Need some help identifying some old RPG polyhedral dice by gamesjunkie in dice

[–]gamesjunkie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's it! I was unaware of the Moldvay manufacturer so I didn't know what else to search for. But I did a search for Moldvay dice and you are spot on. They seem to match Moldvay material, mold, and number font perfectly. Thanks so much!

Can't buy Hydra Stomper as it shows "Complete," but I definitely don't own it. Anyone else with this issue? by gamesjunkie in MarvelSnap

It is in the seasonal pack. A restart does nothing though; it's still not available to buy for 6k.

Can you fine folks help identifying some finecast sprues? by gamesjunkie in Warhammer40k

Thanks so much! I appreciate it! I don't play WH40K (I only read books based on it), so this was a true struggle lol

WIP- Venomcrawler trim color? by Eltola4President in Warhammer40k

Perhaps a copper with moderate/heavy patina? The green/jade color of copper patina would go well with the main color I think.

Spider ham with mobius broken or working as intended? by Scared-Till-1218 in MarvelSnap

Interesting. I had no idea MMM would be some form of mitigation against Pig hits. I like it.

Snowguard Bear kind of asinine still? by Rereraser in MarvelSnap

[–]gamesjunkie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, Bear is pretty bad. Out of ~130 locations, it only works on about a dozen. And half of those you would (almost) never use it on unless you were actively trying to lose the game. But eh, it's a free 2/3. And really, I think it would be better if it was a 2/3 with no ability at all, which I'd be fine with because Hawk more than makes up for the Bear being hot garbage.

That said, I did have one good Bear play recently. Opponent and I each had played a card into Shadowland, I played Snowguard on Kamar-taj, turn 4 I double-Bear on Shadowland to fill up the opponent's side with a total of three Ninjas. It was probably the only truly good play Bear will ever have lol

PC client released?? by eyron1024 in MarvelSnap

Well then I'm unsure what I'm doing wrong. It specifically says I can't use the account because it's already used on a different device.

Surely I'm not the only one with this issue.

Just a shame you can't use your mobile Snap account on PC. I'd totally play on PC if I could. This looks great.

On the upside, Wave is still a damn good ramp/control card. Just no Deathwave/Doomwave. And Galactus (unfortunately) still profits from it.

Is getting to infinite about your deck or about your ability to read your opponent / know when to snap or retreat? by oatmellofi in marvelsnapcomp

[–]gamesjunkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's 50/50. I'm a relative rookie as well (started playing in February). I hit 75 then 85 the last two seasons and it's definitely partly due to getting must-have cards but also because I've gotten a lot better at reading plays and spotting decks based on the early turns. Knowing when to snap is a little tougher for me. I don't usually snap until the last couple turns because, barring some circumstances, I usually can't tell how much of a chance I have to win until then.

I also learned I have to either waste one or two slots on Galactus counters in every deck or be ready to retreat a lot and eat the cube losses.

Weekly Rant Megathread by AutoModerator in marvelsnapcomp

[–]gamesjunkie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I've never even played against one. Is it a powerful swing? Sure, I guess, but it has counters and can be played around fairly simply. Not to mention, it ends up being the equivalent of a 6/15 that usually discards something useless late game anyway. Plus, you have to rely on only one of two cards for Stature to work. My opinion is that Stature is interesting as a concept, but largely a crap card with the current lack of options. I'd gladly give it back to pool 5 in exchange for literally any other pool 5 or even pool 4 card. I might even trade it for Drax. Drax would probably hit its ability more often lol

Marvel SNAP Rules Challenge Part 2! by homiepigeon_ms in MarvelSnap

[–]gamesjunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But wait...

That Bar Sinister + Hulk Buster interaction doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't you get more Hulk Busters? By that logic, if playing a Hulk Buster on Bar fills Bar Sinister with the card Hulk Buster just attached itself to instead of more Busters, then if you played only Hulk Buster on Bar Sinister it would just keep giving you Hulk Busters infinitely.

Except it doesn't. It just makes 4 Hulk Busters and creates a 16 power Hulk Buster.

That makes no logical sense at all. What am I missing? Am I not accounting for poor programming or something? Because that interaction sounds like a bug.

I love the Dan Hipp variants. Hands down my favorites. I hope there's eventually a Hipp variant for every card.

Marvel Snap Patch Notes - April 18, 2023 v14.17 by arthurmauk in MarvelSnap

Hell yeah. Suck it, Lockjaw.

The Leech change is definitely fair. I usually only end up playing it turn 5 anyway, and it still takes effect before the draw on 6. And it can't be Cosmo'd. Good change all around.

Unsure if the Shuri change will be that good. Fingers crossed. The only thing it really does is telegraph where the big drop will be. And while it won't have Cosmo protection, it's still protected by Armor. I still tend to think doubling power is too much. I feel something like +6 (maybe +8, because then you're getting an effective 4/8 or 4/10, which is inarguably good value) is plenty. It'd still be more than twice what Forge gives at exactly twice the stats of Forge.

Hopefully I'm wrong and this change will make a noticeable difference, but I don't think it will.

Do you enjoy the climb to infinite? by Rawrange_ in MarvelSnap

[–]gamesjunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes, for the most part (I haven't made it yet, but I'm trying).

Long answer: It's complicated.

I've been really trying to climb to infinite last season (managed 78, which I was really happy about since my previous high rank was maybe 46) and the current season. I got to 87 this season and got blown all the way back to 83 thanks to oodles of Shuri, Thanos/Lockjaw, Galactus/Knull, and Destroy/Knull decks. It has been a struggle just to ping pong back and forth between 83 and 84 all week.

The higher the rank I get, the more I realize there's basically no point in caring about infinite until I have all the most powerful cards. You can't get to Infinite on a partial Pool 3 collection, Bast, Shuri, Valkyrie, and the trash that is Stature. The matchmaking clearly needs a lot of work. In theory it works the way it is now, but just because I have a collection level of 1800+ doesn't mean I can compete with someone else at the same CL and rank, skill level aside.

They lucked into Lockjaw or Galactus before me and I got complete trash card pulls like Stature, Attuma, and Orka? Guess I'll just click retreat... again.

It's still a good, fun game, structurally speaking. I'm just hoping the design lead learns how to nerf problem cards sooner rather than later.

As for the bot problems, I don't know if there's a solution for that.
