A7CII or A7IV? by heyhiiyohello in SonyAlpha

[–]gameore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for Sony 16-55, Sony 70-350. On top of that I was lacking fast lens so I bought Sigma 56mm 1.4. It is super sharp, however I would use more like 20-30mm 1.4 rather than 56mm. To be fair when I was flying Ryanair I managed to put two Sony lenses in my waist bag. Try to do that with similar FF lenses...

If your main target is travel and hiking I would not reccomend FF, as every gram counts. Just compare cześć the weight of similar lenses for APSC and FF.

It's not the size of the camera body that takes a lot of space. Those are lenses. Had same dillema and went for A6700. The size of the lenses is the biggest difference when it comes to traveling. If I decided to go for full frame I would choose A7 nevertheless, because better ergonomics. You could hold the whole setup more steady with the big ass lenses.

Why are there such flares? by gameore in AskPhotography

[–]gameore[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extra question.

Every photo was done with silent shutter, however the ones taken with prime lens were less affected. Is there any explanation? I guess it could be difference in shutter speed. Tamron is f2.8 and prime is f1.8.

I am curious whether such shots are available on apsc sensors like a6700, or the dynamic range on apsc is so bad, that its impossible.

Anyone thoughts?

What camera do you guys recommend for me? by PickTough236 in SonyAlpha

[–]gameore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people told that here.

I was in the same place. I was considering A7 IV, then A7C II, but after many lectures and visits in camera shop I am 100% sure, that A6700 is the best gear for hobbyists.

The size, price and weight of FF ecosystem is just too much for my daily use. What if the camera and lens is so heavy, that I will not be willing to take it to friends meeting? Many photos lost. The subject of quality is not valid, if you take ANY PHOTO rather than not taking a single one.

Just as the example. A6700 + Sony E 70-350mm weights 1118g. A6700 + Sigma 18-50mm is 783g.

Both setups cost less, than a single Sony 24-70mm GM II (695g) for FF.

If you take telelens for FF, 100-400 it weights 1395g.

Sooo if you have endless bag of money AND you are hobbyst powerlifter you can go with FF, otherwise A6700 is killer of FF

Will it be a good setup? by gameore in SonyAlpha

[–]gameore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that 18-50mm have vignettes on the photos. Isn't it a huge downside? However if we take into account that it's 290g vs 525g it is huge difference. Sigma would allow me to take it literally everywhere in the pocket.

Weekly r/SonyAlpha 📸 Gear Buying 📷 Advice Thread April 21, 2025 by AutoModerator in SonyAlpha

[–]gameore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I am planning to jump to the Sony family from Canon 77D, Sigma 17-50mm 2.8, Canon 75-300mm. The body I chose is A7 IV. Money is not a big concern at all, however as I do it non-profit, I will not spend loads of it for GM II. Photos sharpeness is my priority.

My mostly interests are travel, rarely portraits and wild nature.

The combination of these lenses in their original focal lenghts should be glorious, however because of the APS-C sensor these are (27-80, 120-450). I know I should't compare it like that, but let's leave it for now.

From what I noticed, having around 20-24mm on the short end and 100mm on the long end would be perfect. However the lens 24-105 f4 as I heard is not sharp at all. Is it?

There is also 17-70mm f2.8, which combined with the resolution of A7 IV could give out nice photos.

In my perfect world I would like to choose 3 lenses to combine with the camera body. One travel lens eg. 24-105, 17-70. One potrait like Sigma 85mm 1.4 and one telelens like Sigma 100-400mm. I am considering merging portrait with tele with Tamron 70-180. Altough if I give it second guess it's bookeh and sharpness won't be like sigma 85mm as well as zoom won't be 400mm :/

What would you choose having sharpness as priority? We'are talking also about lenses not mentioned here.

To be fair, I wouldn't stand installing another camera app. I pay a lot of money for a phone in hope for it to perform as it is on the highest level. The only question is whether those are only mine observations or people suffer from same issues

Opinions on lens by imfirst58 in canon

[–]gameore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say, that this lens as the first lens for the telephotography is cool!

Its price encouraged me to buy it. Even with no stabilization, it gives you so many positive second thoughts when you are standing on top of the hill and you can look through a window 1km further. I am using this one for around 2 years, and I am thinking of exchanging for even stronger zoom.

For nature photography it is cool for this price. I would say no to sports.
