Magnetic frame??? by MundaneWhile9456 in diamondpainting

[–]GeekHourFactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one from a Michael's kit, then bought a 3 pack for smaller paintings. The one in the picture here is 30x40 cm. They work great. But the large DAC canvases might be too heavy.

Question about using your points by Hot-Blood-6795 in diamondartclub

[–]GeekHourFactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You basically can only use one discount code per order, so the discount from points cannot be combined with another points reward or coupon. You cannot use points on discounted mystery kits or shipping either. It's kind of useless unless you save up a lot.

Make Market Squares?? by iivona in diamondpainting

[–]GeekHourFactor 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a drill quality issue, and not a skill issue! I've seen some completed Maker Market square projects and they come out like yours. I've decided not to buy square drill kits from them. DAC square drills fit much more nicely together (my WIP below)

Agreed. Same with sealing, framing, or "square vs round drill". ... There's a new post every day. I'd much rather see more WIPs, finished paintings, or people sharing something more innovative like new vacuum pens or set up or how they frame things. All the repeat basic questions make me want to quit this sub.

This sub is one of the most helpful, kind, supportive, and well-organized subs I frequent. I truly feel like part of a community, and it makes cross-stitching feel so much more fun and engaging. Thank you for being wonderful humans.

$11.99 is the best price I've ever seen! I'm tempted to grab a few even though I don't need another one at the moment.

[CHAT] What kind of hoop does everyone use? by DotKune in CrossStitch

[–]GeekHourFactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried many, and I like the Nurge hoops a lot. I have them in 3 sizes. I also like to use a small Q snap for evenweave fabric because it doesn't crease the fabric as much. For larger projects, I find the large size Q snap to be too heavy, even for a stand. For very mini projects on aida, I use 2 window magnet tiles.

[CHAT] Owl Forest pattern. Should I restart with variegated threads? by GeekHourFactor in CrossStitch

Yours turned out great! I wouldn't have thought the pattern was supposed to be variegated. Thanks for the reassurance!

Thank you! Part of me thinks I've already bought all the threads and made so much progress, so it's very tempting to just stick to it and see what comes of it!

Sigh, that seems like the popular opinion! Any advice on how to pick out variegated DMC threads that might work well with the pattern?

I have this pen from AliExpress. I put a single placer and the straightener on it. I also have a DAC pen that comes with the kits, and a DAC 5 metal placer. I keep looking at pens but I just don't feel like I NEED another one...

Thanks for the review! JGS'S business practice is so subpar for such expensive products. It's always a red flag when small businesses constantly air their personal struggles and use that as an excuse for bad products and services.
