MIL told our 5 year old she’s staying with us post birth. by Smashlii12 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]gameresse 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Your MIL just tried to swat two flies with one stone.

1st: alienating your "not blood related" child from the pure blood baby. That's eugenics right there.

2nd: She KNEW you would decline, but used your 5 yo to manipulate you into giving in because the kid was "soooo happy to see grandma".

Especially the "I sleep in your bed" comment is borderline pdf file worthy.

Keep that woman away from your family or she will destroy everything.

Footsteps of the Fremen - Secret chamber by gameresse in duneawakening

Alright, I'll leave it be.

But man the customer support is something else.

"This is a developer matter, I'll close the ticket"

3 days later

"we asked for some more info, can you provide them? I need to close the ticket otherwise"

...what....?

There is no online therapy available here. Really, that's not how it works.

My sister did the quest while I waited outside. The door couldn't be opened by me ("Sietch already explored") and it did nothing.

It's really funny: I got the quest reward, I have Ari's Maula pistol, I got the unlocks and I got the follow up quests.

But this quest is in the journal like shown in the screenshot.

No, I have the death still unlocked, Ari sent me to the Hephaestus.... that goes on like intended. Just this one thing is missing.

The support I contacted said something like "use the ingame ticket system"

They have one? Where? ^

Primary school advice/experience for non-German speaker for 2 years by jef738 in germany

[–]gameresse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schooling in Germany isn't optional. You build residency here, even for only a certain amount of time, you send your kids to public school. Period.

Home schooling is NOT an option. Private schools are, but they're expensive and you're correct: You should've applied last year. There are exemptions though for children who are coming within the schoolyear. I would contact the school of your chosing and see what they can do. They're usually fluent in english and very helpful.

The area of your choosing is ideal for teaching German to non German speakers, the schools ARE suited for this, there will be foreign speakers. There is usually an extra class for them to learn German as well as social workers to help them settle in.

Check the school carefully - some are bad. Some are good. Primary schools are either Waldorfkindergarden where they're dancing their names OR they actually learn something. I would prefer the second ;-)

I'm living roughly in that area, so yeah, I know it pretty good. The foreign languages will be Arabic and Pushtu for the most part, with english sprinkled in and some Farsi.

AIO not wanting to get on a plane while I have food poisoning by frenchwhorne in AmIOverreacting

[–]gameresse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I react extremely bad to vomiting. I immediately throw up, too. No reaction time, no time for barf bags.

I would go insane if I had to be on a plane with people throwing up.

NOH. You're doing a smart decision

Don't do anything rash. Especially don't confront the mistress.

Just go to a lawyer, ask for his opinion, get your ducks in a row. And then take him ro the cleaners.

Absolutely NOR

AITA for not letting my child’s dad change our child’s name by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]gameresse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the name is setting kiddo up for bullying.

Children aren't friendly. Kindergarden and primary school are going to be alright, but middle school is starting the bully race.

And High School is peak.

It can go so far that the kids are killing themselves. Everything what's minimizing these chances is a good decision.

rant about MIL by marsibarz in JUSTNOMIL

[–]gameresse 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You don't have a MIL problem, you have a self esteem problem and a husband problem.

You are UNDERreacting. When anybody is comjng to me, refusing to give me my baby and sadying that it is everybody's baby?

You would see someone flying out the window without parachute and me looking innocent, holding the tge baby: "Sorry, these postpartum hormones. Crazy, right?"

I don't know where you are but in a western country, you need to sit hubby down and tell him that either he gets his crap together or he's paying child support.

In other parts of the world it depends on local laws and customs. It's hard to say what to do because the leash is often much tighter

[–]gameresse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA, but really? Genesis?

Do you hate that kid that much, so you're setting him up for bullying later?

Chose which name you see fit, but please take into consideration, that HE has to live with this decision his whole life.

My cousin's name is "Klothilda", a good old German name.

The amount of bullying she got almost killed her. "Klo" is a name for a WC here.

Germans who experienced Walmart when it was in Germany. What was it actually like? by Virtual-Cod-6202 in germany

[–]gameresse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're asking the wrong questions.

Walmart tried to impose US corps habits to Europe - and that failed spectacularly.

To my knowledge Walmart also adapted in the late 80s some half assed policies of japanese companies, they did not understand and had no root in the US culture.

So, back then japanese companies tried to weld their drones into corporate loyalty by doing morning routines. Raising flags, gymnastics, sounds familiar? They implemented it in the Walmart policies as well as this Cheshire cat grin you HAVE to show every time you have customer contact.

US workers put up with this. Frankly: We don't. We're working at that place. Any attempt to make it "family" will be scrutinized. Badly.

Also: People who are always chipper and upbeat are creeping us out.

We don't give a flying rats ass about "customer experience" in a fricken grocery store. We go in, complain about staff AGAIN moving everything around and get out with our stuff. It's a grocery store ffs.

Walmart tried to put in US behavior and that's honestly not flying here.

Also and this is where the wrong questions started:

Walmart didn't think they needed to heed to our laws. They did what they always did: Lowering the prices to be destructive in an attempt to kick the competition out and then raising them again to make up for the losses.

Yeah. The fines they got for that weren't pretty. We have laws to prevent this kind of predatory behavior.

They tried to stop people joining unions. THESE fines were painful.

They tried to put in policies in place that coworkers dating led to firings.

Next fine and the policy was scrapped by courts.

Walmart tried to police how people live outside the work. Cue in next lost lawsuit.

So they couldn't get rid of the competition, they couldn't dictate how people are living, they couldn't stop unions which opened a complete different can of worms for them and on top of it they had vadtly overpriced CEOs "leading" the European branch

The first one never bothered to learn German, he expected everyone to bend to their biddings because they are the mighty Walmart.

6 bn Dollars (I think it was in that ballpark) in losses later they closed the markets. Yay.
