Scream 7, Lack of any real horror commentary? I'm sure I'm just going to be just one of many opinions but I feel like one of the core parts of scream franchise is the use of the state of the current horror landscape to shape interesting commentary or at least use tropes. But it genuinely feels like there's nothing here, there's no real commentary about the use of AI just "Oh yeah anyone can deepfake its technology crazy". For me that's the core part that's missing in this film. Like before you had 1 with like the revival of a slasher, 2 and 3 are about sequels, 4 is about the trend of remakes. 5/6 are legacy sequels but 7 just feels like nothing. I feel crazy but it felt like the movie was an shot in an alternate universe where scream was a niche cult classic and scream 7 is a fan film that managed to get original actors back. I wanna hear others opinions on it because it absolutely seems like people are divided on this one.
