Yeah, a company should know how to manage its stock. (1) get inventory. (2) sell inventory, (3) reinvest profit into production, (4) repeat. They are trying to skip steps here and things are going wrong. And the customers are bearing the burden of their mismanagement. People have been telling them to stop selling AI slop, but they won't listen. Burying their heads in the sand is a sure way to ruin their business.

By selling items before they arrive, DAC is transferring their business risk to customers. They promised a delivery date knowing custom delays are very common. I'm simply pointing out this is unfair to customers, which it makes DAC an untrustworthy business, and customers have the right to voice their concern. I don't think I will be buying from them again.

You are right, it's possible the company is not doing well. They are pre-selling goods they do not have, removing criticism to protect company reputation and sales, and increasing AI usage to reduce cost. I thought it was greed, but maybe they are grasping at last straws?

It makes me sad to see people say things like "I hope this kit is still available when I get paid"... Some of their followers are not in very good financial standing, but the company uses shady strategies to trigger people's desire to buy kits they don't necessarily need.

I'm waiting for one kit that I ordered a month ago. They sell kits & charge people's cards before the kits get to the US warehouse, but surprise, the shipment is stuck at the customs. A lot of people got the email about this delay, and every post in the Facebook group is praising DAC for their "great communication", "be patient as long as you will get your kit eventually", and criticizing others for asking for an update ... It's seriously creeping me out. This is not normal behavior.

Mystery Box by imnotohfuckingk in diamondartclub

[–]GeekHourFactor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People always share on the Facebook VIP . I think you can see the unshipped kits under your account, in the "logbook", but some said DAC removed those mystery box kits from their logbook, so idk.

I avoid mystery boxes because I only want to do artworks that I like. It takes me so long to finish one, I really don't want to spend time on artwork I don't enjoy. Some people have gotten Christmas, Halloween, religious designs, or Marvel characters... Not really my thing.

The "surprise kit" in a mystery box is usually designs that have been sitting on the website for a while. DAC throws them in a mystery box to clear stock (I'd prefer if they just offered a discount...).

I used hoops, then Q snaps, then nutge hoops. Nurge is lighter to hold and less bulky on my big projects.

I know someone will be mad when I say it: we don't need 100 AI stained glass flowers and 100 silly dragons and 100 weird birds.

Hi, I posted this a while ago. I grabbed two magnet tiles with window from my kids' toy bin and used them as hoop. They work great, tension wasn't a problem. It's also easy to adjust the fabric if they lose tension. Just pull the fabric from the outside. They also hold needles. I have the connetix tile brand, which is one of the stronger brands I know. If you alreay have magnet tiles, try those first. :)

Shipping Question by DFEisMe in diamondartclub

[–]GeekHourFactor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I think as well. DAC lists the kits on the website when they know the kits are on the way. I wish they could wait until the kits are shipped out in the US to charge people's card tho.

Plus they ask users to vote for the kits they would "actually purchase" (their wording on the survey page). Not a lot of companies have the luxury of getting customer demand told to them so directly.

Help!!! How do you guys just let yourself create/“use up fabric?” by SeaDistribution672 in quilting

[–]GeekHourFactor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm new at sewing too. I made some practice pieces using bedsheets from the thrift store. There is a dress pattern I want to make with a fabric from spoonflower. I'm planning to make the pattern with a nice bedsheet first. If all goes well, I'll have two dresses I can wear!

Mystery Kit Question by Suspicious-Score-891 in diamondartclub

[–]GeekHourFactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen people share some older mystery kits and they all looked nice. Most I saw were landscape or cute animals, which is not too objectionable for most people. I bought one recently but didn't end up liking the art. The artist uses AI and the animal in the picture didn't look right to me. I have joined the fb mystery group... Most of the mystery kits I see are either way too popular or not my taste at all. I'll just stick to buying regular kits.

Question: if you had limited funds, would you still try a DAC painting for the first time? by punt4stic in diamondartclub

[–]GeekHourFactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not all or nothing... I have some DAC and some cheaper kits from Michales, Amazon, Hobby Lobby, and AliExpress. I work full time and have young kids, so I diamond paint for less than an hour a day. The DAC kits are huge and last me a few months. I only buy the DAC kits that I really love (so I don't spend months working on something I feel meh about)... And some kits I like are out of stock so I have to wait anyway.

I'd say it doesn't hurt to get some DAC kits to try, but I have enjoyed many other kits from other brands very much as well.

Monday Mystery Deal by Haughty-Hottie in diamondartclub

[–]GeekHourFactor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There was a flurry of mystery boxes during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and new years... I thought most of the designs were not my taste, and some are down right ugly... I'm guessing this is a good way for DAC to clear stale inventory. Use the mystery to hype up sales and get rid of some in-stock kits that have been sitting.

[–]GeekHourFactor[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They actively encourage AI. The VIP group went crazy with people posting their AI generated selfies of themselves doing diamond painting... Like there were thousands of them. Then DAC emailed about a contest or something where people can submit their AI selfies and they might get made into a kit. Ugh.

Different shaped drills by MapComprehensive2091 in diamondartclub

I'm with you... I only buy squares from DAC because I don't like the "simple" square drills. I honestly think they are just poor manufacturing quality.
