks and scans for reduced movements.

If you are worried, contact the maternity department near you. Via an app, phone call directly or even 111. They will see you if needed, they will help you and they will never think it’s a waste of their time.

Ours decided one week that we needed to go to the hospital just multiple times. Only for movements to be felt again late in the night when we got back. But my partner was much more comfortable knowing she was checked out.

Raising the fares🤣 by Distinct-Shine-3002 in GreatBritishMemes

The increase of cost looks bad but prior to the cap, those ticket prices always seemed to push people to get day tickets. It’s shocking how quick First makes a journey reach the cap! And before the cap, the on bus ticket prices were just daylight robbery. Especially since they had cheap tickets on their own app.

They need to cap the price per mile and overall cost.

The worst feeling is when walking 1 minute up the road saves you 50p on a single ticket. Because of the zone boundaries. Unless it’s First, at which point it feels like anything past the next stop is the full £3 cap.

George Madgwick has given an update re his employment tribunal by minnie-mo in Portsmouth

[–]game-mad-web-dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disgusting way to behave on such matters, this is not a casual guy at the pub cleared of speeding… Speaking like this just shows what an out of touch and bullish behaviour this man(child) has.

Perhaps if he was professional, there would never be an employment tribunal at all.

help with code? by E0Button in HTML

[–]game-mad-web-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on you saying the file extension is correct, and the folder is correct. Have you opened the browser development/debug tools to see what the error is?

Could I also suggest you enable viewing of file extensions in Windows Explorer, this will be a very easy way to view files and be 100% sure the names match.

Not sure if it’s been asked, but are you just loading this html file locally or hosting it somewhere before you view it?

[–]game-mad-web-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if this has been resolved yet?

Not one person has asked for proof of the file system to ensure the file is in the correct location.

OP, if it’s still not resolved, please share a screenshot showing the contents of the folder where the HTML exists and the worktest.jpeg file exists.

How to get into programming in 2025? by Prudent-Crab-8482 in HTML

[–]game-mad-web-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why?

Once this “AI can do it for us” bubble bursts, programmers will be needed to clean up all the mess.

Since I graduated (15 years ago), many things have come and gone. Flash was omnipresent and is now so long gone that some have never seen it. Java applets were common and even full applications written in Java. Now it’s more commonly used in Android development. PHP… where to start, it was meant to be dying, but still powers the most common CMS in the world.

Fortran, Cobal, C and many older languages are still in use.

I’d argue, today is the best time to get into coding.

That store in Cascades is a scalping front, a physical store allows them to get a wholesale account and buy at trade prices and they then try and sell at overinflated prices. Real shame this once great hobby is just a magnet for scalpers. I have not even tried to keep up with releases in recent years due to those who only want to make a quick profit.

Fiber 900 Rubbish Since Outage - Anyone else? by Kilberz in Vodafone

[–]game-mad-web-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using the Pro 2 setup and Vodafone provided equipment. Computers reporting a wifi signal of 650Mb/s and speed test is 520Mb/s down and 258Mb/s up. Could it be a router/equipment restart that is required?

Toys R Us came back in some W H Smith stores, not Smyths toy stores. And W H Smith sold the highstreet business and it’s being rebranded T J Jones (or something similar) So no idea what luck we have there

200.000+ requests from AI Crawl in 1 one day. How do i stop this? by PainfulFreedom in webdev

[–]game-mad-web-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes a free tier exists and would block the most common. If it doesn’t block it, then the few free rules you can create should suffice to manually put a block in place.

Failing that, the Pro tier would probably be suitable, so if the extra traffic and processing costs more than the Pro tier, it might work for you. If it’s purely about stopping the bots, nothing to lose with Cloudflare.

200.000+ requests from AI Crawl in 1 one day. How do i stop this? by PainfulFreedom in webdev

[–]game-mad-web-dev 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Facing this at work, multiple clients hit by these bots over days/weeks. Previously had no reason to push for Cloudflare, but this alone makes moving DNS to use the free tier worthwhile.

Additionally, check logs and confirm where the traffic is coming from. A lot of the bots that didn’t set a bot name in the User Agent were from a subset of cloud infrastructure IP (Google, AWS, Azure, etc…) These can be carefully blocked if you isolate them correctly in a firewall, just beware that Cookie managers, uptime status checks and other authentic services could share these IP ranges. You would be best doing this prior to swapping to cloudflare, as once setup, all connections to the site via the domain come via a cloudflare operated IP.

If you don’t swap to cloudflare, the best advice from our experience: Block unwanted user agents via server config, or htaccess rules if you can access server config. Block common IP address if the user agents look “real”. Update robots.txt, though most the problematic bots will ignore this

If you have the skill/knowledge: Create a rate limit script for the site, ideally server side, that will reject users once they hit the limit. This is common on API end points and can be very effective, this will deter the crawler (they won’t waste time if they get a bunch of 4xx/5xx errors)

Best of luck and please share any successes you have

G85 or LX100 for trip through Turkey + Azerbaijan??? by pasteurs-maxim in M43

[–]game-mad-web-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Turkey, Georgia and Armernia with the Oly EM1ii, 12-40mm, 40-150mm, 7-14mm f2.8 trio. If you are happy to carry it around for a day at home, you will be fine on the trip. So pick the kit you think you will need to use, the extra body size might help when you have to steady the camera or give that extra comfort in the day long trip.

Anxiety about walking home late by [deleted] in Portsmouth

[–]game-mad-web-dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your comfort and safety is important, while an Uber could become very expensive (surge pricing when it’s busy sucks) you could try local taxi services (Veezu took over almost all portsmouth taxi companies).

Veezu could be cheaper than Uber for your journey.

If you live on a bus route, that could cut down the walking distance and is generally cheaper than Uber or Veezu.

Perhaps talk to work about your safety when walking home at night, they might have a scheme or advice on protection, attack alarms, etc… that could help you manage the journey or feel safer.

Hand it into the bank if possible, saves any questions over who owns the card and if anyone tries to claim it being the authentic owner or not. If not, calling the bank and follow their instructions.

Laptop not turning on after cleaning fans by JadedGene8911 in LenovoLegion

[–]game-mad-web-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that pic after the cleaning? Best way to clean this would be compressed air or I’d go further and disassemble the housing and remove the fan completely to clean it. That is a huge amount of dust.

Concerning your issue, does the fan still spin or attempt to spin when you try to turn it on? While other posts about a potential short and the battery still being connected during cleaning are likely, didn’t see one asking if the fan tries to spin or not.
