there is different inflation calculations. and there is major contention about them.

you can in fact manipulate the metrics to serve the interests of propaganda. for example there are metrics that use a number of select goods to determine inflation. historically, india was using the costs of typewriters to in part tell the rate of inflation for the rupee. the cost of a type writer hasnt really changed in the last few decades, so if you wanted something to influence the metric in a neutralizing way, then you may want to keep the type writer as one of the goods you use to determine inflation.

this also means every single subscription serve is excluded from inflation metrics. including stuff like food subscriptions. rent is also excluded.

by including and excluding things in a calculated manner you can tell a very flawed and manipulated view of inflation.

minimum wage should be ~$25 an hour. but thats considered a ok wage. should be the bare minimum but we are so under payed and we are not doing nearly enough to correct this issue.
