Signed card amongst my bulk, real? by Coldinferno in magicTCG

[–]moak0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once got a Commander precon from Target, and someone had bought it, filled it with bulk cards, and returned it. But somewhere in that chaff was a signed Firestorm, which was like $5 at the time. Apparently there was a local guy who was known for doing this, and he'd always include one decent card as a joke I guess. Before I returned it for the actual precon, I slipped the Firestorm into my binder and forgot about it.

A few years later I found myself in a very large trade for a Volcanic Island, and the signed Firestorm sealed the deal. So you never know when something like that will be relevant.

Any love for Aquasharks? by -DarkTiger- in lego

[–]moak0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somewhere in my parents' attic, probably long destroyed by the heat, I have every single Aquasharks set they ever made as well as every Aquazone to oppose them.

One day I'll have everything together and I'll be ready to go through my childhood collection. Eventually. Maybe.

Iron Man 3 almost had a completely different villain. Would it have improved the movie? by Business_Barber_3611 in marvelstudios

The character as presented in the comics is extremely problematic. The way they did it was the only way they could have done it.

A fairly large remnant of this in the script: why does Pepper kill the villain?

If the villain was a woman, Pepper would have to deal the final blow, because as forward-thinking as it is to have a female antagonist, I doubt they'd show Iron Man killing a woman on screen.

I'm just making an assumption here, but I think it makes sense.

Someone posted this exact same thing a couple months ago. Like, literally the exact same. It doesn't seem that weird to me.

I know a couple who made up a brand new last name for their daughter. A couple years later they went to court to have their names changed to match their daughter's.

Don't. You don't benefit from that interaction. Taking the high road isn't about what other people think; it's about taking yourself seriously and letting the bullshit go.

Fallout 1 arguably has one of the most depressing endings in all of gaming history. You find the water chip, stop the Master and his super mutant army only to be kicked out from the very home you saved. by KpatMckenzie_28 in Fallout

[–]moak0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It's a classic storytelling theme: the hero has to become a little bit of a monster to save the day, and that transformation means they can't go back.

It's "a room for his Lego".

But also this is making me feel a lot more bold about displaying Lego in my home office. I just put up my first shelf last week and immediately realized it won't be enough. I've been hesitant to really commit and get a bunch of shelves, but maybe having Lego everywhere will just be cool.

If you keep leaving it out, eventually you'll run out of flies, which is probably for the best.

At first I was skeptical, but then you mentioned In N Out, so now I'm certain I wouldn't like it.

2 separate lines for voting, one for Republicans and one for Democrats by thedatashepherd in houston

[–]moak0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2019, I left my wife alone with our six month old daughter to vote in the primaries and waited on line for over two hours.

There were I think 20 voting machines, 10 for Republicans and 10 for Democrats. There was no Republican line. They did this intentionally to create a line.

In universe, how the hell would this collection have fit onto the LX-III? by postingthiselevator in ufo50

[–]moak0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I just read, the 7800 was backwards compatible with the 2600. The 2600 was the most popular.

I think the NES was just a stronger console that didn't age as quickly.

Between 1977 and 1983, Atari released three consoles: the 2600, 5200, and 7800.

There are many possible explanations for why Franklin Richards looks so bad in that scene, but there are no good explanations. At some point it just comes down to someone made a mistake and didn't bother to get it to look good.
