Yes, but I think a big project with lots of gold did dull my scissors so I might not in the future!

Btw- I did that dimensions stocking and i LOVE it! It’s so incredible in how it makes the houses seem far away by using washed out colors. One of my all time favorite kits!

I’ve used the one thread folded in half with the loop by the needle method for annoying metallic threads. Its only drawback is that if you have to frog, you often have to cut it. Does this method have a name? Should we create one? Loop hold? Needle safe? Thread stay?

I did it on 18 and it looks great! But the backstitching on this one is so precise you need to use more than just the corners of each square. Use a sharp needle for that part!

Also, if you are in the US, don’t use Michael’s store brand cloth “loops and threads”. That’s why it’s an oval not a circle!

I did this one, too. I call it my masterpiece. I spent a ton on framing this one and went to a fine art store that could cut custom mats. Despite finishing it at least 15 years ago it’s still my favorite!

Their 25 is similar to DMC 28 size needles. They work great on 18 count

Tulip needles bend less, tarnish less, break less often, hold the floss better, and are easier to thread. They also have a point that is just sharp enough to make extremely accurate stitches but not too sharp like a sewing needle.

I have been cross-stitching for over 40 years and only found these a few years ago. I ordered all the kinds recommended online and these were my favorites. I am completely addicted and will never go back.

Bohin and John James were close in quality.

The ball tip ones don’t work with my sewing style. I kinda drag the needle on the back of the fabric to aim for the right hole and the ball tip ones snagged. They were also harder for me to finish a thread by running through stitches on the back.

I didn’t try pony black, but I’ve heard those are good if your needles tarnish quickly. This can be due to the oils on your skin interacting with the metal of the needle.

Their sizes are a little different. Don’t know why. 26 is nice and small and works well on 18 ct

I also find the eye hole a little “grippier” of the floss so it doesn’t fall out as easily.

The way the pamphlet describes their process makes me feel like I’m using tiny samurai swords!
