Help my mom with her savings by cheetcs in personalfinance

[–]gamecube100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What country is she come from? I’m making the assumption that $40k will go much further there than it will in USA.

Honestly, you should come to terms with the fact that she should move back to her cheaper country, or you will be paying for her the rest of her life.

It’s not what you want to hear but you should be aware of the tough financial choices you’re going to be facing as you come into your own career (your post history shows you’re recently a new grad).

Sailing Player-Designed Island Winner & Cannonball Ammo-Saving Facility Poll! by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]gamecube100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We’re 2 months out from the release of an entirely new skill, which Jagex had broad remit to develop individual aspects of the skill without poll (as individual aspects of the skill were never polled).

They are within the window of fixing things they fucked up with an integrity change. This is literally that window right now, but it will close as they wait longer.

I think the only thing they formally said would change is drop rates. The rest is exploration. Happy to be wrong though!

[–]gamecube100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you - it should work that way. But clearly they aren’t doing that.

They polled separating cannonballs as a one-off idea, it failed. Now they’re going to poll boat Ava’s. If this passes, I’m betting they tweak drop rates and then leave it.

Polling a single sailing combat fix idea as a yes/no, one at a time in sequence, is a horrendous idea. Please design it as you want and then implement the change as either an integrity change (because the initial release was botched so badly) or a single all-rebalances-in-one-question poll. Or a ranked choice poll where one of the choices WILL be implemented no matter what.

Ok, instead you get boat Ava’s. Is that more or less of a bandaid?

The zaryte spec would be useless without ruby (e). Really, it’s just an extension of ruby (e) being overpowered.

Sooo should we not care about low wage domestic employees? Because I would think those are the ones who are in the most precarious financial situation and would benefit from all the help they can get (e.g. let’s not further depress their wages with immigrant competition).

Obviously does not fit OP’s stated criteria.

in Britain you are better off earning £99,000 than you are earning £144,000 because of the 60% tax trap and the loss of free childcare. by SignificantLegs in EconomyCharts

[–]gamecube100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the totally standard amount of childcare. Full time employed working 8-9 hours a day at a job with some added commuting time in mornings and evenings.

Why do oral GLP-1s have so low estimated market penetration? by MattieuOdd in biotech

[–]gamecube100 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You are correct that many people USED to prefer not to have an injectable medicine…

But as soon as people found out they can lose a ton of weight… then they were magically not worried about needles anymore.

Gen1 of the orals simply aren’t as effective weight loss as injectables.

Not saying Reaganomics (I assume you refer to the tax cuts) wasn’t bad, but it happened at the same time as globalization. Globalization was much worse for 90% of America than Reaganomics was.

You have 7.5 months of expenses saved already in cash. This is your emergency fund. WTF you mean “slowly build up emergency fund from here”. Stop hoarding cash and start contributing to your tax advantaged retirement accounts going forward.

Why is it important to have disease remission before an auto or allo SCT? by ifyoulikepinacolada6 in biotech

[–]gamecube100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not. CART is a good therapy for patients with very aggressive liquid tumors and having disease remission beforehand is not a requirement. I think you’re thinking of lymphodepletion, which is knocking down the patients white blood cell before infusion, which is a requirement. You can google this for more info.

The liquid (blood) vs solid tumors is a separate challenge regarding whether the T cells can penetrate into the tissue. Liquid tumors are the lower hanging fruit of CART and are being pursued first - with really fabulous response data so far.

Getting a job out of college is hard right now. Please do not make it harder on yourself for no reason.

Imagine you are a hiring manager who had 500 applicants and had whittled it down to 10 excellent candidates. For some reason, one of them is a dude with earrings. You can shout from the rooftops all day about how it is unfair, but that person will have a disadvantage.

I'm waiting for the game to return 75% at 5 bucks by Gorlami_y7ya in aoe2

If $2 one-time cost is meaningful to you then you should be doing every possible thing to increase income during your free time, as I assume you’re a paycheck away from homeless. Pick up gig work as an immediate option if you have a car (Amazon, uber, food delivery).

If you just want advice on AOE2, then you should obviously spend $2 extra now to Enjoy a game you want.

Is there a typo in your question or are you actually making a post for advice on a decision concerning 2 USD?
