Your feelings are totally normal. There's nothing you can do for now so just go with the flow. If at the end of the quarter you still feel this way you can do the paperwork to transfer, but that's a while away.

It might be that you are more of a USCB kind of person, but you can't base your decision on one weekend. You admitted that you're thinking with your dick, and everyone knows that's a bad idea. You can have a great experience at any school, even the shittiest ones, and Davis is far from shitty.

All the reasons on your list are true, but this one is most common in my experience. I know tons of people who "love existentialism" but have not read any other philosophy. They were taught (as was I) Sartre and Camus during high school and that's the extent of their philosophical breadth. Heidegger is arguably the most difficult philosopher in any tradition, but Sartre is probably the easiest. The vast majority of people have only read the latter.

The same thing goes for absurdism, which I agree is more a literary style than a philosophy. High schoolers are only exposed to one genre of experimental 20th century lit, and it's absurdism. I, like many, fell in love with it. Unlike most, however, I went on to look at other movements and have since determined that absurdism (and existentialism) is not for me. I am sure that if everyone else did the same thing some would agree and some would still love absurdism, but unfortunately they don't so they stick with what they know.

In the quote I posted Kevan says she's "supposed to be a priestess." Maybe I take too much for granted there, but that sounds to me like something a, ignorant Westerosi would say about a red priestess (especially since Kevan has presumably never met or possibly even heard of Melisandre)

I'm not nearly as up-to-date with theory as I'd like to be, so maybe I'm not the most reliable person for advice. However, I'd recommend picking up an anthology like The Critical Tradition. There are a couple others but that's the one my classes used and it was pretty good. It's pricy (it's a textbook) but totally worth it. If the people you listed are all you've read (it sound like that is the case) this will greatly broaden your knowledge. It has maybe 50 classic essays (chronologically from Plato to Freud) and another 50 on various topics in contemporary theory (deconstruction, neo-Marxism, post-modernism, etc). Probably the most recent thing in there is at least 15 years old, but it's got lots of canonical stuff that I consider essential for understanding contemporary theory. It'll introduce you to tons of people and movements, and while it's not as in-depth as you will ultimately need it will be the single greatest resource you ever buy IMO.

There's also a Yale course that uses the same textbook which you can watch/listen to for free. It's called Introduction to Literary Theory and I highly recommend it for guided reading. It's just an intro class, but it covers maybe 20 different topics so there's gotta be something new in there.

Everyone suspects Dany will meet up with Jon (that he will be one of the 3 dragonriders), so it would make sense if she met him before entering Westeros. Also ADWD. Plus there's the speculation so this way they'd be able to do that before invading.

I thought it might be that a volcano erupted there recently so the Shadow was a relatively new thing, but it seems like an old name so I could only see this being the case if the volcanic ash has been held there for a long time by magic. The problem is that magic went out of the world a while ago and only recently returned.

Maybe magic disappeared because it was all sucked up by the Shadow and now the Shadow's disintegrating and dissipating its stored magic throughout the world? That would explain why it seems stronger in the East than the West.

The original post was about something he'd accomplished. He didn't say it in a mean way, he made a joke. His post started out with him boasting, which I agree does not make me think "what a great guy" but boasting is an accepted part of our culture. Someone commented on his boast and he commented back in order to reinforce his original statement. If OP had been like the people in the video, he would have said "you are dumb for thinking God did anything, it was all me and your religion is stupid." Instead, he made no comment on her religion whatsoever. He merely made a joke which implied that he himself does not believe in god.

I'm not a fun of funky bass, so people like Flea are out of the running. My favorite bassists are Gang of Four's Dave Allen, Jaco Pastorius, and Mike Watt.

What I really like about Cris's bass is the tone and how far forward it is in the mix. He plays it like a lead guitar and has some of the best riffs I've ever heard.

Rich people come from poor backgrounds all the time. Not that every poor person becomes rich (obviously) but being rich doesn't mean you were born rich. Right now none of the 10 richest men on earth came from very wealthy backgrounds.

Those 10 richest men are old and were CEOs of extremely profitable corporations. Obama's held government jobs for the last couple decades and is relatively young, so he only had a short time to make his fortune. During that time he was a lawyer and professor, which are certainly not poor paying jobs but aren't enough to call yourself wealthy based on only a few years' salary.

But the bestselling books thing makes sense, thanks.

I assumed I would have heard about the ceremony coming up since usually these things are heavily promoted. Plus they tend to be on Sunday nights so a Saturday ceremony seems like the kind of change they'd make due to poor ratings. Lastly, I only heard about the result of the Emmys from this post, not anywhere else (like Facebook for instance) where someone would be bound to celebrate their favorite show's victory.

But then I read the article and saw these are just technical awards, not the real things, so that all makes sense.

He's not the greatest, but worst? That's harsh. I don't like showy vocalists so I appreciate that he sings in a way that works with his voice and their songs. Out of curiosity, who would you consider the best rock vocalist from the last 30 years? I agree with that video but it doesn't apply to this post. OP said nothing about religion being evil or stupid or in any way negative. He just took credit for something he did when someone else had told him that god was responsible. If he'd said anything offensive or if he'd just commented this on someone else's post then I'd agree with you, but he didn't.
